This ice cream shop understood the memo! Paris themed? You bet. Cool and refreshing on a hot day? Yes!! They have a beautiful assortment of handmade ice creams. You can watch them cook and wrap the waffle cones right in front of you! In addition to ice cream they also carry a wide assortment of vintage-looking bottled sodas. I wish the upstairs section hadn't been closed off. It would have been cool to perch on the upper level and people watch. The service was impeccable. I was impressed when they noticed a harried mom with a very active baby accidentally dropped her ice cream - they immediately ran out from behind the large bar to help clean up the mess and comped her a new ice cream. I loved the old-time drugstore feel, the French-themed decor, the blessedly cool A/C in the Texas heat and the ice cream was delicious. I tried the coconut flavor which was rich and creamy with fat coconut flakes in it and the chocolate which was especially dark and decadent. I know the name caught my eye when I was playing Pokemon around downtown in the morning, but could not go because it was really early in the morning. I think the name is very catchy. Inside the atmosphere is cool, it was a good 1900's bar the way a soda shop looks like. Anyways they have a good menu. I ordered the superman which is vanilla ice cream, but with coloring. I got it with pineapple and whipped cream with a cherries. The prices were very reasonable as well. Service was good as we got samples before we bought. read more

Went in on Saturday, and we were 2nd in line. The cashier was in shop alone and it quickly got busy. Behind us came a group of 4 teens and then two families after that. Two additional families came in and saw how busy it was and turned around and left. Each time the front door opened, the visibly stressed and overworked cashier looked towards the door, shook her head in disbelief and mumbled a few colorful words. The customer before us received his 3 shakes and we were up next. We watched and we were skipped, while she made 4 other ice creams. After the 4th ice cream was handed out, I went up to the counter and asked for a refund. The cashier said she could not give a refund and stated she could give me a gift card instead. I let her know that we were not from the area and were passing through, so I needed a refund instead. She stormed off, using more colorful language and phoned her boss. She came back to the register - crying. I expressed that I understood that she was alone and super stressed however it had been 35-40 minues and 4 orders that had come in after ours had been taken care of. She let us know that she was overworked and was also very "sensitive" before she lashed out telling us that "it cost nothing to be understanding and kind" before berating us and yelling at us like we were kids for not understanding that she was overworked and busy. Please note, we are an African American, same sex couple and the way she was micro aggressive and played victim - speaks volumes. Did that have something to do with it? That is how it was made to feel. What could have been a quiet refund transaction, turned into your cashier lashing out due to stress, yelling at us and embarassing us due to you overworking her. I hope that she is able to get additional training on how to professionally handle refund requests and I also pray that you do not leave ONE employee to handle your Saturday rush alone, with no help at all. Be warned that if you want it to go, you should say that first-there was a bit of a wait, and when we were served, we were served in old-school, proper glassware. I have one word for this place.. AMAZING!! I was surprised the lack of business when I walked in. The two ladies working had a very uplifting spirit! I love when I walk in and they are having fun while working, so much laughter and smiling. Very clean place and the music makes me feel like I walked into a 1920s styled movie.
