We bought a brand new outside/inside unit through a different company and have had nothing but problems with the "other" companies work. The initial installer every time we called made me feel like I was a chore and told us it would be weeks until they could even come to look at our unit. I generally prefer supporting local dealers, but we didn't have a great experience with a fairly…read morelarge HVAC project. While I think Bachers tries to take care of its customers, I wonder how sustainable that support is over a 15-20 year HVAC lifespan. A few things we learned: 1) Lennox makes excellent systems, but they rely heavily on proprietary parts, which can make repairs harder. 2) There's only one Lennox dealer within about 100 miles, so if you have an issue with the dealer, your options are pretty limited. Most general HVAC contractors can't help much with Lennox equipment. 3) It's tough for homeowners to judge the quality of an installation. This video gives a good idea of what to look for: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hwj7BJtua4c 4) Get everything in writing! I've always been a "Lennox guy," but given our experience and the limited dealer options on the peninsula, I'm thinking Lennox may not be the best fit for us.
