Called them to check availability, very kind and friendly to speak to over the phone. Booking was very easy. As I said, we booked over the phone, they E-Mailed us an invoice, and we paid online. Simple. We booked a day trip, and the trip to Katmai is split in two flights - one to King Salmon and one to Katmai. Views from the flight are absolutely beautiful. Nothing quite prepares you for how amazing it is flying into Katmai. I was worried that we came too late in the season to see any bears, but we saw two in the ocean as we were landing. Incredible. Definitely expensive. But 100% worth it. Highly recommend, would do it again.

Davis was extremely prepared when we met him for our adventure. We had binoculars, ponchos, water, and snacks waiting for us when we got in the truck! As we headed out from Anchorage, he took us to several stunning photo spots and shared fascinating facts and history about all the areas we visited, as well as places we drove past. He was friendly and attentive but also gave us space to explore on our own. Even though it both snowed and then rained during our tour, Davis had many different destinations he was able to swap in place of some of our originally planned outdoor activities. The rain stopped just in time that he was still able to cook for us, and OH MY was it delicious!!

Alaska Coastal Wildlife and Brown Bears…read more I did this tour in August 2023. It is a photography-centric tour and it lived up to the hype. We had bears. Lots of bears. Bear cubs. Carl Donohue was our Expedition Leader and did a great job. It was great to have someone with tons of bear experience, as it was close sometimes! It was a boat-based tour so that we would have the freedom to move to where the bears are. Day one we had bears. Day two we had weather, lots of weather. We were in Alaska after all. From there on out we were in bear heaven. I shot literally thousands of images (shooting at 30 frames per second will do that) and I really struggled to delete down to the 400 or so that I'm at now. It's tough to delete amazing photos because you have some that are even more amazing and you just don't need them all. The boat (yacht?) at 98 feet was super comfortable for our small group of photographers. The crew was awesome and the food was very good, certainly more than you would expect for a boat-based trip. I can't imagine how good you have to be at planning to pull that off. Every day I took "shot of a lifetime" photos of bears.

The work and effort they have put into the camp facilities over the years since is wonderful!! The cabins, outdoor kitchen, shower house and hardscaping are absolutely fantastic. This lake has got to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. The service and support we received from all of the staff was outstanding! They went out of their way to accommodate all the needs of our rather large group of 8 which included 4 grandkids and a dog. We caught so many fish I had to start fishing left handed to rest my right arm. We will return again and again.

Lost fishing rods at start of our trip, never got to use them…read more Return trip aircraft turned up 1 1/4 hours late at the lodge. Missed our Alaska Airlines flight from Anchorage due to Sportsmans indifference. Weather was excellent and there were no mechanical issues. The lodge was only 30 minutes flight time from Anchorage. The missed flight meant an unplanned overnight stay in Seattle and a 6 AM departure the next day. The arrogant indifference to the consequences of their incompetence was staggering!

This was...an experience to say the least…read more 1) The Wilderness, Wildlife, and Glacier tour was insanely overpriced. Get a rental car and do it yourself, you'll save a ton of money. We did the add on glacier cruise, could have booked it cheaper on our own. Again. Just do these things on your own. Trip started in Anchorage, drove us to the wildlife conservation center. We had about an hour there, so basically only time to watch the bears. We never even looked at the other animals just due to lack of time. Then we drove to the Portage Glacier Lodge for lunch that you pay for yourself, on our way we stopped at two spots to take pics, again places you could just stop at. Food was insanely overpriced. Then to the cruise, the cruise itself is an hour long and seeing the glacier is cool, but the ship and crew were the most rinky dink operation I've ever seen. 2) our tour guide locked the keys to the van inside the van. She did not even call to get help until over an hour after discovering the keys were locked inside. We had to wait at the lodge for almost 2 hours before someone came to bring her the spare keys. During this time no one communicated with us regarding a plan and we were just sitting there waiting. Tour guide "Captain C" was nowhere to be found. She then drove us quite erratically back to Anchorage, I presume out of stress. The pics she took aren't great, not like the ones on other reviews and are mostly blurry. 3) Book with a better group. This was a waste of money.

Not only was she very knowledgeable, pleasant, a good driver, but she also treated us all amazing: she remembered all our names, took photos of each of us on our phones with the views in the background, did a little trivia game at the end of the tour, and took wilderness photos on her camera and shared them with us within 2 hours from the end of tour. And they were great! Secondly, the stops were really fun. We spotted a moose mom with her baby in the wild, saw a few bald eagles, some sheep too. We also had a tasty lunch at Portage Glacier Lodge on one of the stops. Thirdly, the rainy weather didn't affect our experience as all because of Grace's non ending good mood & cool headed nature. Even though the glacier cruise at the end got canceled due to awfully strong winds, we did other stops and had fun. Be flexible and have fun! Being a passenger on a cruise ship we had limited time, so we opted for the 30 minutes Local Seaplane Tour. The owner and pilot Chris, checked and fueled the plane since we were the first passengers that day. After a quick explanation of the safety systems ( life jackets and the like), setting up the headset with mic and after helping us with the seatbelts we were almost ready for takeoff. He contacted air traffic control, did a few rounds on the lake to warmup the engine and then we were airborne. This was the moment we came for... an exciting though smooth takeoff. During the tour Chris would tell us all about nature and wildlife and show us points of interest by tipping the wings down for a better view. We had a smooth landing on the lake and he made a quick "water splashing turn", which was really nice! We want to thank Chris for this wonderful experience, which we will never forget! The glacier tour was great and very informative, but the Ice Fishing was a bit more impressive in terms of the experience. Ryan was very friendly and knowledgeable, not to mention you can tell he genuinely loves what he does. We didn't have any luck for the first hour or so and he went off and managed to find a location where we couldn't seem to catch the fish fast enough. I lost count after 15 fish in the second location. I'd highly recommend going and would absolutely book with them if I find myself in Anchorage again during the summer season.
