I've been to RCA Devon, Mays Landing, and South Ambon locations all multiple times. I find them all to be very helpful and they tolerate all the bs I pulled while on my recovery journey. I was in the prize program a few times and it was a great environment to be in given I've been in rehab numerous times. I wish I could go back to RCA but I can't since my insurance changed-- but I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a solid recovery! RCA spiraled steeply downhill and will take years to get the right people in place like they once did. The corporate level positions need to retire or find a new line of work. They are destroying the company, their employees, as well as the patients care. RCA lost all respect from within & out. Send your loved ones elsewhere. Find employment elsewhere. read more

I self admitted to RCA Devon last week after an interaction between Naltrexone and Kratom, which I was a heavy user of. I immediately went into full withdrawal, and not knowing what to do, called RCA to admit myself for assistance through it. I was informed that a car would be picking me up in 30 minutes, and that I should pack for a 5 day detox. While trying to pack, their financial department immediately called me while trying to read the guidelines and pack at the same time. I had to pass the phone off to my wife to handle it while I desperately packed, still in full withdrawals. They continued to try and get this information as the clock ticked for the car. I eventually got through it and the car never showed. I instead had to have my sister-in-law drive me. Upon arrival I was strip searched, given no meds to ease my suffering and put into a room without a tour, or breakdown of what the day would be like. I was eventually given barbiturates (which is not normal for an opiate withdrawal) but unaware for a couple of days. Because I couldn't sleep they put me on a variety of sleep meds for the first couple days that didn't work, and settled on a drug called Remeron. It gave me hallucinations and muscle spasms, but not sleep. They told me that it was probably delirium tremens, despite me not being in for alcohol withdrawal. I expressed this to the night nurses on staff, but they insisted it would take a couple days to work. Despite initially being informed that detox would take 5 days, it turned out to actually be 8, and when I gave 72 hour notice for 5 days (if you don't give them 72 hours notice before leaving, they hold onto your possessions, license, credit cards, etc). Despite being allowed to leave whenever you want, I was treated like a flight risk and they called my wife, even though she was also told that it would be 5 days. Once it was straightened out, my designated therapist apologized the next day for not informing me. After 4 days of 3 hours of sleep (dosing through out the day) i developed chest pains and one of the nurse practitioners finally saw me. She asked why I was there and told me that she would've given me a different taper (buprenorphine and naloxone), but that since I was already half way through the taper of phenobarbital, I should stick with it. She also told me that I should refusing the sleep medicine to see if that was effecting me, the only good advice I got there from medical staff. The night nurses kept urging me to take it despite refusal but relented. I also have an injectable medicine I take twice a week and on one day when I was actually asleep awoken with twice my dosage in the syringe! They brought out 50ccs of my medication despite it being a drug that was 2mg per cc (should have been 25). 5 days in I was paired with a new roommate who was being treated for alcohol abuse. I learned from him that he also was not aware that detox was 7 days and despite me leading him to where his orientation meeting was supposed to take place on the schedule, no one was there. I wanted to make sure he wasn't left in the dark about everything as I was. Food trays stopped arriving for every meal by the 6th day due to the influx of new patients. The staff was clearly overwhelmed. On the last night I was there, I was given the sleeping pill (Remeron) that gave me spasms and hallucinations without me being aware. Of course, I became aware once the spasms and hallucinations began again. We were also greeted with a 5:15am fire drill, new patients who were detoxing and all. When I got home I was given a script for the meds I was supposed to continue to take and the pharmacy informed me that two of them interacted with each other bad. The pharmacy is still currently trying to get ahold of one of the 5 doctors or nurse practitioners who prescribed each one individually, but have been unable to successfully reach anyone yet, a period of more than 24 hours at present. Aside from that, while the RSS staff is nice, they seem to be very overworked and understaffed. No one is designated to tell new patients what they should be doing or where to go, despite the mazelike quality to the building that people have to navigate while on all sorts of drugs that induce drowsiness. There are no safety rails in the showers. The patients are mostly helpful and respectful to each other, as I'm sure they all understand how rough this experience is, especially with no guidance. read more

Beware: if you have a warrant they will discharge you into the hands of the police (all while lying straight to your face!) Then they will give all your personal belongings to a third party. They will violate HIPAA. They will refuse to give your your phone, wallet, keys, etc. if you AMA. The list goes on. Never felt more abused by staff at a rehab EVER!!! read more

Don't believe the pictures! This place is a total dump! They're only in it for the money. The food is horrible you're only allowed outside for smoke breaks so if you don't smoke you're screwed, they don't have 90% of the activities that they say they have, they try to get you to stay well passed what you originally intended, so they can get more of your insurance money, they screwed up my medication so bad that I had to go to the emergency room twice! They keep all of your personal belongings locked up and you have to ask for them repeatedly before anything is ever given to you. would never go back to this place. This place saved my life. Plain and simple. All these people complaining about "detox" and "insurance getting billed" haha. You got to rehab because you are addicted to drugs and alcohol and need immediate help. The staff here are dealing with 100 or more of us lunatics at a time, and literally do their best to help you. RCA became a safe haven for me. The psychiatrist really worked with me and answered any questions I had. Everybody that I was around was very professional and down to earth. My first admit, I was in the woman's group and it became a place we're I could really feel safe and taken care of. There is one floor dedicated specifically to women with trauma and they way it is set up, it lessen a load of trauma I had. Second admit, I was invited to their prize program that is specifically set up for patients who have come through multiple times. It is only for people who seriously want to get better because everything is definitely more accelerated. It was very very helpful to me and it is also the only floor that is co-ed. The only main negative for me is that I think their food is exceptional high in calories. It makes sense because many people come in under weight but for me I wasn't and I can a lot of weight really fast. Most of it's gone now but that is definitely something I would talk to my dietitian about, for them to help me get a good eating plan. read more

Very efficient in taking any form of payment prior to admission but horrible customer support after getting their money. Trying to get a simple, basic itemized receipt for the hefty credit card payment I made....5 calls and 3 emails later still don't have. I'm trying to submit for flex benefits reimbursement. For 3 weeks I've been hearing "someone is working on it" and getting through to anyone with authority is impossible. Completely incompetent customer support. read more

One of the best rehab clinics in the region. Very compassionate and empathetic staff, hotel-like amenities, all the meds and care you need to safely and comfortably detox, and lots of resources available to both get and stay sober. Also offers a great alumni association where you can connect with others you met while there and do fun sober activities together. My fiancé who was drinking too much and was doing some zanex , went there based on "oh we will make sure he's comfortable, don't worry every thing will be taken care of ..." NO. They did not take care of anything except maybe charge the insurance company for everything. .BE AWARE! They don't know anything about what they are doing !!. He had a Double seizure the second day he was there and that's because they took away everything he was taking with out weaning him off of the stuff.... Anybody who knows anything about addiction knows that , it's should have been gradual... but I guess they are not used to that???? He ended up in the hospital for two weeks after and they never even checked up on him .... I had to ask for his items back and there were more instances that I have to question before his seizure....Like what happened before the incident?... when you ask them , they don't know what happened . Hello RCA...that's your business to know what happens to our loved ones once they go to you.??? They don't seem to work on weekends when we as people who care about loved ones in there want to know what's happening to them at all times . I work weekends, so should they . And as much as RCA is charging you, you should have someone working on weekends.! I am seeking anyone whose had a similar experience with RCA because I am so furious that they did what they did to my fiancé . Since the seizure... he has had pain in his chest area and I believe it has to do with the seizures he had. He is getting work done to find out what's wrong and why he can't move as well as he was able to before going to RCA . If you are experiencing the same ..... post here! read more

Great facility/ program , other than someone (either another patient or an RSS or housekeeper) stealing over $200 worth of my makeup and jewelry and the admin were suppose to be looking at the Cameras to see who was responsible for taking my belongings or compensating me for the taken belongings. I have multiple witnesses also. Someone was suppose to be getting back to me and its been over 2 weeks now. read more

I checked into RCA Devon to detox off benozs my dr has been giving me for 13 years. During my intake I was given no tour, no schedule or introductions just strip searched and dumped in my room. The first couple days I was detoxing and feeling terrible and on multiple occasions the nurses almost gave me someone else's meds, I had to stop and ask them what was in the cup and they'd say opps sorry. Then a nurse said to me after my 2nd day of detox, "why are you even here, are you just gonna sleep all day? I've never even met anyone coming off JUST benzos". It made me feel like I wasn't supposed to be there because I wasn't a street drug addict. Another counselor yelled at me for sleeping too much, keep in mind they were giving me Phoenobarital which made me dizzy and sleepy!! No one communicates being there 24/7 I had to deal with 3 shifts of people and tell each of them the same thing over and over again. Housekeeping was not adequate. I ate in my room a lot because I was sick so I had piles of food containers. The floors were dirty everywhere in the halls and our rooms. The beds were pretty comfy. I'm unsure how other detox facilities work, but I felt really uncomfortable in the dining area. They mix men and women some in detox some in residential rehab. Standing in line with a bunch of men who are detoxing off powerful drugs, arguing with each other, agitated and angry was really unsettling. I just tried not to make eye contact. No one hurt or threatened me, but I'm in my pajamas detoxing feeling very vulnerable with a bunch of loud, animated men taking about drugs and jail. After 6 days I decided I wanted to leave and it took 36 hours of arguing and being told a different story by different people to finally get out. It was horrible and emotional. They said they are not keeping me against my will but they wouldn't return my license, phone and money until they figured out whose job it was. Then on my way out I checked my belongings and realized my $25 cash I had in my bag was "lost", they took my number and said they'd call me. It's been a few days, no call. They also sent me home with powerful anti-seizure meds with no consult, no directions, no side effect warnings. I got into a minor car accident today, then googled my medicine and it says it slows reflexes, so I shouldn't be driving. That would have been nice to know. read more

I recently got to experience treatment at RCA for the third time at the DEVON location and I half to admit this time was my worst experience ever. My therapist Kryst G was extremely unprofessional and every time I met with her she had the RSS Shamar in the room with us. Even had her sitting in group meetings where we Indulged not only our personal issues but 1 on 1 sessions where my personal HIPPA information was shared in front of her. I made complaints about this and they did nothing. I cant believe RCA allowed such behavior from the staff. It was obvious from the interactions and the conversations that this was a very intimate sexual relationship, I over heard them talking about what they will do to each other and observed them kissing in the parking lot from the window on 6D. I also feel it is not appropriate to listen to them talk about one of the nurses in the building in an unpleasing way or about some of the other girls on the unit I was on. I was able to report my concerns and come off of this therapist case load but to be at a place where this behavior is appropriate and continues is disgusting and I hope that in the future they find better therapist since the one I had obviously needs help since she is more worried about putting her co worker in her bed then my small problems like trying to overcome my addiction. RCA should better background check on the employees and teach them professionalism. Shamar was rude and always had an angry way about her and Kryst G entitled and not worried about helping us with our recovery. I would not recommend this place to anyone if they half to be with these 2 as there care team. read more
