So with my 20/20 vision I tagged along to Eyedol, the third shop on his list for eye wear. We were greeted the minute we walked in. BH gave a description of the glasses he was looking for and were shown several pairs fitting that description. While BH tried on glasses and primped in front of the mirror, the lovely sales rep noticed my sunglasses dangling from my neck and asked if I would like them cleaned. The sales rep spent plenty of time with BH, checking his prior lenses and measuring the prescription, setting up some sample lenses to test the prescription, and describing several new lens and prescription options. Better half got exactly the glasses he was looking for $60 cheaper than at the previous location. Great service, good selection of glasses, and great attention to detail. Makes me wish I needed glasses.

I've been wearing glasses since I was 13, and Niche Eyewear Boutique is hands-down the best…read moreexperience I've ever had. Valerie and the team offer something truly rare: genuine expertise and bespoke service in a world full of fashion-label eyewear. They carry beautiful, understated luxury brands that most people have never heard of - frames made by real eyewear specialists. Just like serious watch enthusiasts avoid fashion-brand watches because we know they are not real watchmakers, it's refreshing to finally find a store that doesn't push trendy fashion labels. Instead, they focus on independent makers who truly understand craftsmanship, materials, and fit. The service is exceptional. Rather than suggesting what's expected for the office, beach, or evenings out, they helped me discover frames that actually suit my face and personality. I ended up choosing a beautifully made frame with no visible logo from a brand I'd never heard of. It fits perfectly, feels lightweight yet durable and well-crafted, and looks incredibly refined. Only later did I learn how well-regarded the brand actually is. The lenses are Nikon, and for the first time ever, I received the official Nikon lens card complete with all the details and ID number. This allows for easy service or replacement anywhere in the world - a professional touch that shows real quality. Niche Eyewear Boutique is a true hidden gem. If you shop at Harry Rosen and appreciate real craftsmanship and quiet luxury, this is your eyewear store. Highly, highly recommended.

The owner Valerie Afriar refused to cancel the order said that once the order is made it is too late. I was shocked, and argued that this was unfair and very poor customer service. After much arguing she agreed to refund the frame but not the lenses ... so gave me a credit for around $700. The other frame and lenses I purchased was ready in a few weeks but were poorly made - the distance was good but the reading part was poor, blurry, experiencing eyestrain. I have been wearing progressive glasses for 14 years so I know. good from bad. So I returned the glasses to be fixed and got it back in 2 weeks but sadly I had again the same blurriness issues so brought them back and waited 2 months - it turns out nothing had change, same blurriness, same very narrow window to read but again blurry vision while reading. Sadly I dont think I am going to get anywhere with Niche. I used my credit to buy frame - there was $67 left over on the credit but Valerie refuse to refund. Poor business all around with only one good thing and that is Juno the sale young woman who works at the West-Vancouver store.

The prices are totally fair, and the level of service is on another level. This isn't your cookie-cutter chain shop. It's personal, precise, and done with real care. I traveled all the way from Seattle just to get my glasses here, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Paul, the owner, is laser-focused on the tiniest details--literally down to the millimeter. He takes his work incredibly seriously and won't settle for anything less than perfection. No rushing, no upselling--just honest, thoughtful service and one-on-one attention. The kind of care you just don't get at the big chains. Also, major shoutout to Francesca, who works at the front. She's chill, mild-mannered, and absolutely genuine. Always smiling, always kind--and you can tell she truly loves what she does. In a world full of fake smiles and customer service scripts, Francesca is the real deal. A total gem. Turnaround time was faster than expected (especially for outsourced lenses), and communication was smooth the whole way through. The prescription sunglasses they made for me have seriously transformed my life--driving in bright summer light went from unbearable to totally manageable. I'm beyond grateful. If you're anywhere near Vancouver, do yourself a favor and come here. Prestige Optical is everything an optical boutique should be: honest, detail-obsessed, warm, and deeply human. I'll absolutely be back.
