I went there yesterday (Wednesday). The sign in the window said "Yes We Are Open" but the sign on door said "CLOSED, will be back at 2:20. So, I went shopping next door and waited until 2:45. Still closed. Stuff happens, I know. maybe an emergency. whatever, they lost a customer and another shop got a new one. I've been cutting my own hair for almost thirty years and thought (at 76) maybe I should let a pro take a shot at it. Trimming the neck and back using mirrors is a real pain for me. Ever since I moved to Fallbrook 4 months ago, I've been coming to this barbershop. One could almost miss it due to it's location being, literally, in the corner of a business strip. When I first stepped in, I was greeted kindly and promptly by the owner and some customers. A very "small-town" feel about it and it directly reflected the hospitality of the community. The interior decor is a mashup of customer photos, personal fishing excursion shots, modern and local artwork and even some hip dolls and action figures. Unique!!! Totally cool! and I love the "fun" and "relaxed" feel you get being there. There are magazines for readers and also 2 tv's for sports-lovers or those who like the news. But I've honestly never waited long enough to take advantage of either. I particularly like the hairstyle scaling chart that is posted on the wall; I simply point out the hairstyle I want and the barber hooks me up. The barbers there are very skilled in their craft and are familiar with cutting different hair-types; regardless of ethnic or racial texture. This review is for the braider Carmen Williams. She is perhaps the most ignorant and ghetto person I have come across. She got bent out of shape because I didn't tip her even though she charges $100 for a 2-3 hour hair service that's like $30-$50 an hour. She didn't like detangling my hair and instead of telling me she would have to charge an extra fee she let me drive 40 minutes to the shop just to say oh I'm busy and last time you did a no call no show when in actuality I sent her a message on StyleSeat to reschedule and showed her the message and it clearly was marked read; she's a liar and con artist. Her work station is a mess too with ripped up chairs and very unclean looking tools. There's definitely something wrong with this chic. She went on to message me saying I'm cheap and an old lady and mind you I'm in my late 30's. This person just gives me the creeps. Lastly her work isn't that great she's definitely not the best braider or clean one. read more

I have been away from Fallbrook for 13 years and am trying to find a barbershop that I like. This is the second place that i have tried; for me changing barbers is worse than changing doctors. Shop is small and appears to be a family owned/operated shop. Tom, the owner (?), cut my hair. It was satisfactory, but not spectacular. I will try his son (a Marine veteran) next time and then the daughter-in-law(?). Sixteen dollars (16) seems a little steep for me. Sunset Barber Shop is hands down one of the best barber shops I've been to. They still use a warm towel at the end, which is rare now-a-days. Lucy and Carlos are very good at what they do. Come here if you want a rock solid haircut and friendly folks. They cater towards our US Military members and provide awesome haircuts for civilians as well. read more

These guys do really great fades. They are expensive for a military cut - about $15 where as many other places you can get one for about 10. Otherwise, this is a great little barbershop. Lucy is great and is one of the few barbers that takes appointments if you desire. read more

I am beyond disappointed with the haircut I received here today. I don't understand how the man that cut my hair has his license, he left my hair with so many different lengths. Didn't bother to blend, of the SOLID lines for the fade... & never once turned my chair so that I could see how my hair was being cut. He spent about 20 mins max on the entire thing for it to turn out bad. I'm even more disappointed because I had a huge event, to attend to early morning tomorrow, & the fact that I have to wear a hat over his "work" just saddens me so much. I'm usually very nice about the haircuts I receive but he definitely did NOT take his time, did not bother to ask at any point in time if the haircut was coming out ok... just sat , cut, paid & left. I will never be going to this place again. the other barbers that work at this location do a very nice job at getting to know the client and asking many questions about what you want done. We stopped in to get my Son a haircut, He was told to go somewhere else that they didn't cut hair like my sons. When my Son came back and told me I couldn't believe it soI sent my other Son in with him and he came back and said "Nope they refused to cut his hair" " They said maybe someone else might do it down the street." I went in there with easy and specific instructions. Just a basic buzz all the way around. The barber took it upon himself to cut my sides shorter and fade into the top when I specifically told him not to. When I confronted him on it (even though it was too late by the point) he told me it would look better the way he was doing it. I told him that wasn't what I wanted. When I was obviously frustrated he said "you having a bad day bro?" He never really apologized for not following instructions. It's one thing to make a mistake, those happen. This place is, exactly what I was looking for. While I am young male looking for the kind-of new, edgy, stylin' haircut,, I can honestly say this place is for everyone of all ages. The owners(a bubbling and beautiful married couple) KNOW hair; I mean they know hair. I didn't know how I wanted to look and I came out fresh, lined up, and looking exactly how I like. The owners wife also is really great with just regular trim-ups and hair cuts, as she likes to put her own flair into things. Carlos the owner is just passionate about what he does, and loves it; what more can you ask? They are friendly, have refreshments, prices are good, and they are happy to help you lose a couple inches off your head :). They will get busy on Sunday's, and are usually able to accommodate you within 20 minutes or so (this is when they are really busy). I will keep coming back to Sunset!! read more

I've gotten haircuts in salons in Beverly Hills, L.A., Orange County and gotten poor haircuts regardless of the cost. Even my last haircut at another Fallbrook barber was a disaster. So l tried Sunset because of the reviews and got a phenomenal cut from Carlos. He used mostly scissors and took his time even though people were waiting. This last time Lucy did my hair and it it beat even Carlos' job, even though I would still be happy with a cut from him. But how could I go back after perfection? At my age, I need to wear better clothes, drink the best craft beer and go to Sunset for Lucy to cut my hair. Bravo. read more

prices are great!!! mural on the wall is the awesome!!!! they have a tv thats always tuned into sportscenter!!!! and awesome surround sound with great music playing all the time.. the couple that cuts is very friendly and have an awesome little fat dog that comes and plays with you while you wait.
