All I can say is Wow! Yes, there can be a line first thing in the morning. And, yes, it is totally worth waiting 15 minutes to get a truly amazing bagel. I tried the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich on a pumpernickel bagel. Bacon amazing. Tomato jam so good I went home to find a recipe to make it the next time I had a BLT. I also tried a Blue Corn bagel that was crusted in crunchy blue corn meal, the interior was soft and flavorful and the size was small, as a good bagel should be. I also took home a cheese and Calabrian chile bagel that was equally delicious. The other win for Sunday Babels is the vegan cashew spread, that according to my vegan daughter, is unmatched by any other restaurant. I'd have to agree with her and, so far, have been unable to recreate the delicious spread. If I'm in Albuquerque for the weekend, I'm waiting in line for a bagel. read more

I am a true bagel connoisseur and always seek out bagel places anywhere I travel. This was one of the best places I've ever been! All the bagel flavors are really interesting and delicious. I also liked all the cream cheeses. I ended up taking a bunch of bagels home with me. They do seem to sell out pretty early though so get there early if you want to try a bunch. read more

I feel so lucky! We were briefly in town, popped into the farmers market, and got the green chili and cheese bagel with regular cream cheese. This place is so good! After living on the East Coast I got really picky about my bagels and these are amazing! My order was ready really fast and it didn't disappoint. I tried their hatch green chile cheese bagel with scallion cream cheese (yuuummm) and their pizza bagel. Get there early, they run out fast! Came back because it's just the best bagels. Overall: I don't really know anything about bagels, but Sunday Bagels are my favorite in Albuquerque (so far) in comparison to Kaufman's, Horizon, and The Bagel & Deli. Food: 5 The bagels are always crisp on the outside with a chewy inside that isn't too dense or fluffy. It tasted good even after letting it cool down for over an hour. Sunday always has og bagel and spread flavors mixed with some interesting flavors that change. Service: 5 The staff is always super friendly and it doesn't take too long to get your order. Ambiance: 4 Sunday now has a brick and mortar shop that is small but still contains a couple of tables inside if you want to eat your bagel asap. The parking lot is large though! read more

Sorry, going to go with overhyped on this one. Liked the concept and wanted to love this place, but it's not doing it for me. Cold Smoked Salmon - 3/5 I like the red chile take on cold smoked salmon, but the lavender doesn't really work in there. Sesame Bagel - 1/5 Flavor is just ok, but could really go without the large salt crystals in the dough. Rosemary and Olive Oil - 2/5 I quite liked the flavor of this one, unfortunately the amount of salt really ruined it for me. Hummus - 4/5 Actually quite a nice spread. I'll be saving this one for some bread later. Overall 2/5 My mouth still tastes of salt more than an hour and a half after eating the bagels. Not only is that a problem from a health standpoint, it's just plain unpleasant. I can't see myself going back here unless the salt level goes way down, which is too bad, because I really like what they're doing. read more

I've been a fan of Sunday Bagels since the first time my son and I decided to brave the long line at the Downtown Growers Market! Sourdough bagel dough is something new to me but it gives the bagel more depth of flavor and Sunday definitely doesn't skimp on the toppings. It's so nice to have locally made bagel options! We ordered three different pairs of bagels to pick up on the weekend - fermented garlic and honey, date, and an everything bagel. if i could i would put 7/5 stars ! I have majority of my family live on the east coast . including NY NJ MI VA RH etc . I was born and raised here in abq. After visiting my family through out the years and having the amazing experience called the known "Bacon egg cheese on a NY bagel " i tried so many here in Abq NM. non were able to even come close to a large , fluffy , sturdy/crunchy outside with the fluff on inside experience . most places in town i would experience the known "oh we try our hardest due to our elevation" which i completely agree . This why i settled on average maybe 1-2 inch bagels thinner etc . Until i tried this place !! I heard the rave , went to the farmers market and B lined straight to there tent ! ordered the 4 pack togo and 1 bagel to eat with smear right then and there . All i can say is, it was amazing and im hooked . that was about 2 months ago . My whole purpose of going to the farmers market is to get my morning bagel with togos . and then explore other stalls . i just went this saturday to their actual location (which is very close to the farmers market) and got 4 togo . Solid bagels but hardly perfect. First off, yes we live in expensive times, but $3+ a bagel is just ridiculous. Explain to me how the salt bagel is $2.25, the everything bagel is $3 and the "pizza bagel" is $3.50. That just doesn't make any sense to me. You aren't putting $.75 worth of seeds and labor into that everything bagel. An extra .25, maybe. Or is there $1.25 more on the pizza bagel? I don't think so. So for the quality... These are fresh and pretty good. But they don't have the elasticity that differentiates a bagel from a roll with a hole. These are decidedly fluffier than they should be--which you immediately get (even without tasting them) by the fact that they are very fat (barely any hole at all). So, for NM, they're good. For a true NY-style bagel (of which they're aren't very many in NY anymore), this doesn't quite do it for me. Spreads are solid as is the salmon--though the salmon has a slightly harsh smoke to it reflected in the darkness of the outside. So, I'd go back but I wouldn't rush back. Folks were nice and smiley. Definitely the Patagonia tribe vibe. read more

Had I posted a review when I first tasted a Sunday Bagel a few months ago I would have given it a solid 5 stars but my more recent experience has made me wonder if I'm paying full price for day old bagels. Bagels don't stay fresh for long unfortunately. I want this endeavor to thrive and feel confident that a brick and mortar place will serve me the fresh tender bagels of my earlier tastings and not the tough difficult to chew ones I've bought of late.
