The food has been really good every time we've gone here. The soups are yummy, a little on the salty side but good. Everything seems to be homemade but they're a bit on the pricey side. I had the porcupine meatball dinner, which had 2 meatballs, a little scoop of mashed potatoes, and green beans. I got a small soup and a slice of cake that came separate and it was 25.00! From the moment you walk in the door, you are overwhelmed with the amount of antiques. I can only imagine the length of time it took to collect this wonderful assortment. The food was fantastic. I had home battered fried chicken with tortellini and green beans. Price right for the amount of food I got I will be able to have two meals. The young girls that waited on me were superb! Couple of the paninis, it's really and truly all good here. Probably THE best restaurant overall in the area. It's charming inside with the decor and they have very unusual pantry items you won't find elsewhere so you might spot something you like as you wait in line. I've bought meat by the pound here and bread by the loaf or half loaf when I can, it's always, always terrific product. Can't say enough of good things about this place. Three of us were looking for a place to eat after a wake. I found Cheese Shop on Yelp and it had great reviews. I had the pastrami and Swiss panini and my partner had the chicken tenders, our friend had the grilled cheese. We all loved the food. Large servings. The pastrami reminded me of the meat at the Vienna store/restaurant in Chicago. They also serve Pepsi products and that was an additional plus for our party. The ambiance was old school with seat yourself tables after you order at the counter. Then they bring your food to you. The tables all had plexiglass tops with knickknacks inside -- our table had old fashioned ice cream scoops. Another table had a variety of marbles under the plexiglass. It is a charming little restaurant. Oh! Also, they have a parking lot. We all said that we wish Cheese Shop was closer to home , instead of over an hour away. This is my favorite hidden gem in Ottawa. I LOVE THIS PLACE! They have great food for lunch and dinner. My only complaint and only complaint is I wish they had more options for sides. Aside from that everything I've tried here has been very tasty. My personal favorites are the buffalo chicken sandwich or the Nashville sandwich! The staff is always nice. It's not really a place where you interact with the staff like a server but still they are nice. The atmosphere is perfect so many little trinkets and old fashioned crafts. Good place to stop while on the road. Casual tasty food served in healthy portions. Nice atmosphere with much to see. Our table was a glass topped collection of fishing reels. Very impressed with the Cheese Shop Deli. This is the second year in a row I've had them cater a family event. I have never been inside the shop until this year. I emailed Matt about two months in advance with my order. He promptly responded and gave me pricing which are very reasonable prices. One of the quotes I received, which was for approximately 25-40 people, was: 2-16" party sandwich trays $76.98 1-18"fruit and cheese $52.95 1-18"cheese ball and salami $53.99 1-18" vegetable and dip $44.39 Crackers are not included We didn't get the cheese ball but everything else was amazing. You choose the kind of sandwiches so I went with a variety of tuna salad (really good), ham and Swiss, and turkey and Swiss. The sandwiches were beautifully arranged on two metal platters. They are tiny little sandwiches with round rolls and they are perfect for a party. I also ordered a fruit and cheese platter which was piled high with a nice assortment of four cheeses cut in cubes. The fruit was a variety of strawberries, two kinds of melon, red grapes, and pineapple. My guests devoured the food and there was still some leftovers. Plenty of quality meats and cheeses, and excellent service. When I arrived to pick up my order, I was pleasantly surprised to see the shop. It's so cute! They have a small restaurant in the front, and the deli counter in the back. Lots of antiques and cheese making memorabilia to look at while you wait. My husband couldn't resist and ordered a big panini to go. It came with a side of house made kettle chips which he let me taste and they are awesome. This place is an awesome, hidden-gem, in a residential area of Ottawa! I definitely need a return trip (or 20) to try out everything on the menu and the homemade desserts in the cooler. We had just gotten done with a hike at Buffalo Rock and were hungry for cold cut sandwiches. We googled it and this place showed up in results. I ordered a 6" sub (which the menu doesn't tell you what's on it) and it was AMAZING!!!! It was so stuffed with turkey, ham, salami, cheese, lettuce, tomato, HOMEMADE pickles, cucumber and green peppers (I ordered mine with no onion or olives!!!!!) It was one of the freshest deli sandwiches I've ever had. My husband ordered a panini and it came with homemade chips, which were sooo good!!!
