I am SHOCKED to see negative reviews on here. I've gone to Sunny's for as long as I've been driving and would never go anywhere else. The owner is honest, fair, and the prices are great. He will never do unnecessary work and has actually refused to "repair" something before it actually needs to be done. For example, he thought I needed an oil change based on the mileage (many months after my husband changed the oil), checked it and told me it's unnecessary and the oil is good. Most mechanics would have just done the oil change to correct more money. I also thought, based on AAA, that my alternator needed to be replaced but my car just needed a new battery ($200 cheaper). They broke my car and blamed me. I brought my car to this place for an oil change and tire rotation. They could not unscrew the lug nuts but forced it anyway and broke the lug nuts. The owner told me to go buy a new set of lug nuts and pay for it out of pocket and bring it back another day because it wasnt their mistake then he WALKED AWAY from me. Very very unprofessional and rude. Now that the lug nuts are broken. I feel unsafe driving at high speed on the freeway. I dont trust that the wheels are fully and securely connected to the car. Btw, the wheels cant be removed/rotated anymore. It will cost me $200 to fix that. Last but not least, they topped off my car coolant with TAP WATER. I caught it red handed. They put tap water in the coolant bottle to make customers think it's coolant. Tap water will evaporate and cause your car to overheat easily. This is a very expensive repair. AVOID THIS SHOP IF YOU VALUE YOUR CAR AND YOUR LIFE. read more

I've been going here for a year now and while they're not exactly Whole Foods quality customer service, I think they're nice enough in the gruff distant uncle kinda way. I like that they're very reasonable in price and don't try to rip you off like other places. I also think they're pretty fast and you can get an oil change in like 15 minutes. Once you become a regular like me, they are even nicer and try to do extra things like top off my coolant and inflating my tires. They also don't charge labor for the small stuff like tire changes and oil changes. Parking gets a little confusing when they get super busy and crowded, but you can park on the side streets of they have no room and they'll move it later. Some of them know English, but it kinda is recommended to bring a Vietnamese friend/relative. They also accept Visa and MasterCard. All in all, I think they're solid even though it's kinda ghetto looking but it's cheap and good work! read more

Mr. Kien is an honest, skillful mechanic, but I can't say the same for his technicians. I came in for 2 front struts replacement in Aug 2017 and found out 1.5 years after the strut replacement that my 2 new front tires (installed Jan 2017) were completely worn down to zero tread depth on the outer & inner edges. It is the industry recommendation to do a wheel alignment with every strut replacement because the process requires an adjustment to the toe & camber which can cause a misalignment. Unfortunately, no wheel alignment was performed or even offered or recommended which resulted in my new tires being worn out unevenly. Mr. Kien said that a wheel alignment is only necessary if the car is not steering properly and his technician did a test by driving my vehicle after replacing the struts, but that was only done on the local streets & not on the hwy. When I tested the vehicle on the hwy driving on a straight lane, I found out that the vehicle drives in a straight line forward for about 2 secs before veering to the right after I remove my hands from the steering wheel; this was tested with the steering wheel originally held at the center position to go straightly forward and then I took my hands off the steering wheel to determine if the vehicle still goes in a straight direction. There was clearly a wheel alignment issue yet Mr. Kien insisted that a wheel alignment wasn't necessary in my case. In addition, I have wheel locks on my wheels & now that I need to replace my tires due to the uneven wear, I discovered that the wheel lock key was badly damaged by the Sunny technician that replaced my struts. The incompetent technician must have used an impact wrench or some other unapproved equipment to tighten or remove my wheel locks, which irreversibly damaged my key. Thank you Sunny Auto Repair for costing me $388 to replace my tires and wheel lock key, not to mentioned the time wasted in getting the repairs. I am never coming back. read more

Where do I begin...... I'm not a stickler in cleaniness as long as the quality of work is carried through. This comes through about 3 days worth of visits. I came Wednesday to see ask about getting my ac compressor changed. No one at the front desk and no one is around to ask any questions. So I say screw it and leave. Friday at 11:30am I come back same deal. I'm thinking at this time ghost must run this place so I come back at 2:45pm manager tells me the guy who does ac is not in to come back in the morning. He has two cars in the shop with two techs. Even after telling him I want ac compressor changed or replaced he only remembers a charge. Saturday rolls around they suppose to open at 8:30am, he doesn't come in until 8:30 to open the shop by 9am they are aiding people. The manager remembers me and send the tech to me asking about an ac charge. I explain I didn't want a charge I wanted an ac change. He talks with his manager for a few seconds and comes to tell me they are too busy today.... I'm like damnit it's 9am you close at 5:30pm. I was even trying to leave the car with you overnight and you want me to come back another day screw that. At least the ac guy is somewhat punctual. Rest of them can suck a lemon. This place ain't worth anyone tires to grace them. read more

Westminster is filled with auto shops in every nook and cranny that one can set up shop. Most time, parking or finding the right mechanic is a tough feat. I came here per a recommendation from my mom that Mr. Kien Nguyen does a spectacular job for a reasonable price. I found it to be very reasonable! I came here for an oil change ($25) and brakes replacement. It was a bit of a wait since it was busy, but a good customer tipped me off to move my car to the correct side to get my vehicle inspected. Note: Sunny's Auto Repair & Sunny's Tire Club do not cross business for repairs. Personally, I did not suspect any foul play here or discrimination. Most mechanics in Westminster deal with a large Vietnamese customer base, but here, Kien caters to all. There are no language barriers and no special treatment if you are Vietnamese. A few good things: Kien does not intimidate you, try to upsell on unnecessary procedures or parts and is a diamond in the rough with honest business. AND the lot is spacious with plenty of parking! If you need to find a trusty mechanic that will give you his honest opinion on what needs to be done now or later, come here! I know I will :D read more

Came in for a tire replacement and the fact that an auto shop can't even properly jack up a car is speechless. Granted, it was probably a new employee but what the actual f. Do NOT come here if you want to live. Let me preface by saying I've been to plenty of mechanics to know this is the worst of the worst. I initially brought my car in because it was making a noise. I asked them to check my brakes and they said it was fine. They couldn't figure out my issue as to why my car was making a noise but continued to upsell me on things I didn't need. I figured they were the mechanics and they knew best. They kept my car for a day and a half and when I came to pick it up I found out I ended up being UPCHARGED exponentially for things I DIDNT EVEN NEED! To top it off, my initial problem I brought my car in for was never resolved. Once I left the mechanic, the noise was even worse. I ended up taking my car back to the mechanic I previously went to to find out my brakes were 98% WORN!!! My roaters were so warped from being grinded on, they had to be replaced completely. This place needs to be shut down for their lack of safety. They could kill someone one day with their lack of effort.  Not to mention, there is now a light that came on on my dashboard that wasn't their before I brought it here to Sunnys. read more

I've been coming to Sunny's since I've had a car. He's pretty big in the Vietnamese community so my mom always tells me to go to him if I have any automotive problems. He actually has two stores right next to each other. The only thing separating them from being one whole entity is a glass modeling store between them. One of his stores focuses on auto repair and the other focuses on tires. It's right of Westminster and there's a huge sign that says Sunny's so you can't miss it. I always see the owner there and he's always the first to ask why I'm there and what I need. He's very hands on when it comes to work and will inspect the vehicle himself most of the time. I came in for an oil change today for my car. I went to a few places and they all tried to overcharge me so I came back to good ol' Sunny's. I got there and told them what they had told me and he gave me the skinny. He let me know that it'd be better and cheaper to go with a different option than what they had suggested and save me a good couple bucks. That's exactly why I know I can trust going here. All of the Chú here will tell you what other stuffs you need to check out to take good care of your car (you, ofc, have the choice of doing so or not, so don't complain about them trying to sell business; it is, after all, a business ) . 3,000 mi oil change for $30 comes with other inspection (which is a plus for me bc I get lazy af when it comes to checking tire pressure) . This is not the first time i go to a tire shop and Sunny is the worst of all. - Customer service = 0. At the time the guy knew i need a new tire. He just looked at my car, got a new tire, and gave me a paper to fill out and sign. He didn't even ask me what kind of tire i need or tell me the price. He just knot whenever i ask him. - Price is higher than anywhere else. Since i need a tire ASAP, i agreed to pay $100 for a new Falken tire which i got from Teo tire club for $95 for the same tire. - Warranty is 30.000 miles which is much lower compared to Teo tire club 70,000 miles. Overall, i greatly regreted coming to Sunny. I will not come back here again even though it's near my house. read more

So I got an oil change at this place for my car before a road trip to Vegas. Half my oil leaked out before we got there and I had to stop on the side of the road cause the oil light came on, the ac started smelling like burnt gas, and the people driving next to me were literally yelling to let me know my car was leaking. Just came back from Baegas and went to another mechanic. Turns out these guys didn't screw the cap on my oil filter properly lol. At least the shop owner was nice and quick. Seems like a nice guy. My husband and I went to this shop for oil change service, and the service was horrible. It is TOTALLY unprofessional and rude compare to what the old guy - Mr. Kien sounds on the radio. He shouted and even looked down on us when my husband asked him what was wrong with the A/C. The way he explained to my husband like my husband was begging for his service. We don't know why he kept saying "Do not ask me many questions" while my husband din't understand what he explained wrong with the car. My parents have been coming here as long as I can remember... This location is a 20 min drive so whenever I get my oil changed, its at a local spot by my house. I always get a long list of repair recommendations after an oil change so every couple of oil changes, I'll bring it to Sunny to check it out, and its issues are always not the case =) Over a year ago, I had an extensive list from the oil change guys and they were telling me how my transmission would die soon, my timing belt was going to break, issue with an axil, and the list goes on... I was freaking out and wondering if I should buy a new car or spend thousands on this car... My parents were like "uh... check with sunny 1st before you over react" so I did. This was the first time I went without my parents and I was hesitant since I though I wouldn't get a "good deal" since they didn't know me but knew my parents but they fixed my car for about $400. I told him about the list recommendations from the oil change guys (all the specifics since the work that was done was a fraction of the cost the oil guys gave me and I wanted to make sure everything was taken care of) and he set the issue straight as far as if it was a true concern or not and thank goodness most of them weren't =D Lastly he ask how long I planned on using the car and I said that I needed it for 2 years at least until I'm done with school... He's like "oh yeah, no problem, your car should last at least 2 years and most likely more with these repairs without any issues, I shouldn't see you back here for a while..." Absolutely horrible. Do not go here for your oil change. When I arrived, I asked an attendant about changing my oil and he pointed to a random room. I walk in and see a man who turns out to be the owner. He ignores me until I say, "Hi I'm here for an oil change." He barks, "why are you telling me this, just tell the guy outside to deal with it." He then asks me for my keys and I disappears so I wait inside the room. After thirty minutes, a new attendant walks in asking me to pay. I say I'll be paying with card so he points me to another room at the end of the property. I walk to this new room and the owner is now there. As I pull out my wallet to get my credit card, he barks, "can you hurry it up, I have a lunch to get to" as if waiting for an extra 30 seconds was too much for him. Take your money elsewhere. They charge 40 so it's not even cheaper than other places and you get treated like a nuisance. I'm not even sure if my oil was changed out since my car feels the same as before...What I am sure about is a place that treats their customers like trash do not deserve any business. read more

First time I went here was for an oil change and something with my wheels. Everyone was busy working so I had a hard time finding someone to help. No one was in their little office and I had to literally go to where the cars were to get someone's attention. Second time I came was to change all 4 of my tires and this time, I was actually greeted by 2 people. They took my car right away and I sat in the little office waiting for about half an hour. Overall, I'd come here again. On good days, you get super friendly service and they're pretty fast too. I'd recommend you bring someone who can speak a little Vietnamese if you don't speak it at all. It's rare to hear an owner of a auto repair shop on air. Mr. Kien Nguyen, the owner, has his own weekly radio talk show on a Vietnamese radio station. I often listen to him on my way home from work. He is extremely knowledgeable. Listeners can call in and ask any questions about cars. I learn a lot from his talk show. It's not easy to find a honest, reliable auto repair shop. Mechanics turn over is high. Repair at dealership is too expensive. Managers emphasize more on profit and productivity than quality. Of course, one should always do some research and compare price on expensive repair. This shop is managed by the owner. He is very hands on. I checked around and his price is very reasonable. Actually he owns two stores next to each other. One side sells tires and the other repairs cars. I will continue bring all of my cars to this shop. read more

The owner tried really hard to save me money (since I was a student) and the workers were genuine with their inspections. Overall, they saved me $540 including a 10% student discount (a dream discount for major auto repairs). I ran over a curb pretty badly a couple of weeks ago, which ruined my alignment and made me believe that I needed a new upper right tire. I came in for an inspection and they said that my wheel was fine but in the process of fixing my alignment, one worker noticed that I damaged additional parts underneath my car. The estimate was $850 to replace multiple parts including an alignment, which made me secretly cry on the inside. I told them that I didn't have enough money at the time and asked if it was still okay to drive. They said that it was fine but the sooner I fix it, the less problems I will have. I came back this morning to get my car fixed and the workers gave a final inspection to make sure if they were missing anything. The owner told me that he was hoping to replace only the most damaged part to save me money. However, if my car was too badly damaged then I would have to pay the whole $850. Luckily they only needed to replace one part so I only had to pay $300 + $50 for alignment (originally $60). With a total of $350, the owner gave me an additional 10% student discount, which came down to $320. I was so happy that I hugged the owner and the people who fixed my car. I've been coming to Kien for 16 years. I am a second generation customer. Kien took care of my dad's cars for many years previous to me coming to him. The customer service is a bit rough...what this means is that you have to bring up what you're worried about. I've never had to wait an unreasonable amount for any job to be done. If it's going to be a while, Kien will tell you, leave the keys, it'll be ready in such in such time. Don't expect to be immediately greeted. These guys are busy. It's not that they don't care for your business, it's that they put the responsibility on you. The best part about Kien: I can show up paranoid about something stupid and Kien will personally check out the car and either figure out the issue or tell you it's nothing to be worried about. He's practical too. There's a ton of stuff that you need to have done? You can't afford to do everything all at the same time? No problem. Let Kien know and he'll give you an estimate for what's most important and tell you what you should get done next and how much time can pass before you absolutely have to get it done. Example: the brake pads needed to be changed and I was broke: he told me I had 2 months before it would be a serious issue. I needed new tires...Kien sells tires but couldn't get the tires I needed immediately. He sent me to a tire shop across the way because he knew my safety came first. I had a good while where my car just had issue after after issue...no matter how often I came, he always took the time to make sure my questions were answered and that every concern I had was addressed. He's an honest mechanic and a hard worker. His employees are hard working too. For the most part, I'd say most of them have been there a minimum of 5 years. read more

I brought my car to this dealer based on the good experiences of my brother-in-law. The owner, Mr. Kien and his team are at least honest and have only charged me the parts they replaced or fixed. With all the crooked mechanic's lacking integrity...scared by a crooked shop owner that said "Do not drive your car, it is going to blow up my engine". Sunny is a breath of fresh air! Referred by my friend Marianne...I drove 45 minutes to Sunny's shop, 15 minutes later he gave me an estimate... Sunny saved me $1,100.00, giving me peace of mind to drive a mechanically sound vehicle! He is honest, not willing to do unnecessary work, fast, lightning fast... He offered to save me more money with after market engine mounts...we discussed if factory mounts would last longer...I payed double his initial quote, living out of the area. Sunny ordered my parts, contacted me after hours that it arrived.I dropped my car off heading to a family party down south... Kind enough to stay 1/2 hour later while I was stuck in traffic... Unfortunetly 714 was closed ( they were suspose to be open according to their hours) so I wound up at Sunny instead. The wait was about 2.5 hours for tires but the price was right and they were OPEN unlike 714 tires. Thanks for being open and for the tire deal. I came in for a simple oil change, I have a brand new car and needed an oil change. I have used Sunny's multiple times so being my dealership was closed on a Sunday I brought my car here. Sad to say the customer service was terrible. All the mechanics on the left shop saw me but refused to acknowledge my presence. I waved to saying 'Hi I need an oil change, where should I park?' He not only ignored me but waved me off and walked away when I repeated my question! I got out of my car and approached another mechanic who at least listened to me but told me to go to the adjacent shop on the right for oil change, I did just that and the service there was no any better. I was approached by a younger gentleman who told me to go back to the other side because they were closing for lunch(I came in at 1pm and the shop closes at 2:30) I took my car back to the other side and finally was told to leave my car there. No paperwork was filled out, no time frame was given, no price quote, nothing. I should have left but being that I needed my oil change I stayed. My family and I have used Sunny's for years for our auto repairs, oil changes and tire services. Most of the time the service has been pleasant, the owner is always respectful. It's a shame that when the owner is not who you deal with the mechanics and the younger man who takes care of the shop to the right doesn't feel like customer service is necessary. I won't be coming back, no customer wants to feel as if you are bothering or imposing upon the staff when the reason you are there is to pay for a service that the business is supposedly open to provide!
