Poor customer service and dishonest. Avoid this autobody shop at all costs. They repaired my sunroof through my insurance and said it was covered under warranty. "Bring it back for any problems" I was told. Of course, the sunroof stopped working and when I returned they held my car for a week and never repaired it. Mike apparently didn't know how to call my insurance company to get the warranty info and he blamed the problem on me! He said I was supposed to "clean the tracks" of the sunroof! What? When I called him out on it he became confrontational and abrasive. I couldn't believe this guy was allowed to speak to customers. I asked to speak to the owner and he refused. Red flag, no accountability whatsoever. I was told he didn't even live in NY! The office manager took over and was very polite but it was just a show to get my car out of there. Henry lied to me, telling me he would follow up with insurance and get back to me. That was three weeks ago. It's clear they don't respect their customers and don't stand by their work. IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD This shop has had our vehicle for a month and a half. For the past two weeks, they claimed "you'll get it back tomorrow." We were told today that someone backed up into the car and took out almost the entire the drivers side door/bumper while it was in the parking lot. This was one of the worst experiences i have ever had with a car repair shop. I left there with my mouth open in shock at the treatment that I received at sunken metal auto collision in Commack. I don't even understand how an insurance company would ever agree to work with such an unprofessional horribly rude company. They should be taken off the list for insurance companies to work with. My car had a small fender bender which, in fact my car was just a little scratch in the back from backing up into the parkinglot car. They had my car for over a week, 9 days. A gentleman spoke to my husband upon dropping the car off and they said it would take approximately 4 days. I was paying for a rental in the meantime. So after it was over a week, we decided to call. The manager came on the phone and called my husband a liar saying that info was not accurate. she was defensive from the start as he was very respectful and kind. We were in shock at the attitude that we received for no reason. And she was the manager which was ridiculous on how she was so rude. I spoke to an older lady on the phone as well, who also was incredibly rude, and between these two women, I have never received such customer service as poor as this. My husband and I were in such shock because we were just questioning when the car would be ready. To then, hearing the old lady yell at us on the phone for absolutely no reason. Then the following day, which was about nine days later not four we want to go pick up the car after calling a couple of times. Then the older lady who we had received the attitude from. Tells us that we cashed a check for $100. My husband and I did not remember receiving a check from the insurance company but instead of sending it to the auto repair, they sent it to us. So the old lady had spoken to my husband on the phone as I was already driving to the dealership, he told her to just let me know that she had spoken to him so I was aware to pay the extra hundred dollars. I get to the dealership and I say "hello I'm there to pick up my car." The older lady was a complete nightmare! She pointed her finger at me and then to a piece of paper yelling how I cash the check. Now mind you she did not tell me she spoke to my husband, so I don't know what she's talking about at this point. My husband told her to let me know that they spoke. And instead of her kindly explaining that she spoke to my husband before me getting there, she wanted to chastise me to yell at me, saying how I owe an extra hundred dollars and I cashed the check yelling at me pointing her finger in my face. The manager decided to walk on out just to stand there and not say anything at one point. So as I'm writing a check, I say calmly "you should be a little nicer to people." then she decides to yell at me, saying that "I have an attitude a mile long ....a mile long! And I need an adjustment!" At this point no one was going to speak to me like this. The way she handled the situation was so unprofessional and I don't care how old you are. No one should speak to their customers like that!! I am always so kind to people, and so respectful to people, especially people who are older than me, and I was treated like garbage as she then slammed the invoice down, and basically chucked it at me while yelling at me that I cash the check pointing in my face telling me I need an attitude adjustment. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. Worst experience ever she should be fired. read more

I don't have enough kind words to say about my experience. Absolutely flawless from the second I contacted Melissa that I needed my car fixed to the second I picked up the car. I was treated like family. Upon dropping off my car I was greeted with a rental. I was in and out in less than 5 mins. From there I was kept in the loop 100% of the process. Updates per day sometimes multiple per day. They turned a horrible experience by my wife getting rear ended in her Jeep to a good experience. I even got the car back earlier than expected. I am very anal when it comes to my cars and after inspecting the car when I picked it up, it looked better than new. My car was fully cleaned inside and out before I picked up the finished product. I had to get my car fixed through the other persons' insurance so I went with SM Auto.. they were incredible. I dropped my car off on saturday, within minutes the wonderful woman had my paperwork and all my notes ready, they checked my car for dents/scratches etc and I was out of there. On tuesday state farm had the estimate and on wednesday it was ready for pickup! They accomodated my work schedule and let a friend pick up my car and the work they did was awesome. They even gave me 2 fresh hub caps as mine had fallen off. Highly reccomend these guys especially if you're like me and brought in a car that was being covered under insurance but also wanted additional work done out of pocket... I just picked up my Mercedes Yesterday. The repair from the valet damage was fixed. What I didn't like was the scratches and overspray on the other side of my car. When I went back today to have them buff out the scratches they created by cleaning it up VERY POORLY and show them the brownish black dots on the car, I was told by the young man that was told to help me that it was from the street. They were not FROM THE STREET. They simply had my car long enough and I didn't feel like arguing with them. I went to an auto parts store and the gentleman there with collision experience confirmed what I thought. He recommended buying a clay kit to work off the pin sized dots. Once I started to do this on the few I thought were there, I realized there were dots on the driver side roof, my front and rear driver side doors, on the bumper, on the trim, CLEARLY not from the street. It was definitely Overspray. The fact that they had my car for 4 weeks when I was promised it in 2 and I had to spend more money and many hours of my time removing what they created is ridiculous. It was bad enough that my Thanksgiving plans had to be canceled because they kept changing the date my car was promised. ( door dings and a paint job is not anything that should have taken 4 weeks to fix. But to get my car back the way I did was unacceptable. They were the highest priced estimate out of 4 and since Geico recommended them I felt I would get careful attention to detail. That was not at all the case. This kind of shop is the reason our premiums are sky high. If you are going to get a half assed job done, go somewhere else where it is cheaper and you don't get a bullshit answer when you have a complaint. Getting that overspray off was time consuming but not difficult after watching a YouTube tutorial but I should not have had to spend my day doing that. AND there are now more paint chips that weren't there in the first place. Not at all a pleasant experience. read more

can't speak to the quality of their work since i never had a car worked on here, but i do know that i won't be taking a car here ever. i got in a minor accident the other day and wasn't gonna go thru insurance because the damages didn't seem bad at all. i got an appraisal of $1800. not realizing it was that much damage, i then decided to go thru insurance. insurance company requires their own specific appraisal from them, so i take it back. mind you, in the meantime, i discovered that one of my car door handles was broken, something that the first appraisal didn't even touch upon. i told them this on my 2nd visit. now, after going thru insurance, my appraisal from this very same company, taking into account an additional broken door handle, is $1000! i'm not blind to the fact that places are gonna try to make a couple extra bucks if they see an opportunity, but an extra $800 on a $1000 job seems pretty sleazy. with this in mind, the real cost of the damage I'm assuming is even less than what these clowns purport it is, probably in the $5-700 range. if i woulda known this, i coulda gone somewhere else and saved myself the insurance claim. read more

I had my car repaired here after an accident a few years ago to the tune of $10,800. When I went to pick it up after 2 months, they hadn't even buffed the paint so it was rough. Less than a year later, the hood began chipping. I brought it back and my insurance company paid them again to retouch the paint. In October 2009 I had about $2000 worth of body work done on my car by Sunken Meadow Auto Collision,. Then in January 2015 I had the work redone under warranty (except for the $240 additional dollars in what they claimed was "new damage." So a few years after that the clear-coat was peeling off the car and the paint faded drastically. I brought the car in and they agreed that it should be redone again. Since I had moved out of state, I asked them to make a reasonable cash settlement which they refused to do. My car took several weeks past the due date to be completed. They never called to update me with the status, or to let me know that it wouldn't be completed on time. Every time I called, the tone that I got made me feel like I was a massive inconvenience. If they were too busy to complete my time on time or even pick up the phone to take 60 seconds to update me, they shouldn't have taken my car. Simple business ethics. My insurance company referred this place to me, and after this experience, they will no longer be my insurance company. I was told for two weeks that my car was in paint. Two weeks? Sounds like they were scrambling for excuses. When I got my car back. I noticed that the registration and inspection stickers were missing, because they broke my windshield (that wasn't damaged previously), threw out my stickers and didn't bother to tell me. Now they're telling me it's my responsibility to replace them?! They also told me that they detailed my car as a courtesy but when I got it back, the car was filthy. For a $10k+ job I would assume they'd have a bit more respect for my car and their work. Avoid this place at all costs. There are so many better options in the area and I'm so upset that my insurance company pressured me in to coming here. read more

Last week I was in a minor fender bender as the person behind me hit me. I went onto facebook groups in search of a collision place and many of people recommended Sunken Meadow so I went with it. I made my appointment for Friday 8/21 and took my car in. The woman at the front desk was so helpful and sweet ( I forgot her name) but she walked through everything with me and I didn't have to do a thing. Melissa came out and inspected the car and was also very sweet. I ended up getting a rental since it was going to be a few days. Friday night I got a call it will be ready by Tuesday in which it was. I picked it up earlier and wow!!! Such a fantastic job. I feel like I just drove it home from the dealership. Sunken Meadow Auto Collision took care of every little scratch and dent and even went to the extreme of cleaning it on both the outside and inside. I knew I was in good hands from the second I dropped it off ( plus my mom said she knows the owner from when she worked at quick stop). The price was absolutely ridiculous and they pushed the estimated completion date of the job 3 times. Each time I'm glad I called ahead before making the trip to the shop or I would have wasted the time off work. This shop is a typical overpriced money making machine and their work is not great. Horrible, horrible, horrible! I recently had my car brought to sunken meadow after an accident because they were recommended by my insurance company. They apparently work closely with most insurance company's. They lied to me and didn't return phone calls. I had to call to get any information. I was told many times that I would get a call back, but never did. Unless I called I couldn't get information. I was told my car would be looked at and then at the end of the day I was told( when I called) that they were too busy. When they finally checked my car, I asked for an approximate estimate. First they didn't have it yet. When I called back again, I was told I can't really get an estimate because when they figure out the repair price it's a complicated procedure. They said that as they put each part into the system , it keeps a total amount but then once you reach the value of the car, it stops adding in additional parts. That made no sense because how else can they come up with the estimate for insurance. I then called the insurance adjuster and he said he already had the estimate and emailed it to me. I'm not sure why sunken meadow lied to me. When the process was over, I had to empty my car and get the plates since the damage was too much and the car couldn't get fixed. When I arrived I asked if they took off the plates. I was told they are in the car..they were not. I asked again if someone can take them off for me. I waited but nobody came out. Luckily my son had a screw driver and did it himself. Do not use this place even if your insurance recommends it. You have the right to go anywhere. I've worked with other company's that actually care about their customers, unlike sunken meadow. read more
