I went the restaurant in the evening and was able to order breakfast. Overall it was a solid 4 based off of great customer service and a good pm breakfast . This place was standard modern American. They did have a bar, which is always nice. The staff was comley and attentive. Like I said being able to order breakfast made my trip to this point. The coffee was only average, but the service was good. They had a biscuit and gravy omelette which sounded delicious. The gravy was light and creamy. It was a bit light on flavor but it was 6 pm so this was whipped up fast and not letting to sausage soak in. Overall it was pretty tasty. I also had a side of bacon which I would skip in the future. read more

We had a great waitress. The restaurant is very generous with food. Complimentary basket of bread and butter. Soup or salad comes with a lot of meals. I really enjoyed my spinach pie platter with cottage cheese, fruit, and some veggies $10. The fried fish plate is a great deal with 4-5 fried pieces of fish and soup and potato $9. Many lunch specials. Spacious dining area and ample parking. read more

Sunfield Restaurant - Fish, fries, and free bread - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Ottawa, Illinois

Just ate lunch here. I had the all you can eat Greek salad, mushroom soup and bread. Bread was fresh and homemade and tasty, salad was good but a little plain and the soup was thick and hearty. Service was very good - food came almost instantly and all for $6. Whoever said this place was overpriced is on crack. I went back for dinner and had a full plate of lasagna with salad and garlic bread and a bread basket and two glasses of half decent cab for $16. $16 people. Cheap. And it was good. And the service was extraordinary. read more

Everything was sooooo wonderful! The service, the meals, even the freshly squeezed orange juice was amazing. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. Our waitress checked on us so often and she made it feel like we were her only table. If I didn't live 2 hours away I'd be there every weekend. The French toast flight was definitely a crowd favorite with my family! If you swing through Ottawa, make this a top priority to eat at. read more

This restaurant reminds me of an old country buffet type of restaurant with honey oak colored wooden seating and a simple and easy-going atmosphere. The service was good and the staff was really friendly and when we were seated for a wedding rehearsal dinner, despite the fact that there were 25 people or so, service was still good. As for food, I had chicken soup, a cheeseburger and fries. Soup was decent, reminded me of what you get from a chicken noodle soup can though in terms of the look of the bowl. The burger was too well done for my liking, so it was pretty average tasting. It kind of reminded me of what a lot of average bbqers produce when grilling burgers. The fries were good, They were cajun style and quite tasty. Overall I'd give this place 3-stars. I think a restaurant's star rating is based heavily on food quality (70%) and with some rating based on service and ambience. Service was 4-5 stars, atmosphere and ambience was 3 stars and the food was average at best, so 2.5-3 stars for that. read more

I've heard multiple recommendations for this place, and I decided to give it a try for breakfast. I got the Meat Lover's skillet and it was delicious. The potatoes inside were amazing, little crunchy cubes of fried deliciousness. My friend got the Cinnamon Roll French Toast and wasn't impressed - it came out luke warm. The food came out ridiculously fast and the service was great. Reasonably priced. I will definitely return. read more

We had been staying at the Hampton Inn all week and while their free breakfast is not bad, we really wanted something a bit fresher. After looking at reviews online we decided to give Sunfield restaurant a try. We were seated immediately and got drinks right away, but it took our server almost 10 minutes to take our order as she had three tables of food come out all at once. Once she was done, and she did apologize, we ordered. I got the pork chop and eggs and my wife got a Denver omelette with egg whites. We each got the pancakes. The food came out in good time, and was very tasty. The pork chop was moist and tender, and the Denver Omelette was stuffed with fresh vegetables, ham and cheese. The pancakes were light, fluffy, and very tasty. Our coffee cups were never empty, either. I highly recommend the Sunfield for breakfast when you are in Ottawa. read more

Cost $53.00 for a steak wrap, chicken parmigiana, and 2 pork chops. First of all the cost in general was absolutely ridiculous they don't put any prices for their specials on their little challenge board and $19 for a couple of pork chops that were dry and tough is a joke. Took almost 35 to 40 minutes to even get our food, and salad had nothing on it but salad and a few tomatoes that had no taste.I guess nobody in restaurants knows how to make a salad anymore because cheese and some other vegetables would be nice, this is not the only place that doesn't know how to make a salad. Waitress service was great that's why I gave her a good tip but there was a constant cold air blowing on me while I was sitting at the table and I was just about freezing. They need to update their windows in their restaurant they're probably making several hundreds of thousands of dollars a year I think they can spend some money on upkeep. I was overall very disappointed, and I think I'm pretty much banning this restaurant and most of the restaurants that want to raise their prices to absolutely ridiculous levels. Beware, because people are not going to continue to pay these prices at Sunfields or anywhere else, we are sick and tired of you gouging us and ripping us off. We will eat at home and the food will taste a lot better and it won't take me an hour to get my meal. read more

Very pleased! Warm, family friendly atmosphere. Menu offers something for every mood and the food was delicious! Plus, prices were very reasonable. Highly recommend!! read more

The food here is ok, the fresh soup reminds me of canned soup, but again was ok. I got the ribs they look great, and we're seasoned good, but smothered in sauce. I was up here for the weekend and this place was a last minute decision. I would eat here again, but it wasn't anything special. read more

We tried two different skillets, french toast and pancakes. Everyone was pleased with the food. I had the red rooster skillet--it was nice and spicy as I had hoped. I definitely recommend stopping at this restaurant! The service was great too..our coffee quickly refilled, our order came out quickly. This place is just the breakfast you're looking for. read more

Super yummy breakfast with tons of fruit on the sunfield waffle! Great service and location. Bruschetta omelet awesome and had fun!

Great service. Good pancakes. Decent coffee. I would love to give this place a five but my cinnamon roll french toast missed the mark. I would stop in again for a meal if I were in the area. read more

This is honestly the best breakfast you can get in the surrounding Ottawa area. They do serve lunch as well but no matter the time of day we order breakfast because it's that good. The portions are large and filling but not wasteful. The staff are all so friendly and to go orders are always hot. Our new favorite find on the menu are the breakfast burritos and the eggs Benedict is also divine. There are many reviews that mention the credit card processing fee but that doesn't bother us in the slightest. The business has to pay this fee and they would have to raise prices to cover this for everyone. Many places in Ottawa don't even accept credit cards. Give them a try- you won't regret it. read more

Disgusting, over-cooked frozen food! The vegetable medley that came on the side was cooked so long that the colors of the vegetables were all wrong. The mahi mahi was cooked too long and tasted terrible! The positive: the staff! Everyone was very kind & attentive, you can't find that everywhere. They definitely are an asset. I truly hope they are valued there. read more

Nice friendly atmosphere. Quiet. It was good food. Not great food. However the potato soup was delicious. I also loved that they served home made bread which includes home made raisin bread. Thats something I don't see very often. Usually they are heat and serve. The staff was friendly but the kids were kind of all over the place. Im not sure who was actually waiting on us. They were not that busy but they seem to spend a lot of time at the register talking leaving the workload for the young man running around. I will be back for the potato soup but Ill more than likely be getting it to go. read more

Don't eat here. Go further into town to find better options. Worst corned beef sandwich ever. It was processed, rubbery and bland. The signature Sunfield salad was tasteless topped with gelatinous Italian dressing. Burger and lasagna were dry, overdone, uninspired and tired. Staff was friendly but the food was a joke! Blah... read more

This place is awesome. The breakfast that they served was really good. I had the omelet that I really enjoyed and the prices are reasonable.

We stopped in here for breakfast before we went skydiving. Good simple breakfast, ambiance was typical of a breakfast place, everyone enjoyed their meal. Our server was awesome! She took great care of us and always made sure our water was filled up. She also told us of the legend of Bill Walsh, to which our friends and I still talk about. read more

Recommended to me by a young, beautiful and friendly receptionist that works nearby in this area; I ordered the 1/2 Reuben sandwich lunch special. It was the best Reuben I've ever had! We'd spent a long, busy day in Chicago and were traveling home when we stopped off the highway for gas and decided to grab a quick bite to eat. This was the only restaurant nearby that wasn't a fast-food joint, so we decided to give it a try. Sometimes, you just get lucky and find a real gem! Sunfield is one of those homey, family restaurants loved by locals. The decor isn't fancy, but the food is great and affordably priced. The staff was also very friendly. We'll be sure to stop back in the next time we're traveling through Illinois. read more

Great atmosphere, great service from waitress Amy... and great food! Would recommend to anyone who asks were to get some good down-home cooking!!! We had the fried and breaded Walleye, then some homemade Chicken noodle soup.... we came back the next day and had liver and onions, broasted chicken and homemade Chicken rosemary soup! Topped it off with a yummy piece of carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and a cup of coffee!! Need I say more???!!! read more

Pretty good. I had the light Iron man omelette and it was perfect with a fruit cup for breakfast! Very tasty!

My mother and I have been here twice now and this second time was a lot more enjoyable. I do want to apologize to the waitress though, my mom doesn't seem to grasp offensive jokes and who she may get away with telling them to. Sarah was the name on the bill and I hope she reads this. I felt awkward when she told you her first joke but our seemed to roll with the punches very well. Either way the food was good but the service was better by far. When we come back I hope we get you again :) read more

Great food friendly service and the cooks were very speedy. A very large breakfast menu to choose from .

I love this place. They have something for everyone on their menu! I get scared when I go to a restaurant and see so much on the menu because the quality usually suffers. Not here! This place used to be our favorite go to resturaunt. Paid 21.00 for a fatty prime rib that made my husband gag there was so much fat. Told waitress who was newer and she let kitchen know and they made excuses saying we still got the same weight meat There was a teenager working the register who asked us how things were which I dont know why bc she clearly knew nothing about customer service and was just going through the motions. I told her to tell the cooks they lost a customer of 3 years she was fine with letting us walk out as was the kitchen staff AND the wife owner took my call the next day only to tell me she wanted to find out what happened, no apologies, took my number only to blow me off. Obviously the wife owner doesn't care either. I will be sure and spread the word of this restuarant that used to be a great place to go. Wont set foot in there again when there are establishments that truly care about their customers. read more

Great dining option in Ottawa, Il. The staff that I dealt with was all super friendly. The food was hot and fresh and tasted homemade. I had the Italian beef which is more of a French dip, but it had a good flavor. You get bread, crackers, and cracker breadsticks with every meal which is a nice extra. Plenty of variety on the menu and breakfast served all day. If I was back in Ottawa, IL, this restaurant would be a top option. read more

Not a bad place for basic diner-style cuisine. Food was decent but nothing spectacular (though they do serve crispy-coat fries, which were pretty good).
