Gas - standard experience, price is not that much cheaper than other stations BUT you'll get the points at least. Store - standard experience, samples on a Friday were fun, bathrooms were obviously USED OFTEN but not gross. Food court - a complete shhtshow. It's a bit confusing for those not paying attention. It's outside near the entrance and the lines start to snake or pours into the parking lot. Place order on the kiosks and then jump into line - they fulfill upon arrival, NOT based on order timed numbering systems like other Costco's. Management should consider a new process to expedite the flow. read more

Costco is always a must anywhere we travel. This location is also near the airport and near the hotel we were staying at. We were staying for 6 days in a condo type hotel and decided to cook most of our meals so we got the necessary items and some items we couldn't find back home. We also came here often to fuel for gas for all of our excursions which just so happened to be on the other side of the island. This location is spacious and we always got in and out quick. read more

Large selection of Hawaiian foods!! Always a good spot to grab some member-priced gas, and the food court is always thriving and fast!!! Came here a couple times and although it's almost always very busy, it's not too chaotic and pretty orderly. This was our first stop after arriving at the airport and we were very glad we did. We grabbed some essentials such a pack of water bottles, some fresh Rotiserrie chicken, and also other ingredients for when we wanted to cook a nice meal!!! We chilled at the outdoor food court area. Pretty much like any other Costco. read more

I love Costco in Hawaii. Any island. Never a disappointment. We came here to browse and pick up quick food before our flight. They have great local items. I've purchased their Costco cooler bag before from here on a previous trip. Ordering food took a long time. They take the time to get you your order. I mean it's island time. Just make sure to order at kiosk first. The guy before us did not and he waited so long. If you want to purchase at window, make sure you are in correct line. This Costco has never been busy when we have visited. It's busy enough but not crowded at all. read more

We went to get a few things from Costco. That we could finish in eight days. We normally buy to much, but really stuck to our list. I got some Spicy Tuna and it was great! I felt it was very fresh and loved it! Some of the best Poke, I have had. It was a lot of food and a great value. My daughter bought a bunch of treats ( Honolulu cookie company) to bring to her co-workers. Great value. They have a lot more "sun items" than most Costco's on the mainland. So if you forgot anything they got it. read more

The unfortunate thing is the food court area. The horrible line with the new service style. Then go to the window and the unpleasant service given is awful. This cock is amazing. It has sushi.! food court is the same as every other Costco except it's outside which is really nice. The inside is very well organized and well kept. It is crazy how busy this week staff was super friendly and nice. was happy to come check it out selection was definitely similar, but had some uniqueness to it. Of course, this place has value it is surprising coming from Alaska how some of the prices are pretty in line with what we pay something more something less depending on where it's coming from in the world, which was kind of fun to experience and check out read more

After touching down at Kona International Airport, my wife and I had two hours to spare before we could check into our Airbnb. Although we do not mind dining in for meals and drinks, we generally prefer to cook and make our own drinks in our temporary living space; therefore, we were thankful to know that there was a nearby Costco. This Costco is very similar to the one that is near our home, the only difference was the availability of Hawaiian beer and rum. We had a taste for margaritas, so the plethora of options made for an easy decision. However, we were disappointed to learn that they did not have margarita mix (at the time). We also picked up eggs (very reasonably priced in comparison to California), veggies, breakfast sausage, pizza, chicken wings, pulled pork, burnt eggs, seafood, and bottled water. Considering how busy this location is (to be fair I've never seen a quiet Costco), staff are friendly and consistently efficient. Ten minutes away from the airport, this is a perfect stop for getting a pre-flight snack at the cafe or stocking your Airbnb! read more

Hawaii Costcos are the best! This location has everything you need for a week at the beach, from the bathing suit you forgot at home, sunscreen, boogie boards, and tasty treats and snacks for your stay, plus macadamia nuts to take home. The only demerit is because they didn't have already made sushi (the ahi, salmon, and marlin over rice) when we went, and when we asked if they were planning to make some soon, they just walked away from us. It's unusual not to have good customer service at Costco so this stood out as a somewhat negative experience. And it was a real bummer because my daughter really wanted it for lunch. Service is great, lines are efficient, prices are very reasonable. It's great all around! read more

Are you a Costco fan? If you are from the mainland or elsewhere, come to this Costco for your Hawaiian local treats. We also came here to buy gifts for our friends and family. Great experience at Kailua Kona location Big Island. Came in for one simple thing -- potty pads -- and almost left empty-handed when I saw the shelf was completely bare. I could see the stock sitting up top, just out of reach, so I figured I'd ask an employee if there was any way to get some brought down. Not only did Kema help without hesitation, he actually closed off the aisle to properly restock the entire floor section. No attitude, no "that's not my job" -- just genuine, willingness to help a customer out. In a world where good customer service is getting harder to find, Kema reminded me why I keep renewing that Costco membership year after year. That kind of effort doesn't go unnoticed. Give this man a raise! read more

I am super livid. I have shopped here off and on since 2007. I eat a LOT of poke. I am a poke snob. I am so much of a poke snob, I don't buy Costco poke because it is never "fresh" caught. The fish is usually 2 or 3 days old, and they are trying to save their margin. So because of Costco subbing out responsibility to a 3rd party poke "making" company I don't trust the poke from here. I have been a Costco member for longer than my membership says, but it says "2003". 23 years, according to my current card. I bought a chunk of tuna today from Costco in Kona. I wasn't expecting fresh tuna before 11 AM because the fisherman can't get in that quickly. I have been STANDING IN the Kona Costco when the fresh tuna arrived. I was happy to sit around and WAIT for the meat department to get the tuna out.  When we go to Costco my husband goes straight to the fresh tuna sections when we go to Costco, excited to get me "fresh tuna" knowing I make amazing poke and sashimi on my own without help.   Today, 1/21/26 I bought "Fresh Wild Ahi Tuna" dated for a pack date of 1/21/26. For us LONG time Costco shoppers that is the day it arrived at Costco because we would never imagine our most trusted store to defraud us. As soon as I opened my package of tuna, I could smell the "older fish" smell. Even my husband asked a few times as I was cutting it, "is something wrong?" Because I kept sniffing it. I told him it doesn't smell " fresh".  It also had WAY more silver-skin than any tuna I have bought from Costco.  I buy "fresh ahi" from my local KTA all the time and the date is accurate.  The silver-skin is minimal.  I have NEVER taken it home and all of a sudden, after opening the package, been alarmed by the "fishy" smell. I tried to contact Costco via a formal complaint line/communication and I see nothing.  I am NOT driving 5 hours to return the piece of garbage fish they sold me.  I don't see anthing on line other than a "phone call".  My phone support with Costco has been less than stellar in the past so I am not wishing to do that. Who sells old tuna???  The nice thing with KTA is the "packed" date is always the day it was caught.  My husband has always gone in Costco wanting to find me fresh tuna.  Now he will forever doubt anything he finds in the Kona Costco.  He was working hard to surprise me, as he has MANY times from the Kona Costco.  But not today.  The fish was CRAP. So I am going hungry tonight because he made a dinner for himself that I won't eat.  Fresh tuna from Costco usually means I eat what I love, he eats what he loves.  It's the rare meal we don't like each other's food.  Every couple should have that privilege a few times a year. Am I supposed to save this tuna package for a month or two from now when I go back to Costco????  Sounds pretty ridiculous. read more

We like to visit a local Costco when we travel because sometimes they carry items specific to serve the locals. When we visit any of the Hawaiian islands we also like to go to the local Costco and Walmart to pick up souvenirs to bring home with much better prices than the tourist area. Plenty of parking and we were able to buy local goodies to bring back home such as nuts, candies, and cookies. read more

Went with my son on 5/9/26, the day before Mother's Day, and the place was incredibly busy. I ordered a whole pizza and had my son, who has ADHD/autism, wait in the long pickup line. After about 20 minutes, an employee took his receipt and told him to wait in another line. When he finally got to the front of that line, they asked him for the receipt again. At that point, he was understandably frustrated, and they told him he'd have to go back inside and get another receipt -- with lines stretching toward the back of the store. Thankfully, a young woman who appeared to be a supervisor noticed what was happening while helping at the registers. She immediately stepped in, calmly asked what the issue was, walked us through the store to print another receipt, then went back outside with us. She explained to the employee that a receipt should never be taken without the customer receiving their pizza, and then personally handed my son his pizza box. She was patient, professional, kind, and completely turned the experience around for us during a very stressful and crowded day. I truly wish I had gotten her name so I could recognize her properly. Outstanding customer service and someone who clearly cares about customers. read more

I never thought I would find myself reviewing a Costco... but this was our first stop once we landed in Hawaii from the mainland... seeing as it was right next to the airport and this is probably the BEST American Costco I've ever been to. Why, do you ask? Two syllables. 1 word. POKE. They've got an array of various poke entrees to choose from. We decided to try them all - wasabi, fresh shoyu, spicy mayo pokes plus the garlic shrimp, which to this day I still have been unable to find at any location in the Southeast. They also had a container of local seaweed salad that hit the spot. All we were missing was a bowl of sushi rice or greens. The $$ value for the poke was probably the best we found compared to smaller local restaurants or groceries stores. But DO SUPPORT LOCAL, we were just intrigued! And also ended up buying plenty of more poke from local shops throughout our trip. And because we're crazy, we also ordered an entire pepperoni pizza because if you know you know that Costco pizza is EVERYTHING. Mind you, there were 5 of us... but it also lasted us for days after, perfect for post-beach munchies. The pick up counter for the pizza is actually outside the Costco store so you can grab in go without even entering the building. Thank you Costco for saving our trip with good value and high quality products! read more

Most often I love Costco, selection, cleanliness, mostly friendly staff etc. (I spend an average of $500 per month min... ) my last trip I was double charged for a sack of potatoes. The employees that work at this location are the rudest out of any costco we have been to. They take racial profiling seriously here, so if you are local-- or LOOK local, watch out. They will stop you at the door and go through every! single! item! in your cart. Nasty behavior. But if you look like a standard, run of the mill tourist, you're fine. They barely look at your purchases. (Must be nice to be treated like a human.) Last time we were there, husband asked the transplanted woman why she was digging everything out of the cart. She said, "oh you can never trust people from Hilo." (We are NOT from Hilo) he told her, "no one ever stops us in California) and she had the audacity to tell him, "yes thats right because California allows people to just go on and steal." Like, seriously WTF?!!! Why racists move to Hawaii of all places, I will NEVER understand but that's just one example of many here at this store. I made several complaints with the management here as well as with their corporate heads but they don't seem to care. Doesn't matter that we spend tens of thousands of dollars every year here or that we pay an average of over $800 every 2 weeks on items from Costco. (Yes you read that right.) No other costco location has employees that are as racist as the ones that work at this location. We have shopped in stores all over-- CA, WA, NV, UT, AZ, even costcos (all locations) on Maui & Oahu don't hire people who are this bad at treating ALL their customers FAIRLY. Discrimination is the game here. We would stop shopping here altogether but it Sucks because its the only wholesale store on the entire island so we are basically forced to buy from them. POC: As long as you aren't interacting with the employees here its okay. But just beware of their judgemental attitudes and disrespectful behaviors especially as you are leaving the store! read more

As we were staying at a Condo for over 2 weeks, it made sense to buy food and cook. The store isn't close to where we were staying, so we got a ride the first time, and had our rental car the second trip. Hibiscus watermelon was my favourite. Strawberry was also very good and Lime wasn't bad ! These were perfect for the pool and 2 of them Had us buzzing along nicely. Then even better was the Kirkland Irish Cream liquor ( Better then Bailey's! ) 1.75 litres for only 17.99 !! We bought 1 each to take home, and drank 3 of them while in Kona! On the rocks, with coffee ( hot or cold ! ) it was amazing ! We also got some really good frozen garlic shrimp & chicken wings which BBQ'd up so nicely. We also got some pepperoni pizza, but it was too greasy. Can't remember what else we bought - must of been from all the Irish Cream! read more

The one and only Costco on the Big Island, so you know it's going to be bizay! Costco was our first stop on our trip. The parking lot is huge and the lines for their gasolina is long, understandably, since Costco gas is one of the cheapest on the Island. The layout to the store is similar to the mainland Costcos. My friends and I came here to get breakfast items such as fruits, noodles, yogurt, water and of course the guava cheesecake! The produce is a bit more expensive here. Avocados were $9 for a bag of 5. There were few types of tomatoes to choose from. They didn't have my cherry or grape tomatoes. They carry a lot of items similar to the ones on the mainland and they had some local items such as Portuguese sausage, kalua shredded pork, poi, and Kona coffee. They had sarongs in multiple colors for under $9 and they had Hawaiian shirts and dresses as well. You can get your boogie board here, sunhat, cooler and microfiber towel for the beach. The last 2 aisles in the middle across from the check out are designated for hawaiian treats and snacks. There you'll find furikake shrimp chips, abundant amounts of macadamia nuts and chocolates for a reasonable price. The wait to pay is not crazy long, the lines move at a reasonable speed. They have self check to the left side of the store if you want to DIY and not interact with the cashier like me, lol. I had their guava cheesecake almost every night. It was light and fluffy and soo delicious. The guava glaze was sweet and the cheesecake part had a mild guava taste to it as well. I wish there was more crust, because it really completed the cheesecake. They didn't have the mango cheesecake when I was there. The food court is located outside and they sell the exact same items you'd find on the mainland. I think the only unique item was the mango smoothie. Overall, great Costco to grab items for your trip and to explore around in. Go early to avoid crowds and chaos! read more

We came to this Costco location with a mission to find specialty items only available in Hawaii, WE FOUND THEM!!! Taro chips, Furikake Mix, and shortbread cookies all a very nice selection to choose from. Nothing really else to write about Costco that's new, excellent quality and excellent selection and excellent prices. Kirkland signature products (awesome!) The funniest thing that my wife and I have noticed while shopping at Costco that it doesn't matter where you travel to or what Costco you visit but there will always be those idiot customers that think they're more superior than everyone else and don't have to wait in line. When a line forms at the entrance door before the store opens, all considerate people will ALL line up behind one another and enter in single file. THEN YOU HAVE those SUPERIOR individuals and couples that have no consideration and respect for others will just hover like crows around the front entrance and cut the line and enter as soon as the door opens. They disrespect everyone in line and seemingly don't give a crap. This should be resolved! read more

On the whole the people are friendly and helpful. What's this stuff about not being allowed to use the men's room if you have anything in your cart? Don't you have sales slip nazis at the door? How would I leave the premises with unpaid items? Also, HEARING AID CENTER: while you've been very sweet in the past, TODAY I was officiously informed that I need an appointment to get a new sleeve on the hearing aid I bought from them. Then I was told if I give my name and membership number they can make an appointment for me. Mind you, there are several people behind the counter with nothing better to do Then I'm told I can make an appointment for 5 minutes from now. In that case just make an appointment for now and replace the sleeve. I started to leave and I got more attitude from the lady. Part of the reason why this Costco is so awesome is because it's never that crowded. On a Saturday afternoon or morning or a Thursday afternoon, the parking lot and food court are never that crazy.
