Following an evening of (number redacted) mai tais, my partner had a late night meeting with the hotel room door, which he had mistaken for the passageway to the bathroom. Not only were his glasses damaged, but he was seriously banged up! We saw that Eyewear Kona offered both repairs and same-day glasses with their in-house lab, so off we went to see Darcy. I was joking that she's never going to buy the old "I walked into a door" bit and would call the cops on me. She could not have been more helpful or kind, first checking the body damage in case he needed medical attention (he didn't); then getting the bent glasses as close as possible back to the original shape; and finally helping my partner find a new pair from their unique and stylish selection of frames. At the end of the same day, we were back for our new pair of glasses. A couple days later we returned for some adjustments, no problemo, and were even told that if there were further issues when we returned to the mainland, we could ship the frames back and they'd take care of them. I love the frames he selected and although I wouldn't wish the incident on him again, I'm glad it brought us to Eyewear Kona. It's like the new pair was meant to be. Saw a Beaches Hawaii coupon in Spotlight's "Big Island Gold" magazine and went on a search for this bikini shop. Hidden in the Ali'i Sunset Plaza, a small shop was found. Inside, there were bikinis and swimwear for women and swimsuits for kids and a section for guys. Everything was cute and so affordable. My problem was always finding a top that fit D's. The owner was there and patiently waited as I tried on at least 6 tops, asked a few questions and eventually helped me find a great fit and pattern. She really knew a lot about the suits, styles and brands. I am happy with my purchase. This place is my new go-to! Quick summary: affordable, knowledgable, friendly and helpful.

The first store I tried just left me feeling sad and depressed as the sizing was nowhere near what I am used to. So when I found this shop I entered in absolutel terror not knowing what I would find. The owner soothed my worries about the sizing and let me know that the sizing would be drastically different between brands and she turned out to be extremely knowledgable as to how each brand worked with sizing. She had some unique and super cute cover-ups and swimsuits. It definitely was not your average shop. Great inventory, good prices, and phenomenal service. We decided to go to Kings' Shops to walk around. This shopping center is located down the street from Queens' Market. There is a large parking lot. Finding a spot is easy. Free parking. There are more restaurants, dessert spots, and cafes. It also had clothing shops, boutiques, jewelry, etc. More upscale spots. Kings' Shops is an outdoor shopping center like Queens' Market. Unfortunately, a year later we both need repair/replacement glasses before our allotted benefits and the process didn't go as smooth The communication and policies were poor. Walmart just took over the vision department and I guess they changed a lot of policies from the previous business. Their response was we don't do that anymore to 3 requests I.e. I asked if I could pay over the phone since I lived 45 minutes away and they said no. Then I proceeded to change my granddaughters prescription as it was necessary per her doctor. They ordered it and we picked it up with no issues. When I needed to fix my damaged glasses is when they said I needed to pay for it before they could put in my order. I said ok since it was urgent that I get it repaired and they said they would let me know my portion after they submit my claim insurance. when my lenses finally came in they said they could'nt file my claim. I said u did for my granddaughters glasses and she said we ate the cost for her claim $30. This was the first I was hearing about it. After going back and fourth with them and my insurance numerous times Walmart said they couldn't help me so I had to pay the $298. If I knew this in advance I wouldn't have proceeded. THANK GOODNESS for Crystal and Cheryse from the Honolulu store who so happen to be helping the Kona location with staffing. I was getting calls from the billing department for the $30 and the guy from there was so apologetic and was trying to help me resolve my frustration and said to have my insurance call them to see what could be done. My insurance ended up calling Walmart and that's when Crystal helped with awesome customer service and heard my concerns and did something to try and resolve my inconvenience. I've been in the customer service industry for over 35 years as management and I want to commend Crystal and Cheryse for going over and beyond to help me with everything. Instead of saying they "can't" Good employees are hard to find nowadays so be lucky you have them.

Employee said she didnt validate parking. I inquired as to how I was able to purchase Crocs if I coulnt park. She said I could validate at ABC. I asked if I had to buy something over there and she said she didnt know. Again I said I didnt understand how I could buy crocs if I couldn't park. She stood up and started coming at me and asked why I was "escalating things"....I wasn't I was simply trying to figure out how I could buy crocs without getting my vehicle ticketed. We stopped in the main store (tucked back off Ali'i Drive behind Haven Coffee) and the pop-up. Purchased New Balance and Hoka running sneakers, hats, and a few pairs of Goodr sunglasses (if you haven't tried these sunnies, they are cute, comfortable, durable, and so reasonably priced at $25-$35/pair...and they are polarized!). On previous visits I've purchased running clothes (love their RUN BIG shirts/hats), a running belt, and chews for my long runs. Clothes, shoes, accessories, nutrition...they've got you covered! Friendly and knowledgeable service, well-stocked store, convenient location in downtown. Run, don't walk, to Big Island Running Co for all your running needs!
