It was a…read morestrange surprise when I excitedly went to play a newly purchased RED HOT's vinyl and realized the actual audio of the vinyl itself was mis-pressed with a different genre entirely! Naturally there can't really be any blame, as the label even read exactly as it was supposed to. Bit of a bummer as it was a rare record, in my price range, and I was super stoked to acquire it. In all fairness the staff attempted every available option to solve the issue. Unfortunately, they couldn't give me my money back, but instead store credit, with a small bonus. This kinda sucked as I am broke and didn't get what I was hoping for. I wasn't aware of the store policy of no refunds. However, the staff was super solid to handle the intensity and I am on a list to hopefully get it replaced when a future order comes in, as to benefit my Uplift Mofo Party Plan. I hope to have continued good vibes with this business. They do a great job. In past days I have recommended them extensively and will continue to, especially when someone is looking for something specific. I would slightly hesitate to crown them as the best record store in Edmonton, only because all the record suppliers of this city have different strengths and virtues to their skillset. However, this store is like an air strike of vinyl and the selection available is impressive and formidable. Plus, the staff is as knowledgeable as one can hope for. I found some rarities and did not leave empty handed. Despite being called "curmudgeon" the staff were friendly and helpful. Also, did I mention the poster collection? The staff are friendly, and there is a 30-day exchange policy (with receipt) if anything is defective. I have a feeling this may become a regular stop for me.

I did t have time to look around but I know if I was with my husband we'd have been in there for hours. They have a large vinyl collection, band shirts and music swag. Server was great and cleaned the DVD before I got it. Had some chitchat about this Disney vault being a real thing. Then went in my merry way. Can't wait to watch Aladdin now.

I was purchasing a dresser and mirr from your store on 137 ave and Manning Frw…read more I understand that you don't help load the large items into the vehicle, BUT they will NOT help get the large items into out the door of the store to the Vehicle. I asked the store Manager for help and she said they don't load it into the car, so I asked if there was a person to get the Dresser TO the vehicle, she said NO, that there was a dolly over there that I could use. so if I use this dolly and damage stuff in the store or run into someone who is at fault? if the glass in the door happens to get smashed who pays for that? I told her if you get the dresser to the ve I will load it but she just looked the other way ,so I said where is the dolly, she took me to the donation area and I had to take the dolly across the store and take it and tha Dresser out of the store to my vehicle and load it my self. This store has the WORST Customer Service I have ever witnessed. as I finished loading my Dresser and bringing in the dolly there was another customer looking for the dolly so he could load his dresser. Things like this Should not happen. Every other Value Village that I go to THEY ALL help with the item out to you Vehicle. They're frequented by the fedora-wearing music geeks with black-framed glasses, usually seen carrying a leather shoulder bag with a a big flap (presumably to carry their records in.) If you can imagine a universe where Joy Division never broke up, the Chemical Brothers became the new Beatles, and Lisa Loeb is still hot, than you will enjoy Listen Records & CDs. The staff at Listen is awesome. Very nice, personable guys with a lot of patience. My wife went there recently with a long list of items that she was seeking out for me. She said that the dude working the check-out was totally cool and didn't mind looking up every item on the list to see if it was available, and if not, where she could find it. He didn't even exhibit any signs of musical snobbery towards my classic rock and metal leanings. She came home full of raves (and records). If you're into metal or older rock music, Listen won't be your ideal stop, but it's great for people who aren't into mainstream stuff. Listen has a demographic in mind and they who know their target audience is.

They are the largest antique store in Western Canada, and so there is a lot to see here. From vintage license plates to toys to furniture to everything in between (and then some). I like coming here just to browse and see what they have. The Old Strathcona Antique Mall is filled with different antique/vintage vendors so trying to hunt down a particular item can be hard, and might be in more than one spot. That said I've been on the hunt for vintage travel postcards from specific destinations I've visited (and there's a particular style I want). Postcards are in several different spots so when I come here I try to go through them all. I've done pretty well on my mission, but there are still some destinations I don't have. Oh no that means I have to go back to The Old Strathcona Antique Mall, probably pretty soon.

Usually when I check out an HMV it will be when I am passing by it in a shopping mall and then I will find something I like. This one just seems like an inconvenience. Like most HMV's they have a huge selection but the staff at this one doesn't really help much if you need it. They usually have alright deals because they are trying to keep up with the internet but most of the time you will find a much better deal buying music or movies on the internet.

It feels as though they are there just to listen to music and get paid to do it. I hate to say it but I have never had good customer service at any HMV. I also don' t know how long they will be around for. It seems to me that people don't buy a lot of music in hard copy anymore. IF people aren't downloading, they are buying from iTunes (like me) because it is always cheaper. Then I can burn it onto a CD if I want. If you do want your music in hard copy, HMV does have a lot to choose from. All their music is divided by genre to make things easy (for you and the staff). But if you are on a budget, I would look elsewhere - maybe Walmart or somewhere like that.
