The car service that I normally used was located in Woodside. It was always dependable but it was closed. I panicked a little because I had a really early flight and using a new car service which I have never used made me feel uncomfortable. I came across Sunnyside car service online but what caught my attention was their sign had Paisa Classic. I used to use Paisa car service that was in Sunnyside Queens before they closed. I always had a great experience with them in the past. This was my first time using this car service which is located in Astoria. We reserved a car the day before and it came on time. We received a text letting us know that our car was on its way plus the type of car that was coming to pick us up. I will definitely be using them again. Hit or miss. Sometimes fast, sometimes cheap. The prices aren't consistent. If calling from a bar, your driver is likely going to try to take advantage of your level of intoxication(regardless of how drunk he thinks you are), and jack you on the price. I don't think I've ever had a more pleasant experience from beginning to end with any other car service in the city. When I called around midnight to order a car for the next morning, a friendly, crystal clear voice answered the phone after a few rings (no gruff "hold please" or machine/hold music). I gave my phone number, address and destination and he quoted me at $15 from my place in Woodside/JH to LGA - a good price compared to most! I asked if they took credit cards and he very politely informed me that their credit card machine was broken at the moment though they hoped to accept CC again soon. No problem since I expected to pay cash anyway. My driver arrived exactly on time this morning. The car was a standard sedan with leather seats and a Sunnyside Car Service sign in the window. The ride was smooth and quick, and the price was the same $15 I'd been quoted on the phone. My only minor complaint would be that the driver rang the doorbell instead of calling my phone first, but that's more a personal preference because I don't live alone and my roommates were still sleeping even though it wasn't super early. I'm sure if I'd specified they would have called my phone instead. It's sad to have to be so impressed by basic phone manners but if you've ever had to call a car service in Brooklyn or Queens you probably understand. As I woke up this morning, I had two thoughts. First, I thought how delicious my leftover chix parm tastes and second, how awful my experience with this company was last night. My friend and I had tickets to the Farmborough music festival on Randall's Island. The forecast called for monsoon-like weather, so we thought ahead and called for what we thought was a reservation for a car service to pick us up at 11pm. The dispatcher very kindly took our reservation and confirmed pickup at the desired time. 'No worries, we will see you at 11.' Well, Mother Nature kept her end of the bargain, which is more than I can say for this service. I called ahead to ensure the car would be waiting for us. To our shock and dismay, we were told that none of the drivers felt like going to Randalls Island and therefore the reservation was cancelled. Immediately, I felt a wave of anger, frustration and disappointment. How can a company who takes a reservation simply cancel it without warning or notice? And in the pouring rain no less? Just when we needed a ride the most. I truly hope people are on notice of this cautionary tale and take appropriate action to punish this company for its absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable behavior. read more

I've used Sunnyside Car Service twice now and both time were excellent. I called the day before (less than 24 hours, shame on me) and they didn't seem to have a problem with that. Both were extremely early in the morning, but they were both right on time. I got charged the same price twice from Sunnyside to LGA ($28, none of the bait and switch problems that others have had). I should note they only take cash and don't make change, so bring what you need! Car services are more expensive than taxis but between this service and another company I've generally found them to be better drivers and far more honest overall - it really depends on the driver you get. I'm using these guys again tomorrow, so wish me luck! *Update: I've used the car service maybe 5 or 6 times now. All experiences were great until the last one. The driver kept me waiting a long time and kept pushing back his estimated arrival time. The company was apathetic when I called to get kept. I finally had to hail a green cab (20 minutes later) and would have missed my flight if it hadn't been delayed. Turns out the driver never came. In the future I don't think I can rely on these guys for a flight. Mostly I've had good experiences but its still dangerously hit or miss - I'll let Yelp users decide for themselves. Was busy eating an apple. I came outdide to look for the car. He doesnt know the road and asked me for directions i opened the gmaps. Then after drop off he asked for $45. I've been a loyal customer of Sunnyside Car Service for almost two years now. I keep them on my speed dial and they've always been amazingly on time for the trips I need to take to the airport. However, the past few times I've used them I've experienced terrible service from the dispatcher. Either I'm being told that I'm calling too early to make a reservation (I called within 48 hours and they told me to call in 24 hours) or I'm being told they have no idea if someone will be available on holidays. Normally, I wouldn't expect any service to be open on holidays, but the Sunnyside website clearly says 365 days a year. I'm terribly sad to have to look for a new car service, but enough is enough. read more

I love Sunnyside Car Service. An old roommate I used to live with recommended me to them back when I lived in Sunnyside and I've kept their number on speed dial since. All the drivers I've had have been super nice, professional, great drivers, with clean cars. Not that I take car services ALL the time - but they are reliable for showing up on time, anytime day or night. Prices are reasonable and a little less expensive than other services I've used in the area. $17 to LGA, $30 to JFK (from Woodside) - they've also picked me up from the airport before which was a little tricky with a million black cars, but it worked out fine. read more

I booked this car service to go to the airport for a 4:15am pick up and they quoted me $25. At 4:15 I get a call from them and the guy tells me that I was misquoted yesterday and that the guy was new and didn't know what he was doing. I said ok, what is the actual price, he said $35. I told him never mind I don't want it, he was a bit taken back but never offered to change the price. They didn't call earlier but right at the time that you need them thinking that you are desperate and will go for it. I then called Fenix, they charged $28 and told me they would be at my house in 5 minutes, they got there in 4 minutes. After this review I was contacted by Sunnyside CS and was told that in fact I was misquoted by the first person I spoke with but that when they came to pick me up they should have honored the first quoted price which was their mistake not mine. They apologized and offered to make it up with my next need of a car service. A company should be judged as much on service as is should be judged on how it responds to it"s mistakes. Since this isn't the only report of them switching the price lets hope the company puts in place policies that will prevent this type of customer abuse. read more

I would give Sunnyside Car Service a higher rating were it not for their online reservation system. I just moved to Woodside recently, and this was my first time using SCS to get to LaGuardia to catch a flight. I reserved a car online two nights before my scheduled departure rather than calling. I received no confirmation email or call to know my reservation had been received, which made me nervous. After waiting for over fifteen minutes on the day of my departure past the time I had reserved and no car arriving, I called and explained my situation. The girl on the phone took down my information, apologized, and immediately sent a car, which arrived in just five minutes. The driver was friendly, quick, and charged me just $18 from my apartment to my airport terminal, and the car was immaculately clean. Moral of the story: I will use Sunnyside Car Service again, but ONLY CALL to make my reservation from now on. read more

DO NOT USE... this am, my wife arrived on a 15 hour flight from India at 4;45am. A solo woman traveller. I pre paid and booked a meet and greet for her at Newark. Prepaid $120 - crazy price but this is Newark to Queens. Fine. The driver told my wife that the car was not paid for. If she had not been able to contact me then payment would have been taken twice. Unacceptable. I called Sunnyside cars and they then told me that it was now $154 because the flight was delayed. This is a 15 hour flight - they said that they would track the flight, but still I was charged extra. Unacceptable. The dispatcher I spoke to lectured me, talked over me telling me he has been in the business for 10 years and that he was giving me a discount, which was insulting. I've been booking cars for longer and this is not how it works. Completely unacceptable. This company does not believe in the customer being right.. Sunnyside Car Service is my absolute favorite car service in the Central Queens area. I used to use Santo Domingo as my default, but Sunnyside is faster, their prices are always the same, AND they accept cards Yes, folks, you heard me right. I can call on a super busy morning and get a car at my door in Corona within ten minutes. They are consistent with naming their prices, regardless of traffic. I joke that John C. is my own personal driver. (Seriously-- he always drives me, and has seen me get into the car with sheet marks still on my face.) He always assesses the traffic on the bridges and in the tunnel and then makes an informed decision. He actually CARES about getting me to where I need to go in the least amount of time possible. The cars are super nice-- think Lincoln Towncars with leather seats. Prices are definitely awesome, too-- thirty-five bucks to Wall Street from LeFrak City? Yes, please. I don't even think you can get that price with yellow cabs! If you pay with credit card, be sure to tell them over the phone AND tell your driver as soon as you get in, because they have to call over the phone to verify the company and numbers, etc. HOWEVER, be sure to factor in your tip when you give the driver your card. You can't just add it on at the end. I forgot this today, and poor John had to be tipped via Starbucks gift cards. He didn't mind, though. Anyway, I can't say enough good things. Confused and kind of disgusted by this place. We called in the morning to make a reservation to be picked up from an event at 11:00 that evening. They quoted us a price (a little more than we expected but fair enough) and gave us all the information of where to meet them. Flash forward to 11:00 in the down pouring rain and they aren't there. We called to double check, assuming they were running late. Nope, they just decided that "no one wanted to come there." What?!? We had already waited in the rain for 15 minutes and now they were just CHOOSING NOT TO COME. I couldn't tell you more about it because the guy at Sunnyside promptly HUNG UP on us! There are absolutely no words for a "business" that operates the way they do. I am really surprised at the bad reviews for this Car Service. Every time I have called they come within 5 to 7 minutes . Wow !!! I even joked and asked '' did you follow us this morning ??" I've never once had a bad experience with them; whenever I need an early morning car to the airport, whether for me or a traveling family member, I've always called Sunnyside and they've always been reliable, and always the same price. Clean cars, and always a couple minutes early. If you aren't waiting outside the building, they'll give you a call to let you know they're outside. No complains here. read more

We recently visited Sunnyside and used this service twice. Our first experience was great. The driver was on time, clean car and a very reasonable price for taking 4 people to Central Park West. The second pick up however, was not as ideal. The driver was late and, like the experience of another reviewer, changed the price on us when we reached our destination. We tried to call the service center but couldn't get through. Wound up paying the price, but didn't include a tip. We later reported the driver to the business management and they were very apologetic. Hoping they deal with some of their less than ethical staff. Sunnyside Car Service is wonderful - I woke up 20 minutes after I was supposed to be at work and in a total panic looked up the nearest car service. The dispatcher sent a car to pick me up within 7 minutes and the driver had an awesome sense of urgency and asked me which route I preferred (whichever is fastest!) I had to call the dispatcher back to pay with a credit card over the phone, which was no big deal, I still got a receipt. It wasn't a great rate (more than it cost me to get from La Guardia into the city in January with a yellow taxi) but it was fantastic, prompt professional service. Both the driver and the dispatcher were friendly and humorous. I definitely recommend them! read more

I just used this car service to get to a remote part of Forest Hills and the service was fast and quick. I called and got dispatch and they had a car there in 8 minutes. The driver was awesome, we bantered about NYC traffic, the new 25 mph speed limit and how it's an attempt to shake down drivers, and how there could be so much traffic on Queens Blvd on a Wednesday. The car was well maintained and the seats were great. Even the seat belt was smooth. The driver was a smooth driver too, he actually knows how to drive in NYC those types are rare. read more

But they said management had changed so I was willing to give it a try. I asked for a car in 30 minutes to move some boxes from Queens to BK. The guy arrived in 20 minutes, no BS, I loaded the boxes in, he engaged in small talk, no drama on the drive. So maybe management can change the quality, did I get a freakishly good driver, were the stars aligned? I have no idea but I would DEFINITELY use Sunnyside again after today.
