I hate, hate, hate paying too much for gas. I won't drive out of my way for it, but I regularly…read morepass about 10 different stations on my commute. The posted prices are usually within a few cents per liter of each other, but Centex is regularly the cheapest. The level of HAPPY that scoring the cheapest gas along my communte brings me is of epic proportions. Seriously. On Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, the price at the pump is 2 cents per liter cheaper than the posted price. They don't just adjust the posted price on these days either - the posted price is STILL lower than other stations. But where the REAL BIG savings come in is if your car, like mine, requires premium (91+ octane). Some of the other big guys (*cough* Esso *cough*) get sneaky and only post their price for regular gas. When you get to the pump, you realize that premium is $0.15+/L more than regular. Ohhhh SNAP. At Centex, premium is always $0.10/L more than regular. Always. So, lets get out our calculators. $0.05+/L more for premium, plus $0.02/L on Wed / Sat / Sun, plus having a regularly posted price a few cents cheaper than other stations.... adds up to at least $0.10 per liter. You might be thinking "10 cents? who cares?". WELL. Stats Canada says that the average Canadian drives 18,000km per year. At average fuel economy, the 10 cents savings will quickly add up to $200 per year! It will be even more if you drive an older car or drive more than average. Moral of my rant: Start filling up at a nearby Centex. Take the $200+ you save and treat yourself to a nice dinner at one of the fine establishments in town. All the customer service representatives were quite rude with me. Finally someone who called himself "Jay", though briefly he called himself "Jaydico" (the spelling of which might not be accurate). When I asked him about the tire ad, brought his calculator and just punched in how much I would have to pay for a tire or a set of 4 tires, not decribing the brand, tyre time, etc. He simply refused to tell me about the "Tire Sale" which was advertised outside Lube City. I was patient with him and repeated kept asking me about the details of the sale. Rather he kept saying that I need to pay $700+ for tire changes, the details of which he did not describe, while not answering my question. He said the "Tire Sale" ad means that Lube City sells tires, nothing more. When I insisted, he asked me to come to the office to talk about it. I did not see this a reasonable, so I did not follow him. Finally, he askked me to talk to BDM Mr. Javid Hashimi. I asked Mr Hashmi about the ad, and said that they have some good deals at first, but then again started talking about what I would have to pay, rather than describing the advertised "Tire Sale". Then he asked me that give the phone to "Jay", and came back with the same script as "Jay". He started using foul abusive language and asked me to leave. I made notes about the incident and he came back to appease me, saying that he too is a Muslim, talking in a foreign langauge to break a deal. After leaveig, I took a photo of the ad. He quickly came to engage me, but I did not speak with him and left. I just want Lube City to improve customer service for their own good and do not wish any resolution.

After the work was done I had to argue with them to honor their quotes, and they told me they never made the quotes and tried to charge me $217 before fees and taxes. They finally made it sound like they did me a favor and took it down to $175, STILL way more than quotes, but work was done and they had me. Who knew I'd need a written quote for a couple of air filter; (really, $70 for a $20 cabin filter?!?!). DONT GO HERE IF YOU'RE EXPECTONG HONESTY!!!

I'm not one to typically review a gas station. This one, however, has saved me on more than one…read moreoccasion when I've left a downtown club at 2am and found myself running on gas reserves. Bottom line: it's downtown, and it's open 'round the clock, so every club-going Calgarian needs to know about this particular station! 4* instead of 5 only because I once stepped in a small puddle of gas here and ruined my favorite pair of dance shoes. Not sure this is the fault of the station, but still...

However, there are a few basic points that make me happy that this particular Victoria Esso exists: 1. Location, location, location! I live in suburbia in the SE, so it is very handy to have a gas station at close and easy access on the way home. 2. It has a drive through car wash. 3. It has 3 access/exit points, so the parking lot is rarely a gong show with people trying to come and go. 4. It has a convenience store, which at times comes in handy. All and all, few complaints here with the location and services. My only concern is that there are, at times, homeless people that cause a minor disturbance. Not often, but it has happened on more than one occassion. In my opinion, this happens pretty much anywhere downtown, but it is a consideration with this location over the burbs. No fault of the business, but its definately a part of doing any business in downtown locations.

They threw out all my gas receipts for work and left a sticky residue all over the steering wheel. Rear bumper is covered in a dirty film. Now that's a surprise, when the cost of deluxe car wash was $94.49 with the GST, the driver's floor was not clean - justifying that they don't clean the "pedals", which has nothing to do with the floor, AND the cost to replace the windshield is to be determined, but I can guess. What a run-down service, with no customer satisfaction to speak of; not only I will never be going there again, but I highly recommend you do so too, especially if you care for your windshield. HA, HA, HA, they said certainly they didn't cause the cracking of my windshield because there was no other similar claim that day! Imagine what an excuse, as if they take responsibility ONLY if they have many claims of cracked windshield on a particular day. Plus, they don't offer discounts for such mishaps, they pocket full cost of the car wash, almost $100 bucks, and leave the rest on the "customer satisfaction survey" which does not exist for a good reason.
