My daughter started going to Ocotillo Kindercare when she was 2 and was in Ms Susan's class. I was…read moreso nervous handing over my child to daycare but Susan and the rest of the staff really helped us with the transition. They are open from 05:30 to 18:30. They are the only daycare in the area that has hours that work with my extended shift work. My daughter is now 5 and back to having Ms Susan as a teacher again. She's transitioned through 4 rooms and will be heading to elementary school in July. We plan to us the after school program then too to ease with the transition of a new school. My main requirements when we chose Kindercare were that the hours fit within my schedule - my daughters safety - her happiness - and her intellectual growth. I have always felt my daughter was kept safe. When she was still in diapers she was always clean and never rashed. This was a concern for me because of her sensitive skin. For the most part she was happy, but like all tiny humans she's had great days and grumpy days. If I had a "wish list" for Kindercare it would be for more structured learning. Although, I can honestly say she's learning and growing being there as it is now. I feel confident that she is prepared to start Kindergarten in July. The staff has been so friendly during drop off and pick up. I always feel like they genuinely like my daughter. I really appreciate that when I have had a concern and raised an issue that I was taken seriously. And I saw immediate results or they let me know the next week what the findings were. Ex: Speed bumps in the parking lot, Bullying, Poor class content, etc. They even sat down and talked with me when my FIL was going through the Stage4 terminal cancer and I was feeling overwhelmed. I was a little surprised when I saw the poor reviews today on yelp. I'm not affiliated or friends with anyone at Kindercare, I just genuinely like it. I have always felt confident and secure having her stay there when I have to work. We love our "daycare family"! They are such a huge part of our life.

The head of school, Stephanie Terrell, is one of the worst, most contradictory administrators I have ever had the chore of emailing weekly for an entire school year. She protects her teachers with a fierce bias and will not hold anyone accountable for the simple reason that its not worth her time because a teacher is retiring. Stephanie would rather put a parent on a "communication plan" to restrict their ability to ask questions and have transparent dialogue. BASIS teachers have repeatedly told parents that the children are irresponsible - such as at back to school night before they even know a child's name - and then spend the whole year discriminating against that child because they are young and can't possibly know how to advocate for themselves. God forbid the teachers actually take the time to teach logical, straight forward executive functioning skills without confusing both parents and students by over complicating everything and poorly communicating. My 1st grader had a stack of papers 9.5 inches high by the end of the school year. It had been so frustrating to try talking to anyone at the school about how much value paper pushing provides, that I actually did the math myself: my student had to have his butt in a seat quietly doing a worksheet every 14 minutes of the school day. How is this a demonstration of rigorous, advanced academics taught with hands-on learning techniques that promote problem solving? The only problem my kid had to solve was how to not let one toe fall out of line. His teachers spoke to him like he was dumb and took off academic points if he forgot to put his name or class on any of the several hundred papers he had to churn out. Then, they couldn't even keep track of what they had to grade, so they marked it missing and penalized my students grade, blaming it on him for not turning in his work. Again, it's his problem because he's an irresponsible child. They don't care about your student as a human. They care about their statistics. Better off going to CUSD where they max the classes at 24 kids (not 32 as at BASIS), they connect with you and your family on a personal level, and they don't try to shove valueless busywork in their face throughout the day to prove the kids are learning for their own inflated statistics.

The faculty and staff of this campus discriminates greatly and with no consideration tried to destroy my daughters character. BASIS does not know how to deal with children with behavioral issues and does not care for the well-being of all students. This school failed my daughter greatly and purposely disrupted her education while trying to portrayed to the public that they pride themselves for their academic achievements. I had to withdrawal my 8 year old daughter because I did not feel safe for her to finish the semester and I'm still very upset that this school not only took opportunities away from my daughter, but also caused her a great deal of problems with her self esteem. Parents do not let this school fool you, the principal and culture in this school is prejudice and abuse their power. They are good experts at covering up bullying issues and only care about the donations they receive.

We've always appreciated the care and the relationships built over the years. However, our most recent experience left me deeply disappointed and hurt. My youngest son has special needs and, because of that, he occasionally misses days. Every time we return, we're typically greeted warmly with a "Hi! How are you?" -- but yesterday, that wasn't the case at all. When we walked into his classroom, both teachers looked visibly annoyed. They made eye contact but didn't say a single word. One teacher was sitting at a table (with no children) and the other was by the cubbies, so they weren't preoccupied. I let them know my son was ready for his bottle and mentioned the time of his last diaper change -- no acknowledgment. I repeated myself, and the only response I got was a flat "okay." I also tried to explain the situation with his hand, but again, not a single word or even a nod in response. Feeling completely dismissed, I walked out and went straight to the front desk to express my concerns. I told them that if my son wasn't wanted there, I would gladly take him somewhere he is. The staff member apologized and said she would speak to the teachers, but that doesn't undo how uncomfortable and unwanted we were made to feel. I ultimately decided to remove my son that day and take him to a sitter -- I couldn't leave him in a place where he was clearly not welcomed. What's even more disappointing is that since this happened, I haven't received a single call, text, or apology from anyone at the daycare. After years of trusting them with all three of my boys, this silence speaks volumes. It's truly heartbreaking

As a parent of a child with special needs, I expected a facility that would adapt and provide the necessary care and attention. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Despite informing the staff about my child's needs, there was little to no effort made to accommodate him. The caregivers seem untrained and unprepared to handle children with special needs, leading to numerous issues that could have been avoided with proper support and understanding. He did not act out but did not advance at the same rate as the other kids and they preferred to hold him back then work with us as a family to do what was best for our son. My child deserved an inclusive and supportive environment, but Kids Incorporated Chandler failed to provide that environment. I hope take this review seriously, for the sake of other special needs children, and take immediate steps to improve their services and provide proper training to their staff to ensure that all children, regardless of their needs, receive the care and attention they deserve.
