Coming from California, I wasn't sure what to expect for sushi. We had amazing sushi in the SF Bay Area. We wondered what we would find there. I have to say, I was pretty happy with our find. Sunflower Cafe is a place we will go to again. The staff was very nice, as were the customers. A nice, almost family feel. You don't get that if the owner and staff are not genuinely nice people. So, service, 5 stars. The presentation on a togo order, see picture, but was great. Again 5 stars. Sushi was good to very good. Rainbow roll was the best we got. I like real crab, not krab, so I can't give it 5 stars, but the sushi was a solid 4 stars. For value, I would give 4.5 stars. The only thing we didn't like was the edamame. It was very bland. We are used to having at least some salt thrown on them, which would have improved what we had quite a bit. A lot of places will throw a soy sauce with garlic on top. If that had happened, this very well could have been a 5 star review. Overall, a great place to go, close enough to our house to do often. People talk about $5 sushi at Publix. First time trying this place lastnight. I've heard sooo many good things about this place so it's been on my radar for awhile. We ordered 6 rolls last night and let me tell you, they were all AMAZING. The sushi was fresh, rice was fresh as well for us having ordered this a half hour before close. They have poke bowls, rolls, hibachi, all the Asian food fare that you usually see at these types of spots but the sushi definitely stands out the most. Not Sure why this place has 5 Stars??? The rolls we had were not fresh, they were kinda fishy. This really surprised me because I expected a five star sushi place. This place is supposedly the best and is consistently filled with guests. Everything we had was A-OK, but the main sushi item we wanted to try, the Crunchy Salmon Roll, was on its way out. Salmon wasn't fresh, and it had imitation crab. Eww. I don't know if it was because it was a takeout order or what. Since I'm the sushi lover I ordered this kind of as my main meal & to munch on it in between a plethora of treats such as the Egg Rolls (ALL cabbage). The egg rolls had a vinegary sauce for them, which was watery and just a bad choice. We also had a couple of the Miso Soups (which had no thought put into them), and the soup had an off-putting acidic taste, too much of something was disturbingly cloying. Finally we had a couple of Dinners of Chicken Katsu (this was the highlight of the meal), and sadly, our Regular Fried Rice wasn't anything special & lacked seasoning. Would I go back? Maybe. Only if I ate there because of the takeout sushi. When I want sushi, I want to be able to get takeout and have it be really fresh. I had to use a lot of my Thai Chili Sauce at home. This is in the restaurant previously known as Pacific Grill. Much of the furniture is the same, however they have freshened it up and with a nice decor. The family that runs it is very personable, and nice. You can tell they want to succeed and have the right tools to do so (personality, clean restaurant and good food). We have only eaten at sushi bar, but everything we have ordered has been wonderful. I highly recommend this place, it's great to support a locally owned business, versus the chains that surround it. read more

Haven't eaten here in a little bit. And the previous experience was only twice; 1 take out and 1 dine in. I was having a very candid conversation with my dining partner while waiting and eating the food. Did not realize that the family unit next to us was eaves dropping on our convo. They got up and seemed insulted by the fact that we were grown adults having convos that we wanted to have. They made a childish and petty comment before leaving. The staff did nothing to address the issue. Realize this would not be a spot for dine in anymore even tho the food was ok. Went back a next time since I was at fresh market next door, and they were out of sushi in the grocery store. So I ordered here. It was ok. Nothing magical. Eh...it was just ok. I decided to try out a new place. As I walked in, I had to wait quite a while just to be seated. Seemed like they were slightly understaffed maybe. My server was attentive and pretty quick. Onto the food...and straight to the point. Edemame was not salted enough and I NEVER say that about my food. The roll that I ordered was one of their specials called The Milky Way Roll. I like mine on the spicy side, so I added jalapeños on the top. It was very bland and way too much rice on the roll. The only thing I really enjoyed was the sashimi Yellow Tail and Mackerel. The fish looked and tasted fresh. The Fried Calamari was cooked very well and had a good taste with a small side of dipping sauce. This was actually pretty good. I would order that again for sure. I also had an order of their Udon soup. The broth was ok, but I've had better. Overall, it was an ok experience, but I highly doubt I will drive down this way to dine here again.
