Cute little store! We went specifically for muscadine cider & it was delicious. Also found a cute little gift to take home to our kiddo!

This is a shop you can buy souvenirs and also find out about the background of when Wallenda came here to walk across the highest point. Very cool spot to check out. They do not have restrooms here. They tell u to go down the street. There are restrooms and another beautiful view of Tallulah Point and Tallulah Gorge. Check it out and follow the signs.

Roadside Attraction Alert:…read more I loved the time I spent here for lots of reasons but honestly the view of the gorge from here isn't that impressive in the least, but it is free. You might as well grab a cold bottle of pop in the store on the first floor then head up the stairs and buy a square of fudge for a buck then walk out on the upper porch grab a stool and enjoy the view, if you have a pair of binoculars or a telescope you might have a chance of seeing something amazing otherwise enjoy the pop and cool breeze. Famed tightrope walker Karl Wallenda, founder of The Flying Wallendas, probably got the best view ever when he crossed the Gorge on a high-wire in 1970 or did J.A. St. John also known as Professor Leon, might have been the first to high-wire the gorge in 1886 other sources say a Professor Bachman walked the Gorge in 1883, regardless who did it or who did it first these guys had big balls. I won't claim to know the history of this place but there's no doubt the structure is nostalgic. It feels like the entire collection of buildings hangs precariously on the edge of a cliff (you must experience the upper porch to get the full effect). I think this would be a great location to set up a zip line across the gorge, now that's taking this collage of oddities to the next level. It's unbelievable that in this day and age that everything here is free except for the merchandise which clearly shows the lack of entrepreneurism but hey not everyone is a capitalist. It's a must stop if you're in the area if only to check in on YELP - I'm joking it's really like no other place on earth and the lady reading her book upstairs for hours on end makes some mighty fine fudge...

The cottage is located in a selection of specialized shops, it's a short drive outside of Helen (Georgia). The owner of the shop was the one to great us upon arrival and they gave us a tour of the interior and the small farm adjoining the shop. Before this shop I thought I hated lavender, I was dead wrong. The smell was herbal and floral- sweet not overwhelming. The selection of goods featured many items harvested fresh from the garden or hand dried. Even though it was a specialized ship the prices felt comfortable, with a lot of items available for under 20 dollars. The owners shear enthusiasm for their work made me happy and comfortable to be a patron.

This adorable little shop has everything lavender you can think of: neck pillows, essential oils, satchels, even sugar cookies and soda! Who could ask for more? The shop owner is so, so friendly and will answer any questions that you may have. My favorite thing to buy here is the Lavendin essential oil. It is the most potent and relaxing smelling (sorry about all the infinitive use lol) oil that I've purchased anywhere. The owner said the lavendin oil is stronger smelling than the lavender oil. In addition to the lavender goods, this cottage also sells clothes, the cutest baby things, and jewelry. And there are chickens in the garden area so don't forget to go say hi to them. Just remember to watch your fingers ;)

"I'm selling candles, sister." -- Once Upon a Time, Season 1, Episode 14…read more What a cute little shop along Main Street in Highlands, NC. My friends and I walked in to look around during our New Years trip to the area and enjoyed perusing the store. It's small, but packs quite a bit of merchandise and quite the variety as well. I'm not sure if the store has a true theme as there was everything from candles to gift cards to jewelry to some religious themed kid's books - but everything was very nice and mostly well-priced. I will say that the battling scents of all the candles and potpourri-type items they had in the store gave me a bit of a headache (combined with the heat on full-blast), but the staff was super friendly and asked if they could help me with anything. They seemed quite excited to have just received their first review on Yelp and were talking about it while I was looking at items at the front counter (gave me and my friends a smile). I was quite excited to find glass nail files (not an easy find) which were hand-painted - also very reasonably priced. I bought myself a couple and was on my way. Making a mental note for the next time I am in the area as these are great for gifts as well. They also had some earrings that I had my eye on - very nicely crafted. Definitely one of the top stores to spend your money in along Main Street - worth a stop!

The music sets the mood, and it ranges from toe-tapping bluegrass to old-timey hymns, all instrumentals using mountain dulcimers and the like. Shoppers begin to smile and reminisce, and memories of older, simpler times often cause a story to be shared. Penny patiently listens to everybody's stories; she says that's what makes her day. She has good merchandise, nothing too expensive, because she knows times are hard. Personal service is her forte, a box, gift wrap, a little extra tissue please. Funny cards cause laughter to erupt and joy seems to spread through the store. There are lots of bears, cute metal signs, bird houses, candles, garden flags, angels galore, journals and note pads, jewelry, and ,"you know, things my regular customers keep coming back for." And come back they do. Over and over they say, "This is my favorite store. We always come to Mountain Heritage when we come to Highlands, and we always find something we like!"
