We each did a flight of five from what was available. I had the "My Morning Coffee, a "semi-sweet" from the selections of meads. It really did not have any sweetness at all and was quite dry. I tried the Choke Cherry Wine, Feel Better Berry, Baco Noir and Cabernet. Choke Cherry was tart without sweet. Feel Better Berry was cloying. Baco Noir was dry as was the Cabernet, which had a slightly astringent undertone. The ambiance is much more casual than a typical winery tasting room. Flights are served in plastic cups written on in sharpie. We were regaled with stories of the tasting room cat bringing its various conquests back into the building for the owner to find. One person rides sitting, and one stands with the guide and helps steer (by leaning). We got to meet the dogs and love on them a bit which was great. It was a beautiful, sunny day. Even though it was 18° we were comfortable with ski gear (layers, sunglasses, hats). My toes got a bit cold but would have been better with the right ski socks! The dogs are so loved and well cared for which made the experience even more enjoyable! We were surrounded by snow and mountainous beauty. The mushers were fun and entertaining and the sled ride was everything I hoped it would be and more (exciting, but not scary)! Thank you Durango Dog Ranch for a memorable holiday adventure! PS.
