I stand by my previous observation on the gas lines, however this time we were starving so we braved the lines for food. Honestly, the line wasn't that long. If you can hold out to the next Buccees, you might be better off. But I will do even this Buccees before I hot a regular gas station!

This is a tiny little gas station out in the country. You can find it just off I-16 exit 32 (SR 112…read more- Allentown, Montrose) in the small town of Allentown. Note: At the time of writing this review, Yelp has an incorrect map marker for this gas station. I've submitted a fix and hopefully a Yelp moderator will correctly accept it by the time you read this. The station only has 4 pumps. When I visited, the pumps were a bit worn and the displays were hard to read. At this station, you actually pump first and then pay inside with cash or credit card. When I walked inside, a polite young lady behind the counter had a notebook with all of the pump prices owed handwritten neatly in succession. After I paid, she crossed my price off the list. Old school. The entrances to the restrooms are located outside, but you have to go inside the convenience store first and then back out through the back of the store because access to the restrooms directly from the outside has been blocked off by a chain-link fence. I used one of the two restrooms. It was very small, but clean enough. They had run out of paper towels inside the restroom so they let me use the roll sitting on the counter inside the store. As I was leaving, a burly old man dressed in camo entered the store and asked the lady how her mother was doing. There's an abandoned gas station across the street. It looks like a great setting for a (horror) movie.

The stretch farther east, between Statesboro and Savannah, is better because it has a relatively new QuikTrip. This Love's has 12 standard pumps and doubles as a truck stop. There's a Chester's Chicken and Subway on site. The restaurants and convenience store are open 24/7. This is Love's Store #320 and it's located about halfway in between Atlanta and Savannah at I-16 Exit 49: SR 257 - Dublin, Dexter.

I've stopped at a many Pilot Travel Centers across this land and I must say most are dirty and…read moregrungy, it's tough out here on the road and nothing comes easy as you burn up the blacktop, whether you have eighteen wheels or two these travel centers are popular. Cars and Bikers out front jockeying to get a spot at the pumps, the diesel rigs out back, the truckers like it that way, just ask them four wheelers are a distraction, a pain in the ass and are nothing more than rookies behind the wheel. The locals use this place as a convenient store, some of their mommas work here, they step out the front door to sneak a smoke and they'll tell you "I'll be right in hun" - this place turns and burns and there ain't much time to take a break so excuse the butts on the ground, some twisted and smashed some still have a ember and the homeless pray they find it before it gets snuffed out, they hit is while digging through the trash looking for a empty aluminum can or a half eaten honey bun. My rigs hold a little over one hundred gallons so I have time to people watch and see poverty first hand. I don't feel anything but empathy for those that struggle and I never judge those that are less fortunate. I think most are doing the best they can in the situation they're in even though some are living with a history of bad decisions we rather know what landed them here. They don't scare me and I don't look down on this percentage of our population, I help them out when I can and if I'm honest when can't I help them out? - it's my choice, so judge me on my actions instead of judging them on their situation. The pump nozzle just kicked out, my break from the road comes to an end and I know I may never pass this way again. I hope I made a positive impact, my payment at the pump is an invisible contribution to a cause I may or may not knowingly support. I didn't go inside so I don't know if the restrooms are clean or dirty, I didn't interact with the staff so I can't comment on the level of service - this place did provide me a place to see a little piece of the world today and I'm thankful for that. I'm committing to paying it forward - all of us can spare some pocket change so leave some on the edge of the trash bin, on top of the pump or on the curb, we'll all be better for it. Each time I've stopped, the dog park has been relatively clean from dog poop, which is nice. It's a spacious area, good for throwing the ball and getting a couple of run-arounds in before your trip continues. The park is fenced in with a double-closed gate to be able to unleash your dog safely. There are places for the humans to sit too, and there are usually doggie waste bags available (although, if you're traveling with your dog... you probably have some!). The store is clean, as are the restrooms. And the gas prices are on par - you're not getting gouged which is refreshing, considering the super easy off/on location. Overall, it's a great stop that we'll use again on this route.
