My husband is currently on hold with customer service in hopes of credit return due to the fact that our solar has stopped working since April! It is now September 4... Check your roof for leaking and shingles for damage. We have an older roof and the installers were absolute tools and caused an entire reroof worth of damage, leaks included. The sealant under the EMT conduit is poorly sealed and loose causing leaks on the inside. They also installed a bunch of pieces of flashing under the shingles for what they said were "tie offs." That aside, we were undersold on panels and our system never reaches above 50% charge and most nights during the winter we lose power and are forced to buy power from Pg&E for .43 per kw even though it could have been avoided. The salesperson Kim said it would be an off grid system but clearly lied to get a sale in. Had to call tesla to get info on how to disconnect from the grid and figure out how to use the app and connect it to the internet because the installers didn't go over anything such as the utility rate plan or how the system actually works, and we were hit with a $1500 true-up bill because of it. Hours and hours of emailing and phone calls back and forth to get these issues resolved and just when I thought I was making progress with them, my case manager takes a 10 day vacation. I was contacted by the previous escalations expert Ashloyds supervisor Melissa who said they would take over and get a new escalations expert named Deanna for us, bribed us with a $100 gift card and said everything would be taken care of. A local sales rep Tami notified us that Sunrun has a 90% production guarantee and that they are supposed to reimburse for a true up if it occurs since the systems are able to go up to 150% production. Also notified me of the roof readiness and watertight for 10 years guarantee where they are supposed to fix any leaks caused by solar within 10 years of install. They have already said they would honor this to the point of us signing the contract with the roofing company to fix the damage (which Sunrun got wrong numerous times causing me to have to call Sunstone Roofing and Sunrun and coordinate them since they are in shambles and nobody communicates,) and are now backtracking saying since the title holder (my wife) isn't on the contract due to not meeting the requirements for the credit check upon sale of the system, that they aren't willing to work with me or I until she is on the contract. Basically now trying to strong arm my wife into getting into the contract in order for them to honor the warranty they have with me. Edit: I passed the torch to the BBB and they switched my escalation expert to Emily since apparently they have their own BBB department (I wonder why) and she has already attempted to gaslight me into being unprofessional. I'm sorry, but your company has caused about $30,000 worth of damage and you're calling me unprofessional for being upset about it? I wasn't even disrespectful. On top of that they tell me they are going to update me weekly... well my roof is leaking now, how about getting someone to fix the leak and get a permit now, or confirming with me that the line drawing is correct.. Nothing. All in all, if you want to be lied to by a salesperson, have one minute to view your $90,000 solar contract, not own your system, have an inspector who doesn't climb ladders say your 20 year old roofs ready, have damage done to your house and covered up without being notified, a leaking roof, damage to your shingles in numerous places, moisture and mold in interior sheetrock, a heavily underperforming system causing a much higher bill with PG&E after being told you are off grid for all intents and purposes, to take numerous days off to deal with incompetent techs or people who don't even show up on numerous occasions after being told somethings wrong with the system on many occasions through text and email causing Sunrun to threaten to have your warranty cancelled because of it, hours off to talk to customer support, hours to argue with an incompetent escalations department and coordinating with roofing companies, to be flat out lied to, bribed, treated like you are stupid, by all means go with them, otherwise sunRUN. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with SunRun Solar's customer service. After having solar panels installed by SunRun, we started noticing a serious pigeon problem. Pigeons have been nesting under the solar panels and making a mess all over our roof and property with their droppings. When I reached out to SunRun for a solution, I was shocked to find out that they expect us to pay additional charges for cleaning up the mess and installing bird-proofing measures! This should have been anticipated and addressed during the initial installation, but instead, they're treating it as our problem to fix--at our own expense. I chose SunRun for the promise of hassle-free solar energy, but instead, I'm dealing with an unexpected and costly issue. I requested to be contacted via email as my job does not allow me to be on the phone for extended periods of time answering questions that I already answered on my forms. I've now been contacted three times. Each time explaining that I've already answered their five questions. I would like to be contacted via message by a supervisor. The people that you have doing your sales calls need a little bit of help with their listening skills. One of them actually told me I'd be wasting his time if I didn't answer his questions. And you all have the nerve to ask me for my credit score! Sunrun installed solar panels in September 2024. And still waiting for them to be turned on. They have been giving us excuses one after another as to why it's not turned. Almost 5 months later they said it will be up to 4 weeks for PG&E to doing the final approval and now we are at the 4 weeks and they said PG&E said a new transformer needs to be put in. That is for the neighborhood not for my solar and will be another couple of months. All of my neighbors are up and running with their solar. I rate this company and their customer service a negative 0. I'm having them remove their solar panels. On going process , first started with the sales person Muhammad, who is very genuine, very nice accommodating, and made a boatload of promises about his involvement who I have not heard a word from since I signed the paperwork. I've put numerous phone calls into him with no response as problems have continued to mount. Subcontracted the actual installment process to the company called V3 Electic ! They seem very professional and show up when they say buy there installation crew seemed a bit inexperienced but very accommodating! They installed the system on the roof and as of August 24 it didn't pass inspection, the length of the attachment screws was insufficient for the inspector to pass it. Now comes the confusing part. I've waited four months they have to fix it to where it could pass inspection and set another crew out to add 3 inch longer screws and I have 12 screw holes now in the open beam ceiling on my house. As this process continues, the lack of communication between Sunrun/V3 and myself has been very sporadic making it difficult to truly understand what's going on. Sunrun seems to have great equipment but a avoidance for direct communication when things don't go as planned. Buyer Beware if you get involved with this process! We reached out to get a quote, had them come do a sight inspection. SunRun told us just let us know when you are getting it done and we will take off the panels and then reinstalled them. We'll, 2 1/2 months later they are still sitting in our garage. My " case manager" gave me a bunch of excuses to include they are short handed and the redesign team " is too busy" . They also failed to pull permits in our county. I must be crazy. After spending 70k+ on a system designed to fully offset our power use , I've officially been written off. Our system was installed in June of 2020. They messed up paperwork for PTO and it took 6 weeks to turn on. Once on, it made rated lower for one month. But they monitor it and guarantee output?! Nope, only if you are on the rental/ rate plan. If you buy it outright there is NO PERFORMANCE GUARANTEE, the is also NO MONITORING After 2 years, and dozens of calls, 5 or 6 service visits, our system makes about 60% of rated output and they don't care. I was able to talk them into a performance rebate. For 2 years of 60% output- they offered $35. If that's not a huge F U I don't know what is. The app sucks , the support sucks, the panels suck. I'm the new owner of the house I just bought, I had to signed off a few documents of transferring service to me. I just found out that the solar system doesn't work since May. The tech who came out to look at the problem and he found out the Inverter does not work. He would put the work order in so I called customer service about the work order a few days later, and they put on hold, put me the run around to all the department, and no one give me a definite answer to solve this problem. DAMAGED MY HOUSE Bryan Halley seems like he cares but his actions speak louder than words. Vivint installed solar in my neighborhood in late 2019. The system was installed poorly. The mounts compromised my roof and has been leaking into my house. There is water damage to the roof, the insulation and to the ceiling in three places inside the home . Vivint does not return calls, Bryan does not return calls. No action has been taken by Vivint to even inspect the damage. Crickets. Nothing. Sales people have zero respect. I work days and sleep nights. I have multiple signs on my door telling people not to knock or ring the doorbell. Instead of leaving a brochure, the salesman instead wakes me up and tries to engage my husband in his sales pitch. PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK ABOUT THIS COMPANY should be zero stars I was promised savings, but my "total" electrical costs increased!! The poor customer service is just one of the issues with this company. If you have an problems with installation, inspection, errors, etc. do expect it fixed correctly, if at all, or receive any type of response from customer service. After my panels were installed the permission to operate inspection failed. What followed was over a years worth of being ignored by Vivint and trying to get the my system passed the inspection. SMUD informed them of the issue that needed to be fixed after the first inspection. Vivint would subsequently send their techs out to fix the issue, but never did. They repeatedly came, said it was fixed, and SMUD would fail the system each inspection for the SAME problem. The inspection was only passed after I coordinated with SMUD to have them there at the same time as Vivint. However, this took over a year and several inspections all while Vivint had started charging me for solar production without the system functioning properly to reflect on my SMUD bill. So, I was forced to pay both SMUD and Vivint fully without any savings. I informed Vivint, but they said that it would be corrected and credited, which has not happened. I have called and sent emails about this, but have received no response. The only customer service agent I spoke to said I signed a contract. ok? I am a disabled veteran on a fixed income and was promised, by Vivint, that if they could not save me money on my bill they would not approve the installation. This obviously was not true and just a predatory like promise to bait customers. I regret DEEPLY signing a contract with company. I would never recommend them to any person. Had Sunrun install solar 4 years ago and they fell through our family room ceiling, broke 15 tile and broke our whole house vacuum. while doing it. Then half the panels quit working and it took 1-1/2 months for them to repair it. The following year the same set of panels quit working and they finally fixed those. The next year the roof leaked under the panels because of original installation damage. They waited to fix the roof till it did damage to our dinning room ceiling during rainy season, approximately 2 month. They then set an appointment up to put the panels back on on July 1st. They cancelled the July appointment do to the heatwave and rescheduled for Aug 5th. They did not show up or call till we emailed and called 6 times to different people and complained. They called us on Aug 6th and told us it was because they were short some workers. They have now rescheduled to put our panels up SEPT 27th. Our original complaint was opened on March 2nd and we have gone 7 months without solar in the hottest time of the year. We want to complain but they will not give us their supervisor's phone number. Seldom find anything I want to rate 5 Star these days; but after turning away at least 100 solar "knockers" I had a young guy who was very sincere and apologetic about interrupting our afternoon; but wondered if we'd heard of a PPA for Solar? Well, I hadn't. That started a 5Star process that now has us buying our power from Vivint and saving $$ with no money out of our pocket!! The entire process, long and slow because of permits and inspections, could not have gone better. Our guy Alvin kept us informed and everyone we dealt with was wonderful. I've seldom seen an entire company go from sale through installation and on to operation without finding at least 1 "square peg" in a round hole; but we didn't! I write this because I want each Vivint employee to know how rare a group you work with! You all have the "customers" back, in Utah and here; thanks for the hard work and kindness. Be very careful if you choose Vivint to install solar panels. We did and I am sorry. The panels on the front of the house were NOT installed as advertised. The flashings and rails stick out 5 inches below the panels causing a major eyesore. (See pictures) This would be a major deterrent if I was to sell my house. The pictures of the panels to be installed that we saw prior to choosing them did not look like this. I have tried working with customer service for 5 weeks. I have called many, many times and have sent emails with pictures. Promises were made, no calls returned. They even closed my ticket and a work order with out my knowledge. Very disrespectful and extremely poor customer service. They have no intention if fixing this as they finally told me the panels are within spec. Spec is NOT the issue. Two year customer with Vivint Solar and I can categorically say Vivint is a one star business. The reason for the low rating is the poor customer service. For example, they refuse to send a bill. They demand that all bills must be paid in an auto bill and will not send and invoice. There claim is that it is to help the environment. I went back and forth with Vivint for 6 months on sending a bill until finally giving up and having to write this one star review. There customer service staff is absolutely zero help. I made a few videos about the service when I first got started. Now I take all the good things back, because of the way they treat there customers.
