Warning. After 4 visits to the house (@ over $100 each time) and 3 unnecessary and ineffective "repairs", the 4th electrician was able to identify why our lights and outlets kept failing... the problem was actually outside the house with the PUD line. Only half the power was getting to the house. A call to the PUD and very prompt response (and at no cost to me) finally fixed the issue. The lesson? If that first guy doesn't fix it, call another company. Personally, we'll never call Star again. read more

Matt showed up on time. He appeared to be young so I was a little skeptical but I realized soon that I was wrong. He was patient and capable. He figured out the cause of the electrical issues right away and gave me a comprehensive explanation. He didn't waste no time, finished all the job with a positive attitude. However It was actually after a couple of weeks when I start seeing the improvements in functionalities of my electrical devices. Scam artist. Electrician shows up, gives me a very rough figure which was fine. Bill shows in the mail for hundreds more. Called a complained, owner calls me a fucking liar. I run a million dollar business and these guys are jokes. Bad enough I paid twice the price as my other electrician. read more

I have had these guys out to my house three times now. Every time they have worked their behinds off. Greg was my installer two out of the three times. He was friendly, knowledgeable and put up with my screaming dogs with grace. He was very professional and worked from the time he showed up to the end of the day. He had to climb under the nasty house and everything. He worked hard. The house was built in 1948, so the wiring is old. Greg represented Star Electric well. He fixed everything, was a good listener and is the very reason I kept calling them back out for more work. They showed up on time, every time. They are reasonably priced and take care of any issues promptly. The other review is out of date and Gordon electric is no longer in business. He is retired. I have had nothing but pleasant experiences with Star Electric and they will be my go to guys for anything electrical, indefinitely. read more

As introduction, my house of 1950's vintage, had the "state of the art" lighting system, where a low voltage system powered the light switches, which controlled relays that would open or close a circuit to fixtures in ceiling boxes throughout the house. Included were two master control panels at either end of the house that could turn lights on/off. The light switches have 24 volts power, while the ceiling boxes have 110V AC. In 2007, I had my roof replaced--it is a flat roof. At the time, either by a great coincidence or because one of the roofers' nails had pierced and shorted the low voltage system, my lights failed. I called Star Electric. They spent a lot of time and got 6-7 lights out of 40 working. The roofers even pulled up a section of roof and replaced it. I had no idea what was going on. After a few months those 6-7 lights stopped working. They billed me for about $900--they didn't care that they hadn't come close to solving my problem--I paid. Since then, I concluded that Star Electric also had no idea what the problem was nor how to fix it. I was not going to call them back. They were like attorneys or doctors who bill you irrespective of the outcome. My problem was resolved after a consultation with Frank Gordon Electric. Frank is damned busy but when I finally got him, he spent 30 minutes looking and thinking. He then said I could, at great expense, have the roof torn up and have the system rewired, or go with a wireless solution. That solution included Leviton Levnet wireless self-powered switches and ceiling box mounted receivers as well as motion activated switches. I have installed both and the result is uplifting. I placed Heath/Zenith motion activated switches (Home Depot $20) to activate fixtures in the halls of my house--they flip on as I enter each hallway--these also have an option that, after dusk, turns them on dim when not activated. In sum, if you want intelligence for a difficult issue, you want Frank Gordon Electric, NOT Star. read more

We used Star electric to replace out fuse panel and fix some issues the previous owner had done. We now have a new fuse box feel safe in our new home. I have heat in my store room/sewing room.
