There are a lot of bad reviews. Be sure to look at the date; most are around Covid. In my…read moreprofession, I get A LOT of opinions about places from patients. And EVERY negative opinion I've received about PA is an occurrence that was not the facilities fault. But the family member perceived it as such. My mother was there twice before she passed away in 2019 with no issues. My father has been there for 6 months (yes, in rehab!). 89yo, dementia, broken hip, non ambulatory). The rehab was awesome. After all was said and done, he needed long term care. It was unsafe to take him home. Yesterday he entered their long term section. The 6 months he's been there in rehab have been nothing short of wonderful. Family presence is important! My sister and I are up there at least one hour every day if not more. Visiting hours are 10-8, so I can go around work. The nurses there became like family. Treat them with respect and they will treat you and your loved one the same. They're all angels! (Ok there was 1 bad one in 6 months, but I told her how I felt, and the head nurse, and honestly I never saw her again‍. For a profession that is plagued with being short staffed, these nurses are amazing! When reading a review, understand that people remember the bad and report on it; not the good. Unfortunately when your loved one is affected, it's a bad time. This phase in our life is a bad time; but this facility has helped us on every level. I have heard negative opinions from family members and especially nurses at Sentara Princess Anne in the ER. Well of course they see all their patients, they're the closest hospital!! And my experience is that the nurses and drs at princess anne rehab don't dismiss ANYTHIING! They take nothing with a grain of salt! Chest pain, high fevers, concerns, all get the attention they deserve. I personally appreciate this! My advice is visit your loved one regularly, treat the staff with respect (even if you're scared), and stay in faith and daily prayer. God wants to bless you

This place is horrific. I hate the fact that my grandfather spent his last years here, but with the difficulty of finding good nursing homes, I opted for one only minutes from home. This place is atrocious. I complained to the state ombudsman a few times but he was useless. Had to call the police when I found out they found my 97 yo with dementia outside laying on the shrubs. I didn't find out until the evening. When I called the police, even they were infuriated with the lack of care and answers they received from the staff. Food? NON EXISTENT. If you care for your loved one, stop by for dinner and check out their plates with cold vegetables. Lack of food, cold food, laundry that sits around urinated until you fight and complain. Have you tried calling after 630 pm to reach your loved one? Good luck. What about visiting after 6pm and the door wide open with NO ONE at the desk. Anyone can walk in there at night. Don't believe it? Test my theories for yourself. Sadly it doesn't matter if you complain to the city, their inspectors do the very minimal when it comes to nursing homes. This place needs to close and so does its parent company that manages over 14 nursing homes. It's a money business that's all. To add insult to injury - did you know that they charge Medicare and Medicaid nearly $13,000 a month for this tragedy? Worth it if they were providing the care - not for what they are providing. One night nurse for 20 patients ?? (I'm sure they will deny it now). Our seniors deserve better than this. Princess Anne could care less. With over $35,000 in federal fines, countless complaints, multiple citations for neglect, poor supervision, and repeated failures to correct the issues. Ms.Heather is such a joy to interact with and has made my mothers stay At bay point very pleasantread more

Unbelievable...My mother was there for 3 weeks, three weeks too long…read more I'm not sure what upset me more, her bedsores (she is 81 & been in a few rehab centers here), she has NEVER come home with bedsores. When they discharged her, they provided transport because at this time my mother is bed bound, they brought her into the foyer/common area in a wheelchair & left her...alone. Just thankful there was staff still at work to notify me that she was in the hallway. After getting her home, I looked into the bag with personal belongings for discharge paperwork & medication lists/RX that I would go by until she physically went back to her doctor...nope, no discharge paperwork, no RX. So the next morning first thing, I went to Bay Point to at least get a copy of discharge instructions. I tried to speak to social worker but she was in a meeting. The young lady that came up front was just plain rude. She stated that they don't furnish discharge instructions...Um you are the only rehab I know that has that practice. Once again my mother is 81, she has had a few surgeries & been in rehab multiple times, this is the FIRST time I have not been provided discharge instructions & post-rehab medications. Thankful I have doctors & nurses that guided me in the right direction. I would not let them near my dog & I would not reccommend this facility to anyone.

My mom was at Bayside for 3 months, as a long term care resident. I am writing about the care , not…read morethe rehab facility. As with any place there are always pros and cons : The positive pros are about some of the wonderful staff - First is Samantha Alzola the Social Worker. She's very professional, caring and provided my sister and myself numerous guidance and assistance while navigating these new, uncharted waters. Always pleasant to deal with, no matter how much her work load was. Next are the individual care givers , the L.P.N.'s and C.N.A 's. First is Andrea Dunn, PA. she was very knowledgeable, approachable, and runs the all the medical care . She spent time to explain Mom's situation and all options to help us make hard decisions. Andrea was easy to get along with and not intimidating at all. Next are the caregivers who after 3 months I got to know quite well. there are always "earth angels" and 2 who no longer work there that I want to mention as they were instrumental in mom's care : Maria CNA and Markita LPN. Nikierra LPN(Nikki) was a wonderful, kind, caring and a compassionate caregiver to our mom. Also were the CNA'S who showed extreme kindness and love whenever they had to take care of mom. They are Cheree, Danasia, Shanice And Darlene. Darlene was the first caregiver when mom arrived who filled us in with all the important details and guided us on the way things worked. Lastly was a speech therapist Becca who showed kindness and compassion whenever she dealt with mom, whose hearing was extremely lacking. Since this facility is relatively small with only 3 wings and 60 beds I believe the caregivers really get to know the patients and their family , if they choose to. Here are the cons that I'd like to share: Within one week mom's left hearing aid was missing. We believe it was thrown away on one of her meal trays. I reported it to various staff members and got the same reply, "the administrator is aware of it". The Administrator Madison, never contacted either myself or my sister about the hearing aid so we assumed it wasn't too important to her otherwise she would have addressed the situation. We decided not to pursue the missing hearing aid since mom still had 1 left. The next negative experience was when my sister arrived and was told by my mom's roommate that my mom Fell Out Of Bed !! That was quite surprising especially since mom was bedridden and not able to move by herself. First of all neither of us were called and notified. Once my sister began questioning staff we then learned that while a CNA was washing her, she turned my mom too far and that's how she fell out of the bed. Yes they took ex-rays and no bones were broken but not to be notified was quite alarming and poor administration protocol. Other staff could not believe we weren't called. There was a meeting arranged with the head of nursing Shannon and my sister a few days later. The results were a bunch of excuses why we weren't called, like they didn't know I was the POA ( which was clearly a lie, as that is the first form along with end of life wishes you fill out!) . All we got was lip service and a lot of excuses why we weren't called. This to me was totally unacceptable and when I saw Shannon a few days later and tried to speak to her she was extremely rude and unprofessional to me. This is my personal experience with Bayside Health and Rehab from June 2025 thru beginning Sept. 2025

My husband was transferred to Bayside after being in ICU and step-down for over a week following a…read morehemorrhagic stroke. He could only eat a mechanical diet (finely chopped foods) or pureed food, but he was receiving the same type food as everyone else (which was a choking hazard). His liquids were supposed to be without ice and thickened using a thickener (I provided some packets), but they brought him ice water to drink (another choking hazard). I would point this out each time they brought his food and/or drink wrong, and I would get "Not my job" or "Not my problem". At the end of the third day, I had heard those two statements over 16 times (I stopped counting at that point). It was four days before I spoke with anyone other than the CNAs, Nurses, other medical staff, and housekeeping (they were the nicest). None of the medical staff identified the role or advised if they were a nurse, CNA, volunteer, etc., with the exception of the CNA the first night - it was her first day on the job and her third day after completing her training. I watched as patients rang for assistance, and saw that for some it took well over an hour for a response (medical staff were at the central desk, most of them talking not working). The gentleman my husband was sharing a room with rang for help getting to the restroom, and after over 75 minutes someone (nurse or CNA) came in and when she found he had wet himself chewed him out for not waiting!!! Then she said it wasn't her job to clearn him up!!! He was supposed to have daily physical and occupational therapy as well as speech therapy. In the six days he was there, he had a single session of speech therapy and approximately 60 minutes of physical therapy. We started working on getting him transferred, and were fortunate to find a bed at Lake Taylor, but getting him discharged from Bayside was another problem. Lake Taylor had a bed ready for him on Tuesday, and they had sent their paperwork to the person "in charge" of transfers, but she did not return any of my calls or messages. By Friday of that week, I had arranged for medical transportation to take him to Lake Taylor that afternoon. After he was on the gurney and ready to be moved, a woman came running down the hall saying "I forbid him to leave". She was the person I had been trying to get all week. Long story short (too late), I gave her 5 minutes to provide me with the needed paperwork, or the gentlemen with the gurney were leaving with my husband and taking him to Lake Taylor. We left in about 4 minutes and 47 seconds. He has been at Lake Taylor for about a month and a half, physical and occupational therapy 5-6 days/week and some days more than once, his has finished speech therapy, and is improving. The difference between Bayside and Lake Taylor wasn't night and day, it was 2 miles down in a coal mine and day. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES THERE!!!!
