I really have no complaints. I arrived early before opening and there was already a line at the door. Got the last of about 5 parking spots. Once they opened, the line moved fairly quickly. There was not much indoor seating, so I took mine to go. Everything was really good to me.

On this visit- we were having a going away party for one of our neighbors and this is his favorite place. We went early on a weeknight and had excellent service and food. We were there on a Thursday so I had to have their prime rib special. It was as good as the other things on their menu! And not so gigantic that it was hanging off the plate! We also shared some apps and others at the table had the salmon and the chicken sandwich which they said was the best they have had. Pretty high praise! Worth the visit!

The food is delicious and the portions are just right. Despite being full, the service was superb. Our waiter Shae was attentive and very accommodating to my specific requests. I highly recommend making dinner reservations if you're visiting on a Saturday night. I also recommend taking an Uber if possible because parking can be challenging but it's like that in all of Las Olas. Can't wait to return! Thank you to our waiter Shae for making our wedding anniversary dinner so special.

Our service, handled by Adam the bartender, was excellent. South is located in the historic downtown district. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and clean with a fantastic indoor/outdoor bar and lots of high top bar seating. The place is bright with lots of windows. The booths are very comfortable. They have a very nice outdoor seating area too that is covered and large. There is free street parking all over and a free public lot a block away. Getting in and out is easy. They offer a great express lunch menu that includes the most popular menu items for $5-6 less than the regular menu. The portions are the same size. This express menu reduces the lunch cost considerably. We started with the gumbo. It was truly delicious in every way. Nice slices of andouille sausage and chicken. The flavor was very Cajun. I had the Cobb salad with honey fried chicken. My friend had the same with grilled chicken. My fried chicken was excellent - crisp, moist and sweet! The romaine was very fresh and crisp. The bacon, eggs, red onions, avocado were delightful. Everything was extremely fresh. I also had a craft beer. We had a great lunch experience and I plan to return again.

Hands down the best fried chicken I have ever had from a restaurant--so flavorful and perfectly crisp. The indoor space is small and crowded with lots of noise as it is mostly a bar scene. We went early and were seated right away. They don't take reservations. There was still plenty of outdoor seating but it is very warm outside in October. It is not a big menu but they have lots of New Orleans selections which was my reason to visit. Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice, Crawfish étouffée but mostly the grilled oysters as i am a big fan. They had a variety of grilled choices so i chose the black and blues for something different. A little blackened spice, compound butter and blue cheese. They were cooked well and i enjoyed them as a treat. Also ordered the fried green tomatoes. They were fried well but next time i would ask for the remoulade sauce on the side. I would like to return and try the rest of the menu. I didn't get my fill of New orleans food yet. i hear the place gets real busy during Saints games. I would enjoy sitting outdoors as the weather gets cooler. They have burgers and wings on the menu. The burger was very good too. Parking was ok in the strip center. Prices were very fair. There aren't many places to get cajun food. Definitely worth a try.

If you're driving a larger truck, be aware that parking is available but pretty tight. Once inside, we were warmly greeted by the host, who was incredibly friendly and escorted us to our table. Our waitress was just as wonderful--attentive, personable, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. There was music playing everyone there was enjoying themselves. Since it was Tuesday, we both ordered the all-you-can-eat fried catfish special for $21.99. They start you off with hush puppies and coleslaw, and when your meal arrives, you get your choice of a side. We both chose the fries. The portions were generous, with plenty of crispy fried catfish on the plate. The fish itself had great flavor, was perfectly crispy, and wasn't over-breaded. The hush puppies were delicious, and the French fries were cooked just right. My husband, who considers himself a bit of a coleslaw connoisseur, really enjoyed the coleslaw. I wasn't as impressed with it, but that's just my personal preference. My biggest disappointment was the tartar sauce. For a restaurant that's been around as long as Catfish Dewey's, I expected a homemade tartar sauce. Instead, it came in a pre-packaged container and tasted overwhelmingly of onion. Unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. If I were rating everything individually, I'd give the catfish a 7/10, the hush puppies an 8/10, the fries an 8/10, the coleslaw a 5/10, and the tartar sauce a 0/10. Overall, we enjoyed our visit, especially the friendly service and the crispy catfish. While it wasn't the best fried catfish we've had, it was still a good meal. As I always say, don't let my opinion make your decision. Everyone's taste is different, so go try it for yourself and form your own opinion. You might love it!

A perfect setting. The cashier/order taker was a gracious lady, polite, and attentive. The place had a pleasant, smoky aroma, just like it should. My wife and I went for the food, which is the central point of going to a restaurant. And the results met my expectations of the "Texas Standard". Brisket: full of flavor, with a nice smoky and all round taste. A minor issue was that it could have been a bit more moist. I say minor because this is the easiest thing to correct, by small adjustment. First rate. Spare ribs: excellent. My wife was over the moon. She is Brazilian and a veteran of Brazil BBQ. They were delicious. Chicken: perfectly smoked and moist. Even the white meat. There was a present bark on the surface, which added to the taste. Sausage: delightful. Obviously an individual, small batch recipe. Very flavorful and moist. Superb. Cornbread: My favorite style of light, natural flavor, not oily. Iced Tea: fresh taste and flavor. Not bitter. High quality. Sauces: regular and tangy. As good as I have ever tasted. Potato Salad: The best I have ever tasted in my 78 years. Different and unique. Coleslaw: Perfect. Cannot, in my opinion, be improved upon. Price: surprisingly fair. Very fair. I was pleasantly surprised at such Texas quality in Fort Lauderdale. We will be going to no other for BBQ.
