Family safety concerns were dismissed; serious continuity-of-care failures I am writing from the perspective of a family member of someone who has been admitted to this detox facility multiple times over the past year. Our loved one has a documented history of severe alcohol use disorder, including prior ICU-level detox, a withdrawal seizure, and alcohol-related liver and gastrointestinal damage. Because of this history, continuity of care and accurate medication management are critical. During a prior transition from this detox facility to a rehabilitation facility, seizure medication was not forwarded as part of the discharge or transfer process. As a result, our loved one experienced a seizure shortly after arrival at the rehab facility. This was deeply alarming and raised serious concerns about care coordination and patient safety. Additionally, during a previous admission, our family was informed that our loved one was administered incorrect medication, including medication intended for another patient. Given these experiences, our family attempted to contact the facility during the most recent admission to provide factual medical history and express safety concerns prior to discharge planning. We were told we were "not allowed to call and tell them how to do their job." Calls were not returned, and our concerns were not meaningfully engaged with. We understand that addiction treatment is complex and that patients are often voluntary. However, dismissing family-provided medical history, refusing dialogue, and failing to ensure continuity of critical medications is extremely concerning -- particularly for repeat patients with known, life-threatening withdrawal complications. Families are often the only source of longitudinal information about patterns, relapses, and prior medical emergencies. In our experience, that information was not welcomed here. We hope this facility reflects seriously on its medication reconciliation, discharge coordination, and communication with families, especially when patient safety is clearly at stake. read more

Sunrise in Cherry Hill is my first choice to detox! They make you feel comfortable and the setting is chill. They're so many I wanna give a shout out to, they're all so awesome, a little xtra shout out to some Techs Errrrrica, Sydney, Paul, Julie(Jules). The counselors are very understanding and knowledgeable, Bre and Court, you two ladies are great!! And nursing, lead by Director of Nursing "The Don" Gina, who had did have one flaw, she's a Giants fan, but other than that her staff are always there when to keep me as comfortable as they're allowed. A very xtra shout out to RN Catherine, Cat, like seriously Cat *hugs* I shattered metacarpals while I was there, bad decision on my part, and without hesitation, after a glance, she had transportation on their way to take me hospital. If I do have any issues arise, myself, again Sunrise Cherry Hill is where I'd go.. Thank you all!!! B read more

If I could do zero stars for this review I would. First off, if you are under the influence why do they take 2 + hours to do an intake process with 5 techs on? Just Let me go to bed. Then, When doing my emergency contact I said my mother because I already told her I was going in but with bare minimum info about it all. I made it VERY clear that she can only know that I am there and I am OK. Nothing else, and I told them multiple times. If anything were to happen to me, God forbid they can call her. No one told me they would call her to update her on my progress initially, thanks a lot. WHITNEY, the counselor brought me in her office on day 2 to go over some mental health questions. Then she wanted just some updated information. She then told me she had called my mom and left a voicemail that I was ok and there at detox. I asked her if that's all she said because during intake I made sure they didn't check off anything about my treatment or my intake levels. Whitney told me word for word "I only told her you were OK and there at sunrise." LIES LIES LIES!!!!!!!!! I then find out from my mom she told her my alcohol level coming in, my recommended treatment plan, and that I was going to AMA on Monday morning so my fiancé and I can go back to work. We made this VERY clear and the recruiter that set up our beds for Friday also told them this. Yes it's less that 5 days for detox but we have good jobs that we have to get back to. We came on our freewill. No one forced us to go. The fact that Whitney was so nice (I give her that) but she lied to my face. Which the thing about recovery is HONESTY. And if I can't get that from the professionals from a detox facility how am I supposed to trust anyone at all that is supposedly trying to help me/us. I am livid and angry that Whitney lied to my face that she only told my mom I was ok but she actually told her everything. I believe this is so my mom would try to convince me and my fiancé to stay longer which would make us lose our very good jobs. I made it VERY CLEAR when Whitney told me she ONLY said I was ok but my mom now knows everything like my alcohol level, my potential treatment plan they gave me without talking to me, and that we were AMA'ing (which they knew about from the get go) which she never needed to know because she is in a different state and doesn't need to worry anymore than she already does. I am just beside myself of the miscommunication, the dishonesty, & manipulation. So, not only all that but I have severe nausea and vomiting from previous stomach issues and detoxing makes it worse. I spoke to the Dr this morning and she said instead of taking my normal nausea meds(which I brought) the nurse needs to give me a phenergan shot if I vomit again. I vomited after lunch, told the nurse and she gave me zofran which I'm immune to since I've been taking it for 15 years for my own personal stomach issues. So I take my 3pm regular detox meds and ask her for the phnergen shot. She asked when was the last time you vomited I told her about an hour and a half ago- when I asked for the shot and she wouldn't give it to me. She said I can only give you your anti nausea med you brought. But I literally brought phenergen in pill form but the doctor wanted me to get the shot because it's stronger and faster. The nurse refused to give it to me. I told her but that's what the doctor said this morning. Why is there such a lack of communication in this facility? Doesn't every patient have a chart with note from each person they see? It baffles me. With my fiancés meds and them not giving him the correct dose of subs he's had at previous sunrises like Toms River- they also refused to give him any type of maintenance that was sufficient. We tried and tried to speak to anyone there to help but no one would even call a Dr on call. So we left. Sorry but if your facility is not going to provide what they say they are or relay that information to the next shift nurse then why stay? We weren't getting proper care for either of us so why stay when we have all the meds at home. We specifically came to detox to get away from the drugs and alcohol and be PROPERLY MEDICATED but the unprofessionalism of certain nurses and 1 counselor was just topping on the chaotic cake during our stay. The counselors here are inexperienced and do not know how to relate to the families of patients very well. One of them was even dismissed during my loved one's recent stay. Choose another local detox program with more experienced and compassionate counselors. No one at the facility was wearing a mask in September 2020. read more
