There is no reason to give this rustic rest stop on our way to the northern end of Georgia mountains less than the tribute of 5 stars. Sunrise Grocery popped up on our GPS as a must stop and do a bit of a walk about to shake numb legs from a long drive. I'm looking for a parking spot, and we sure got lucky; right up front but not blocking the lone gas pump. Oh, this is a delightfully quaint and rickety fantastic old building with aisles of locally made goodness. Artwork made from photographs is proudly displayed, and homemade soaps and jars of jams are a central theme. The produce is centered on a colorfully red ball of beefsteak tomatoes and Vine ripened watermelons and Georgia peaches. We made the friendly couple running this Sunrise Grocery country store a big happy part of our buying spree, and of course, we got the famous boiled peanuts, the Cajun taste. A fun picture taking moment outside where the boiling kettles are and a quick use as permitted to use a clean red door outhouse, and we are back on the road again. Sunrise Grocery on the 19 highway just south of Blairsville, GA. Stop, and you won't be disappointed.

My family had shopped and visited at Sunrise for years while camping at Vogel SP. The owner is so nice and welcoming and he's a great photographer so be sure to check out the gallery inside. They have handmade soaps, candles, and goodies on top of fresh produce and basic grocery items. The big hit is the boiled peanuts so make sure you get there early enough because they will sell out.

A visit to Vogel State park after thanksgiving this year and just down the road is Sunrise Grocery. It's like stepping into the past era of a roadside grocery stores. Stuff you need, stuff you can't live without and stuff you won't find anywhere else. Their hot boiled peanuts are awesome and so is their hot cider. The folks are friendly and the place is clean and we stopped in twice to get snacks and a few essentials. Do yourself a solid and make this place a planned stop if your in the area. You'll be glad you did.

Always fun to step back in time. Needed a few things and ended up buying other things to. I can't say no to lime pickles and hoop cheese. ..plus the apples and tomatoes looked so good. Also ended up with 50 pieces of firewood for $20.

This is a one of a kind stop. Yes, they have gasoline but that is just what puts it in the "convenience store" category. If you are headed to the Appalachian Trailhead on Blood Mountain make sure you stop in and see Jason and his family. They"ve been running this biz since the 1920's and they have the BEST boiled peanuts around!! You'll find a little of everything from crickets for fishin' to crafts from local artists. And of course buy you a Coke and some camping supplies! Its a lil' piece of Americana that makes the Hills of North Georgia so special.

A place you must visit if you are riding either the Six Gap or The Gauntlet motorcycle routes in north Georgia. The store is nestled between Blood Mountain and Richard B Russell Scenic Highway, about a dozen miles from Brasstown Bald. Try the peanut butter and dark chocolate buckeyes that you can purchase at the register. Also, essential for the motorcyclist, there is paved parking, two gasoline pumps, clean bathrooms, and lots of things to eat and drink. It is the perfect stop between riding the twisties. The staff is super friendly, and is happy to have motorcycles stopping by. Stop in for fresh local produce and great items such as unique local jellies, jams, and hot sauces. There are also adorable garden decorations for you to take home so that you can remember the beautiful mountains and friendly communities in N GA.

Stopped here our first night for wood! Such a blessing to have this business. We were able to get some items for our cabin stay. We went back the next morning which was Sunday. Many places are closed here in town to n Sunday. We absolutely loved the gas pumps! There was a customers actually getting gas! We will be getting gas tomorrow! We recommend this shops for shop, gifts, wood, food or wall hanging mountain photos.

Awesome deal on firewood when we go to Vogel. Boiled peanuts, firewood candies, jams, etc... Love this store! :)

    Look for this sign.

RIGHT ON THE WAY! This little grocery store is the perfect stop if you are camping in the area or leaving the city of Blairsville. They carry groceries, firewood, produce, souvenirs, boiled peanuts and other items that you may need. You can even get your gas here! They had a really nice selection of ciders including apple, peach, muscadine, blackberry and other flavors. We decided to purchase the muscadine and peach flavors. Now, I prefer to have 100% juice with no added sugar but I was really curious about these drinks. Although they were a little sweet for me, they were really authentic in taste and definitely would be a better choice than pop or other carbonated beverages. I have to say that their roasted peanuts are the real deal. They were very fresh, lightly toasted without salt and absolutely delicious! If you purchase these make sure that they are packed and placed out of reach in the rear of your vehicle because they are so tempting. I ate these as we drove home and made a tremendous mess in my van. However, they were so worth it!! Stop by and say hey!

Happiness = mountains and peanuts from Sunrise.
