Super disappointing experience!! I had heard so many good things about this bakery that I was excited to try it! I've heard all about the famous banana flips so that was my first choice! They are $3 each or if you buy them prepackaged two for $5, and they had absolutely ZERO banana flavor. ZERO! I have to assume the baker forgot the extract. It was mid morning so the choices were slim pickings. The person I was with opted for an old fashion cake donut, which had so much cinnamon it was almost inedible. I got a Bavarian cream "filled" Bismarck. Less than half of the donut had filling and it was flat and dense. Super disappointing. read more

it is becoming the norm (unfortunately) to need to include the fact that we are in COVID times when leaving notes or reviews, but here we are. The bakery did a fantastic job keeping people apart enough to meet the requirements and keeping the place clean. The staff was very accommodating and informative, telling us about the business and what they offer. The donuts were fairly priced, good portions and very tasty. Not living too close to this spot, I am looking forward to my next trip through town so I can indulge again! read more

I had been searching for a lunch spot in the area and Sunrise Bakery sounded good. It was a bit confusing at first as to where to order. The staff person could have been a bit more helpful with instructions. I had a pizza and the other half had a sandwich. Both were excellent. Will definitely return when in the area. We were there for lunch and the baked goods seemed a bit picked over. I am guessing there is a morning coffee rush. read more

Terrible service. I used to come all the time but every time I did, there was a certain cook named Wylie that would ruin our experience every time. Either by berating his coworkers to screaming at customers and continuously talking about all his experiences with drugs. I would love to come back if he was no longer there because your pizza is amazing. I've never seen him wash his hands, and does not change gloves after each order or money handling. read more

Great customer service, food and coffee! Love stopping in before work. However I did try an almond joy mocha specialty drink one time and tasted like plain warmed up milk. Maybe it was just a bad mix, but sticking to coffee from now on. read more

A wonderful local, family run bakery in northern Minnesota. I love to stop in for fresh donuts and bread whenever I am in town, but also frequently order their potica to be sent to family and friends for gifts. They have five varieties: pecan, walnut, walnut apple, walnut raisin, and my personal favorite poppy seed almond! These are all handmade delicacies and other than one dear family friend I have found none better anywhere. Worth a stop and be sure to get there early and get the donuts fresh! read more

So full disclosure I have never actually BEEN to Sunrise Bakery. But I HAVE had their donuts! Driving through Eveleth on a road trip I stopped to get gas at a little gas station off the highway. I was craving donuts and luckily enough I saw a handwritten sign that said "Sunrise Bakery" and below it were a few boxes of custard donut balls and banana flips. I asked the cashier which were better and she said they were both amazing but that the donuts tasted like a Boston crème pie. Sold. I hit the road with my box of mini BCPs. The lady was right. They were fantastic and were very Boston crème pie-like. Even though I'm pretty sure they were day old they were super moist and yummy. The custard was pretty minimal but a nice addition to the cakey donut nonetheless. They were rich. And large. I only ate maybe 3 before I was donutted out. So I brought the rest to my mom who also fell in love with them - and she's not really even a donut person. If their other items are as good as these donuts were than this place is legit. If I ever find myself in Hibbing, Sunrise Bakery will be my first stop. read more

The reason that trscking wasn't working was because package wasnt actually shipped on December 22 as the "confirmation email" stated. It was shipped on December 23. This is based only on donuts and biscotti (not the cafe)... I have been here twice in my travels, each time getting donuts and bringing biscotti home for later. I'm pretty sure fresh donuts from a legit bakery are almost always amazing, sooo... yeah.. But the lemon biscotti in particular had piqued my interest and I LOVE them! I have since gone to get every variety of biscotti they make and NONE of them disappoint. This is such a great find for a small community. Support locally owned business people! read more

Really wanted to like this place, but I've been there 3 times, and had nothing but bad service. 1st time I ordered a large mocha, they gave me espresso with 1/2 cup steamed milk and the rest foam, and it still didn't fill the cup. When I told the barista there was no chocolate in the drink, she grabbed the cup, put 2 pumps white chocolate and said if it wasn't good she'd add more. Figured they were working out the kinks, so waited over a month before going back again. 2nd time went on a Saturday for breakfast with my family. Was there 10 minutes after they opened and was told the cook didn't show up, but they might be there by 8. We had coffee and waited 45 minutes, no cook. 3rd time on a Wednesday morning, met 2 friends there shortly after opening for a mocha - was told the barista didn't show up, and although the woman at the counter could make us a mocha, she just turned on the machine and we would have to wait 15-30 minutes for it to heat up. If you just want a doughnut, this might be your place. read more

Just ate at Sunrise Bakery in hibbing with my husband. We had heard it was one of the best. First of all didn't have any juice. Second, worst doughnut I have ever had. Both my husband and I had 2 bites of our doughnuts and threw the rest away. They were super dry and tasteless. Tasted like they had been sitting there for days. My loving Slovenian grandmother would devote an entire day to making Potica. I watched her make the dough, have it rise, roll it thin, craft the filling and then hand-roll it within the finished dough. I was impressed by her concentration and diligence and of course, loved the reward. The potica from Sunrise Bakery tastes exactly the same as my grandmother's recipe passed down by Slovenian farmers. This bakery must use the same quality craftmanship (Italy and Slovenia are neighbors...luckily Potica is multinational).
