Beware - they will trick you into spending money when you do not have to. Called AAA over a flat tire, and they sent Al's Sunoco to fill it with air. I had already made an appointment to Costco to get my tire switched out, but the mechanic insisted we drive to their shop so he could plug my tire. We asked if there was a charge, and he responded "no, it's just a flat." We then come to find out they do charge for it and it will not be covered by AAA. They chalked it up to a "misunderstanding" and aggressively denied that they would claim the plug was a covered service. No apology, no customer support. If you need AAA in the area, ask them who is coming to help. If it is Al's Sunoco, say no thanks - send someone else. They take advantage of you where they can, and I see other reviews here that mirror our experience. I will never trust them again. Go elsewhere and save yourself the pain. read more

If I could leave zero stars, I would. I learned from my mom today that this Sunoco charged her $5.00 to put air in her tires. She is elderly and asked someone to help her put air in her tires using the machine (which costs $2.00). She had asked for change to use the machine. The attendant offered his services then turned around and charged her $5.00! Utterly ridiculous and a terrible way to support your community, especially the elderly. You should be ashamed of yourselves!!! Never ever, go to this station and yes, I will pass this along to the rest of her elderly friends and the community at large. This place has been OK for the gas but when it comes to auto repairs, these guys are THIEVES. They will not mention the cost of service before hand, even if you will ask. In my case, the guy who received my car, said the initial test was complimentary, I will be charged only if I will authorize any work. When it was time for me to pick up the car, a lady named Patti had come to the shift. She said, she was the owner. She handed me $85 invoice. Owner also insisted for the money ONLY in cash, very fishy behavior. I was confident about my position that no cost was mentioned to me while dropping off the car so I asked the owner to cross check with security camera. She made an excuse that camera records only video, no audio. This was such an unethical cheating that it was hard for me to digest, I involved local police. Police decide to side with the business in this case. They also mentioned that is a civil case and not a police case. Police also didn't care about her excuse, not to cross check with camera footage. Police also was under the impression that these guys are good guys because there hasn't been any such report in the past. In contrast to that I see exact same modus operandi from other reviews too, overcharge and ask for cash. Guys, please report such behavior to police so that they have a record. Google also has such review about this place. Stay away from these CROOKS. If at all, you have to go there, take the cost estimate in writing in the beginning. Don't trust these unethical morons. I'm sure the gas station is fine, but Al's Auto Repair (the attached mechanic/towing service) is at the very least prone to absurdly overcharging their customers, and much more likely is downright dishonest. I had my car repaired there one time -- it stalled directly in front of the shop and I pushed it in right before they closed, asking if I could leave it there for a little until I came back with a tow truck. They told me I couldn't, until I offered to have them take a look at it; that's should have been my first red flag. After that, they told me that a very simple repair (which my regular mechanic quoted 1 hr of labor for) would take them 3+ hours of labor; they told me that my front driver side tire (which I had less than 5k miles on) was bald and "down to the cords," and that someone had previously attempted to replace my crankshaft position censor and broken it (which was later determined to be untrue). All told, they wanted to charge me over $1k for repairs, the majority of which were not necessary. Would not recommend. read more

He took my flat tire after installing my spare, brought it to their shop, and barely 30 minutes later called to tell me it was repaired and ready. I went to this shop to fix Oxygen sensor fail on inspection. The owner promised to fill the inspection fix report after repair. I paid about $500 changed OS2 and replaced another part. At the end the owner refused to fill the form. after that I had never went to this gas station even for gas. read more

I have had nothing but positive experiences at Al Sunoco in west Windsor Today I had an issue where the cap of the coolant tank was jammed solid. I wanted to take it to pep-boys, where they told me sight unseen it would take $35 minimum to do a coolant review. I took it to ALS where when he was unable to open the cap by hand, he went to garage and came back with a specialized tool that did the job. Al refused to accept any payment for it. In a previous occasion I left the car there for an oil leak - turned out the pan at the bottom was loose, he merely tightened the screw and issue was solved - also at no charge! The repair prices here are competitive, very reasonable compared to dealer. All the official police/fire and emergency vehicles from neighboring towns also come here for service, so that means they can be trusted. I highly recommend to others read more

BEWARE of Al's! Although the gas station attendants are helpful (like Patricia below mentioned - they will help put air in your tires), the garage is another story! Al cheats honest hardworking customers, lies about work done to the car, hides documentation proving that he is wrong, and swindles money by making customers pay in cash - further hiding paper trace. He will do work to your car that doesn't need to be done, without asking your permission! If you use AAA, make sure to request a tow from a different source. read more

So nice and helpful. My car's tire pressure light went on this morning and I thought I could handle this issue on my own. Sadly, I was wrong. It was so cold out this morning I couldn't even get the caps off the tires. I left the gas station I was at and headed to Al's, knowing they're a full service station and would probably try to help me instead of ignore me. There was an employee helping someone else with their tires who checked and filled all 4 tires for me and then took care of someone else after me. Thank you, Al's Sunoco! My battery died at the train station. Called AAA, who said they'd send someone out within the hour. Ninety minutes later, with the first driver still 40 minutes away, someone from Al's came over and jumpstarted my car ASAP, and gave me a lot of helpful info. I'm somewhat new to the area and the AAA towed me there. I just called AAA to ask them to reconsider using this place as an affiliate of theirs. Tom, the morning manager originally told me he thought the price would be somewhere between $300-400. I had to leave and he calls me 20minutes later to tell it was going to be over $600. He is either a terrible estimator or a cheat because he knew I could not just go grab my car and take it somewhere else (car didn't start at all). I was able to get a little discount, but when I went to pick it up there was a break down in communication. The night manager had no idea about discount was that was arranged with Tom. I had to come back the next day to pick up my car so I could talk to Tom who gave me the price we talked about on the phone. The night manager asked an employee to give me a ride home. The driver was incredibly rude and made me really uncomfortable. It came to the point that I asked him to pull over and I walked the rest of the way. The document that Tom had the next morning with the correct price, was not the same document that night manager had the night before. Tom states that it had to be the same document, but it was not. This place has clear problems with communication and deceit. I highly recommend not going there, and if you have had problems with them and are A Triple-A member, tell AAA members relations so they are not affiliated with them anymore. read more

My car needed a new tire and rim. The quote for a new rim was more that I would want to pay and so I asked for one from a junkyard. Al's Sunoco found one for me. I think that what they charged me for the total was reasonable in today's market. And it was a nice last touch to have my windshield cleaned. :) read more

Always friendly staff, do your windshields for you and check/fill your tires. Also if you buy oil, they will fill it for you and give you the rest. During winter they put down salt after snow to keep you safe and if you ever are in a pinch, they're towing service is the only one I trust. Best in the area. read more

When I went out to my car last Thursday after work to head home, I turned the key and... nothing! I called Al's and they sent a truck. The driver tried a few things also, but nothing worked. Since I had AAA the tow cost nothing and I left the car at Al's for them to take a look. The truck driver offered to drive me home and I accepted his offer. Halfway home he received a call from the station which told him my car was now starting normally each time they tried! I said to keep the car and check everything they thought might be the problem. Monday morning I stopped in to see what the plan was and was told they had found and replaced a cracked battery terminal. That's reasonable given the symptoms. There is no way to tell if that was the only problem, but they had found nothing else so I took the car back. Cost? $50. Very reasonable. Maybe the problem is solved and maybe not, but if it happens again I'll take it back to Al's as I am impressed with their skill and their professional approach to the problem. I believe I've found a group of mechanics I can trust to do a good job and treat the customer fairly. read more
