Never once did a camp host come by in the first 7 days. Never once did they change the numbers on my pole. It still had dates from months ago. On day 7 while I was putting up second tent for my son a very angry man stopped by in a golf cart. He was yelling about us leaving in a day. I explained to him we had the lot for two weeks and offered proof by receipt in my email. He got even angrier and threatened me with some man name Mike paying me a visit!?!? After he realized he was wrong he tried to tell us we could not have two tents. Not true. I had to show him proof on my phone. Then he tried to tell us our tent we just put up was in the wrong place. It was not. I showed him the lot map. The man seemed intoxicated but I'm not sure. After he left he went to the next lot and yelled at that man . I personally have never been treated so rude. This place has no real camp host. This place has no hospitality. The camp host from lot #20 is a real creep. There is something not right with him mentally and I suggest others do not camp near lot #20 camp host. The camp host at lot #20 needs to be fired. He should not be around families or children. Beware of this park for many reasons. 1) camp host lot #20 2) homeless 3) dirty , trash everywhere. 4) no good trails 5) no water access 6) pot smoke and meth smoke in the air at night 7) camp host #20 8) camp sites are uneven mud pits Untill this park puts real camp host in place it will remain a dump. When we arrived at check-in, it was super easy to get checked in and everyone was very kind. They have a store with some small items if you forgot anything. The owners live on site and they let me and my kids go visit their puppies and play in the puppies area/run house. They are very kind and spoke to us often throughout. They even offered to go to the store to pick AA batteries for us and a couple other things instead of us going to the store and purchasing it from them directly that was very kind and going above. The only reason for the four star is, I did call them to get additional towels for the cottage house we rented. Whoever answered the phone had hesitation in their voice, and seemed annoyed that I was asking for extra towels. They asked how many people were in our party because they saw a lot of people.kitchen told them yes we rented the cottage house +3 primitive cabins we had a large party, but we were not over using any space. He thought hesitation in his voice and I explained to him we only had two towels and he was more than welcome to come check if he doubted us he said oh that's strangely usually put four or five in the house I said well, they didn't then they offered to bring more as much as we all spent for the entire weekend. It was a little frustrating how we were treated in that specific scenario. They had paddle boats you could rent and we rented two. It was a decently priced 35 for four hours. They also have horseback riding and a couple other things that you can pay additional for. The cottage was fully stocked. A fantastic little getaway in the camper that's not too far from home no matter where in the St. Louis area you live. Affordable camping with two very clean shower houses, fishing, archery ranges, two pavilions and a clubhouse to rent for occasions. Playgrounds for the kids and grandkids, affordable camper storage for members, and a nice walking trail with a mysterious hidden spring in the woods. We bring our kayaks down sometimes and paddle around the big lake. It's a really nice club to be a part of.

Even though I am not a regular/seasonal, those people welcome me with smiles, and some even recognize me from previous visits. Well, they probably recognize my dogs, but that is OK too. This place is very dog friendly too. I have been coming here for 4 years, and each year the place gets better. Dennis and Michael really care about their place and their customers, and it shows. The addition of a food truck was a good idea for when we get lazy or for the tenters (I am in an RV).

We arrived at the campground around 4pm and the office was closed already. We thought that was…read morestrange. We took our late arrival packet and drove to our spot. The campground had maybe 3-4 campers, it was desolate. Our spot was right next to the dumping station and we thought we'd try to call the number and see if we could move a few spots over. After waiting on a hold loop for 5 minutes, we gave up. We set up in our assigned spot. The bathrooms appeared clean but showers were outdated. The site was quiet. When we woke up we discovered little ants all over the outside and inside of our camper. They were crawling up our doorway into the camper. We killed as many as possible and packed up as quickly as possible. We didn't have any open food in the camper, it was packed in containers in our truck. Again - I wish we were not next to the dumping station. I'm hoping our next stop we don't open up to a ton of ants. Those little ants are big pests and hard to get rid of and not pleasant in a tent. This campground is not owned by KOA anymore - Kiefer Campgrounds are now the owners.

Saturday evening there was a band playing and a food truck there another couple had came over to our campsite and asked if we wanted to play cornhole we always bring it with us and instead of doing that we all ended up talking well after the band stopped they were breaking down and my husband turned our stereo on. The four of us are in our 60s, we aren't young kids that play music really super loud. There was no on either side of us. Nor behind us it was a big open field. The manager Loretta over to our site guns a blazing telling us that we to turn the music down that she was getting a bunch of complaints actually the band was still breaking down and the food truck just left and we were having a conversation so there's no way that the music was loud. My husband jokingly said well as soon as you leave, we'll just turn it back up lol even meeting this couple for the very first time they knew that he was joking as I did also. she told us that we should pack up and leave right then and there, knowing that we were drinking alcoholic beverages all day. Who does that kind of stuff nobody I know. I would never allow anybody to leave my home after drinking all day. She tried to come and talk to me the next day, but she has a hair up her ass for my husband. She always seems to have something to bitch about and we spend a lot of money there. we will never go back there. Also, the place is a mess. There was an inch and a half of water in the bathrooms by the pool. The pool was so scummy and disgusting. And if she thinks we were making loud noise, try going to playground at 11:30 at night when there's a bunch of kids running around and screaming and playing until their parents decide to go and tell to come in. 1130 at night kids at a playground. Yet she has to yell at 60 year old people for having a radio on please. Loretta is disrespectful talks bad about her other employees which she can't keep anybody there they quit and they talk bad about her too. We will never go there again, and I would never advise my worst enemy to go there. We were also told by an employee that 90 percent of the people that are there live there! And you can tell... rusted out campers, clothes hanging outside, toys in their yards. what a dump!

We pulled around to the check in office around 630 and discovered the office was closed. We called the number with no answer and then went to the office to see if there were late check in directions. Unfortunately there were not. There were multiple sites open so we decided to pull through a spot right next to the office so we could pay in the morning. After pulling through a man on a gator pulled up to us yelling and raising his hands aggressively "we are closed!" Alarmed by his reaction we left. I've never encountered a more rude campground interaction. We won't be back ever which is too bad bc the grounds are very nicely kept. Please add a sign "absolutely no late checks ins without a reservation " so u don't have to yell at anyone else.

Makes me wanna be a kid again. My favorite though, is the wildflower meadow. Perfect for birdwatching. There's also campsites near a creek that you can see from the lookout by the playground.
