I had previously gone to one down the street which was awful and disgusting. So it was a relief to come here and see how clean and operational it is. I purchased a dog wash pass and have used it twice. Both times my dog seems to enjoy it. They have clean washing stations, a selection of shampoo, warm water, towels, aprons, and dryers. The dryers are like Luke warm, wish they were warmer. But they get the job done! I plan on continuing coming here for my pets needs and washing.

I have mixed feelings about this shop. I love supporting a local business, and the people here are very nice. They have a decent selection of fish, and many that are uncommon at other similar stores. Their display tank is pretty. They are one of the few places that sells corals. Not all fish stores have cleaning crews available, but they have a good selection of shrimp, crabs, and snails. Also they are the closest store of this type to my home. But they just don't take great care of a lot of their tanks. This seems to be an issue at most aquarium livestock stores, but that's no excuse. It makes me question wanting to support them when I see depressed looking fish swimming around. Maybe they just got them, or maybe they are sick....but there are usually at least a few that just don't look happy. Yesterday I saw a poor tang that looked completely malnourished. Along with this most of their coral tanks were in need of some TLC. Their frags had aiptasia, and were not bright and vibrant as they should be. On our most recent visit my husband and I just bought food and some hermit crabs. There are signs all around marking sales, a lot of the fish say they are 30% off, and the invertebrates were supposed to be 15% off if you bought at least $25.00 worth. When we checked out the cashier gave us our total, and I asked if we'd received the additional discount. She shrugged rather unapologetically and said, "No," but that she could add it. Um....I shouldn't have to remind you of that. The customer before us had to tell her to add a discount as well. If you're going to have all these "sales," your associates should know what they are. Maybe she was new, but I don't want to have to be "that person" that questions the price on everything when I'm checking out. This isn't all to say it's a bad place to do your aquarium shopping. I really want to like it. But just keep these things in mind when visiting. If nothing else at least if you buy a fish you can take him home and maybe give him a little better life. I feed wild birds and go through a 40 pound bag of bird seed in a month, so the small bags wouldn't work for me. While looking for the bird seed, I didn't really see large bags of anything. This might be a good place to go for a lot of things but if you want a large quantity of something, this is not the place to go. It did seem like a nice mom and pop place to support, though.

They did show me their new store cat who is very cute and they said the back area is very large for him. Other places have charged me anywhere from $100 to $150 without question, and places cheaper than DNW have done some pretty poor work on him. Everything is so expensive now, but their prices feel fair and reasonable. I really appreciate them, and so does Doug, my dog.

Our pup was wounded during a trim, some skin snagged with the shears, and though it was superficial, she started bleeding a good bit. They cared for her like she was their own. We were informed about it immediately, the bleeding treated, and she was dressed with some ointment to help stave off infection. The owner told me to call them if she ended up having any more bleeding, needed any veterinary care, or it otherwise became infected. If you have ever tried grooming a dog with clippers, you can understand how easy it might be to accidentally clip something you shouldn't. However, they still held themselves accountable and wanted to take care of us all. We've been back twice since then for grooming. Now I say this -- 10 years we've seen them for haircuts, and only the one minor incident. They are confident experts and guarantee their work.
