Karaoke, trivia, live music, etc. The kitchen is usually open until 10pm during the week which is sometimes why my bro and I venture here. My bro likes the spicy chicken strips and mini beef tacos. The cream cheese poppers are good. I was surprised with the ultimate adult grilled cheese, it's quite good for bar food. They recently added tuna melts to the menu which I was pleased. You can get the tuna melt with pita bread, regular sourdough bread or as a tortilla wrap. It is my new favorite thing on the menu. GREAT prices for good food! I got the Polancic's Tenderloin with the daily cold salad (macaroni salad), a pickle spear, and a drink- all for only $13! The macaroni salad tasted so good!! I've never had macaroni salad before, but after having it here, it won't be my last time that's for sure. I'm not a huge tenderloin fan, but I know from many people that the Ottawa tenderloins are top tier. Really neat place inside too! They had ping pong, pool, darts, sand volleyball, you name it! My Band, Crosstown Classics, has played at Shakers twice now and both times the atmosphere, crowd and food have been outstanding. I've stopped to come here frequently since the new ownership . Today I remembered why, after Walmart, saw the crowd playing volleyball and ask myself "why not".... One can of miller Lite: 3.75$ Than you tip the server and leave! There is absolutely nothing that justifies this price for a can of beer. Drinks were always inconsistent before like Bloody Mary, the menu needs magnified glasses .... Some things change to improve, but Shakers definitely can be categorized as a downgrade. I had the unfortunate experience of being ripped off tonight. By a lady with silver hair named Pam age older then 60. She charged me $10.00 for a drink. When I asked fellow customers how much they paid for drinks and researched in the internet the menu of the drinks the maximum amount is $7.00. When I asked another bartender she said $7.00. I always tip my bartenders. So unnecessary overcharging wasn't needed. Thank god afterwards I did get my change after I questioned why I was charged a lot for a fruity drink. read more

Let's start with the ambiance- pictures don't do it justice, its a big place with high ceilings and designated areas for the pool hall, dining in, bar, stage, backyard patio, beach volleyball set-up and a six slot machines. It's spacious!!!! Okay - it's official in my mind, that this is a local establishment. They have a board that lists buy backs for locals. $290 bucks available for any military person who wants a drink at Shakers. Now this is what I call a "public house." On the afternoon we came in, they were having a little bit of a fly problem at the bar. Flying around the drinks excetera... not comfortable but understandable. Service - hum, the bartender ladies were order takers who you need to flag down in an empty bar for a drink. Our first drink was served half full because the keg kicked. Hum, I wonder if we'll be charged for the whole glass. Grateful we weren't charged... Once you flag them down they are quick but conversation would be nice. We felt like they were completely disinterested in serving us. They were on FaceTime calls and vaping at the end of the bar. It took us almost ten minutes to get our bill yet two locals walked in and were served quickly. Food - we were going to eat dinner here but we went somewhere else instead. Traveling a lot for work has its benefits although it's not like the old days when the expense account was unlimited. Nowadays I have caps on how much I can spend per night on hotel rooms and a daily meal allowance. I'll admit that it took a few high level conference calls to get me to conform to three archaic rules but I don't sign the checks nor do I sign off on my expense reports. Some habits are hard to break. I told my coworker that I wanted a chili cheese dog. She made a few suggestions and we settled on Shakers. I had never been here so that was a plus. It took me way too long to find a parking spot, mainly because I entered through the exit and most of the spots were reserved for motorcycles although I couldn't tell until I got on top of them. There were not a lot of folks there when we arrived but it filled up quickly during the time we were there. We sat ourselves. The bartender, a gorgeous brunette with a nose ring and a penchant for saying "not a problem" with any request. I asked her "Does the chili you use on the chili dogs have beans in it"? "Yes it does" "I'll take the wings" I don't know if you've noticed but the cost of wings has skyrocketed. It was wings Wednesday at Shakers, $8 bucks got you 12 wings. There weren't tiny wings either but meaty big bird wings. I asked her to go light on the sauce which they did. We also ordered the cheese nuggets (kinda like fried cheese curds) and my co eater got a chicken, bacon ranch sandwich I believe. The cheese nuggets were great. Not overcooked, not greasy, just nice fluffy fried nuggets of cheesy goodness. Jodi would tell you the same thing. Good place, good food, good service. read more

Pretty impressive craft beer/sports bar, especially being in a small town right off I-80. They had so many crafts on tap, many of which I'd never seen before, got to have 2 new ones. I didn't get any food, but what I saw around me looked like usual quality bar food. Plenty of bar space and table seating options. I know from the outside, you might not think it's even a bar, it's somewhat unassuming, but the inside is really cool, with lots of TVs and video poker/slots machines, and cool decor on the walls. There's also volleyball courts and seating outside. I stopped here on a whim, on my way to Starved Rock, and had some time to kill, and I'm definitely glad I did. I highly recommend stopping there, either coming to/from Starved Rock, or anywhere off I-80. It's literally like 2 blocks off the highway. I used to come to shakers quite often when I was staying in Ottawa. I was not disappointed and it was as good as I remembered. My family and I had just finished running the Muddy Dash and we were covered in dried mud and shoeless. The hostess told us to go to the outdoor dining and to use the gate. That way we were not going through the dining room. Our server was on her game and made sure we had plenty of water. The food was great, it's bar food and it's good bar food! Wouldn't you know it, a volleyball game broke out! Kids had so much fun! They tell me we have to come back more often. Give these guys a try! read more

What can I say I love shakers! My boyfriends band plays here a few times a year and I will usually come down with him when they do. My boyfriend says their cheeseburger is the best burger he has ever had. I've never had a bad meal here. They have a crazy amount of wing sauces to choose from and most recently I got a really good BLT. The drinks are cheap and the workers are always so friendly it feels like a family bar honestly. Wish I was down more often to take advantage of the deck and the leagues. read more

Great stop as a traveler, just off Exit 90. This place offers a variety of items. Breaded mushrooms are on the menu so that was a win for us! Burgers are 1/2lb, juicy and delicious. Burgers take some time to cook, so don't expect a drive thru service time... it's gonna be a good 10-15 minutes. Price ranges $11-12 with fries or sweet potato fries as an add on item @$3.00. A variety of seating. Booths, tables, bar and outside. There are gambling machines inside as well as darts, pool and shuffle board. Outdoors is sand volleyball. I came here only because one of my local favorite bands, The Hillbilly Rockstarz, was playing that night. The place is big and perfect to come see a band play. I did not eat here but I loved the choices of beer they had and the drink prices were great. I guess I'm used to outrageous city prices. We sat at the table and we had a waitress come take drink orders once but we didn't see much of her. I opted for going to the bar and grabbing the drinks myself. There were only two bartenders from what I recall and only one of them was nice and friendly. The other seemed annoyed by me, she was in a corner taking to the regulars. Will I come back? Probably, if my band is playing. I imagine this being a fun spot for the locals but I would not go out of my way to come back here. I would not recommend coming here unless you want a bald guy bartending behind the bar saying sexual jokes. Made me feel really uncomfortable. At one point he was joking with some people on unzipping his pants. He should honestly not even be working there still because of that. I was going to get some food but had my two beers and paid and then left because of him. Also it was hard to get the two beers because the workers were over in the corner by the kitchen talking and vaping which they had signs saying can't vape inside but the workers are doing it. If you ride a motorcycle do not stop here. Most of the staff are rude, including the owner. He has signs up for motorcycle parking, yet told us he owns the establishment and if his regulars want to park there they can. We had a disabled person with us who couldn't walk long distances and yet the police were called and we were told we were in the wrong. And banned for life. Told the waitress we parked in motorcycle parking but if the cars that parked in motorcycle only parking can't get out we will gladly move after we are done eating. I'm not going to be interrupted while I'm eating because I properly parked. While we are eating this young lady comes over and with an attitude try's to demand we move our bikes so she can get ther car out of motorcycle parking. Owner says nothing pretty much hides from the problem young lady calls cops cool ‍ I don't give a shit I'm properly parked. Owner then comes when the cops arrive but won't talk to us and pulls the cops to the side to have them tell us we are not welcome back. When I entered Shakers Lounge there was no hostess/waiter/etc so it was a bit awkward sitting down. The food is pretty good and the burger patty is thick. I personally wouldn't go here again. However, I could tell the atmosphere is lively and perfect if you're into the sports bar scene. read more

Whenever we finish a day of hiking at either Matthiessen State Park or Starved Rock, we always come here for drinks and something to eat. This bar has a little bit of everything, and is kid friendly. From t.v.'s to gaming machines, a jukebox to the sand volleyball outside, pool tables and even a lotto ticket machine, this is your standard bar (and a little more). One particular Sunday, we chose to sit outside and bask in the sunshine. M ordered a Bloody Mary and the Southwestern burger; I just went with a beer and a Buffalo Chicken Hoagie. It wasn't particularly busy, but the service was slow. Seeing as how we weren't in a hurry, it wasn't a deal breaker but a bit frustrating. Everything from the drinks to our food took longer to arrive than on previous visits. Finally we received our food and immediately dug in. M's burger was cooked to perfection; I even managed to get a bite and I was slightly jealous that I didn't go the burger route. However, the Buffalo Chicken Hoagie was the perfect choice that day. The chicken was moist, tender, and drenched in buffalo sauce. The lettuce and onion application were spot on; just the perfect amount of each to compliment the sandwich. The fries were thick-cut, piping hot, and had just the right amount of salt. They have beer flights and over twenty draft beers on tap. They are constantly rotating their draft beer menu, which is appreciated for those looking to try something new. Their entertainment list is quite extensive and they don't have cover charges, which is pretty cool. Unfortunately I don't think I'll ever be out here on a weekend to enjoy any bands or anything, but it would be something I'd like to experience once. We stopped in for lunch because we had restaurant.com voucher. Well, first of all it's a total sports bar. Food is definitely an after thought. The ultimate nachos were $7.50 and was nothing more than some chips from a bag with chili and cheese poured over it. Oh, btw, it was served in a small plastic basket with wax paper. We were also given plastic dorks and knives and small paper plates. The burgers we ordered were also delivers in the same plastic baskets with chips. We had to order fries separately. Or sodas were also warm bottles with ice in a cup. No refills. The burgers were very dry and overcooked. Not too appetizing. The fries were average. The real issues were service. Or waitress is pregnant and when at the table was very good. She only came over to drop things off. We even had to bring the check up to the bar ourselves. It kind of seemed like they didn't care or even want us there. Like I said, it's geared more towards alcohol drinkers not the food at all. The nice thing is when we were leaving, we played some video poker and won some money which is dispensed in cash from an ATM style machine. I don't think I'll return to this place. I hate to leave this review. My husband and I go to Shakers all the time and all of the women who work there are great. My husband ordered a beer called the Lotus Queen. When he got the beer it was dark brown not the golden color of a New England IPA. He tells our bartender Kevin this isn't the right beer. Kevin starts arguing with him that he's in charge of tapping all the beers. There is no way that's the wrong beer because he is in charge. My husband tells him he doesn't want this beer. This guy tells him "just order another beer dude". Then he disappears. He never came back. We were there for lunch and didn't get to order anything. We showed the beer to one of the other people working there and she said it looks like a stout. Thankfully she took it off our bill. That jerk was going to charge us for it when he poured the wrong beer. When I looked through the reviews on yelp I see that there is a response on some of them from a person named Kevin. It says Kevin is the owner!!! I can't believe that the owner of Shakers would treat us in such a disrespectful way. Went to shakers to hang with some friends and grab a little bite. This was our default choice restaurant because pretty much everything in this small little quaint town is closed on Mondays. We discovered free Bingo on Monday night?!?! Awesome! They had dobbers you can borrow too! My friend & I played & we each won! We got free tacos and free brat's, good for our next visit. Pleasantly surprised by this discovery! My husband and I found this place after a road trip to Mattheissen State Park. We were looking for some place with a good beer selection and good burgers. We found both, and a fun atmosphere and great service to boot. They have about 25 beers on tap including selections from the local Ottawa Tangled Roots Brewing Company. They also have build your own bucket beer specials and flights so you can try a variety of beers. The food was quite good and they have a large selection on their menu ranging from Burgers to chicken sandwiches to steak and Philly Sandwiches and much more. They also have an outdoor deck-eating/drinking area that looks decent, but way too hot for that today. This was going to be the end of my review, but our waitress just came up and asked me how I liked my flight selection. She recommended one I didn't try and brought me a sample. I actually used to love coming here until my last few visits. I was greeted by a bartender Tuesday night with dark hair and bangs. When I asked how the cider was she very snobbish like stuck her nose up and said "I don't drink alcohol". Great for you honey. Neither do I normally either. But shout out for making me feel judged over having one pint of beer! I myself am a bartender and was completely disgusted with her behavior. We're super happy you're sober lady.
