    My friends and I went atv for our annual summer trip and I would say we all had a blast! We booked ahead of time for 1hr. Most of us booked the 4x4 450cc ATV and two people booked the 2 seater UTV. It was so much fun, and instructions were well given to ensure our safety. There was a shuttle going from where we get our helmets to the actual ATV area which was super convenient. Our shuttle driver was nice and funny too. We will be back for sure!! Only downsides- our reservation was at 11am but we didn't get on our atvs until 12pm as we had to wait for atvs to be available. Also this place should use some bigger signs to easily locate as there are different ATV businesses next to each other.

    If I could give zero stars, I would. Booked a Polaris RZR weeks in advance for a group trip--was supposed to be an epic first-time adventure. Instead, it was a hot mess. Showed up early, watched the safety video, had our goggles ready... but no vehicle. Staff shrugged and said it was "in the shop," but it'd be there in 15. (It wasn't.) After 30+ minutes of waiting, they offered us an ATV, even though my partner had just recovered from a broken foot. We agreed because what else could we do? Rode for 20 minutes, came back, and the RZR had finally arrived... broken. It barely moved. Turns out it was in "limp mode." Staff casually mentioned Sunbuggy is "known" for this--overbooking and renting out broken stuff. That wasn't great to hear. Also, not to mention that everyone in our group had issues! Not one of the 11 of us had a decent experience. Wasted hours, didn't get what I paid for, and left frustrated and my partner limping. We don't want a credit. We want our money back--and maybe an apology for ruining our trip. Definitely won't be back.

    Oceano Dunes

    This was our second year with Sunbuggy. We thought last year was great with the weather accommodations they had given us but this year was 10x better. The staff were all beyond helpful and encouraged our youngest to get his own quad (which is what he has been hoping would be possible). They took time to find the right fit for him and taught him to ride. Our oldest was upgraded to a bigger and better quad and he was ready to let it rip. Everyone was beyond friendly and helpful, explaining the damage fees and the reasons why our extra coverage wouldn't be valid, which was nice to understand. All in all, we couldn't ask for more and can't wait for next year.

    Even though this review is a bit overdue, we didn't want to let the experience pass without sharing some honest feedback. My girl and I came here on Valentine's Day hoping to enjoy the dunes, go off-roading, and make some adventurous memories together. It had also been a little dream of mine to get behind the wheel of a Maverick, which is the vehicle we chose. To start with the positives, the staff was genuinely great. Andrew, in particular, stood out, he was beyond fantastic. The "orientation" was straightforward and efficient, and we even had a brief interaction with the owner, who was also friendly. Now, unfortunately, to the part that matters most. The Maverick we were given did not have functioning four-wheel drive, the front wheels specifically, and it appeared to be equipped with standard road tires rather than something suitable for sand. As you can imagine, wet sand and improper tires, increases the likelihood of getting stuck... which is exactly what happened. To their credit, they do offer assistance if you get stuck. However, we were told help would arrive "as soon as possible," and in our case, that ended up being over an hour. During that time, we repeatedly called for updates and were left waiting in the dunes. And they were having a difficult time locating us, considering the QR code on the vehicles, which doubles as a location update had been torn apart previously, so we didn't even have that to zero in onto where we were. Eventually, one of the team members came out to assist us and switched our vehicle to a Wolverine, which I believe is a Yamaha. That was appreciated. That said, the most disappointing part of the experience was the lack of any meaningful follow up or gesture to make things right. After losing a significant amount of time and dealing with a preventable issue, we expected at least some form of acknowledgment, whether that be a partial refund, extended ride time, or another opportunity with the Maverick. Overall, the staff was kind and professional, but the equipment and handling of the situation left a lot to be desired. With better maintenance and customer recovery, this could have been an amazing experience.

    The pros: - The young folks running the business were pleasant and sharp enough - Once you are out on the dunes on the ATVs, it is an absolute blast! The cons: - The drive from their check-in office all the way out to where the rental vehicles are is a slog, and there is quite a wait for the shuttle bus in each direction. Thus, while we were signed up for an "hour" event, between showing up an hour early, waiting for the shuttle, and then coming back, it was more like 3 1/2 hours in total - The ATVs we were given to ride were not in the best condition. They were worn out, and my ATV shut down multiple times out in the dunes due to electrical issues that we had to fiddle with. My seat also came loose during the ride. Tips: - If you are going to do ATVs and are of adult size, get the 450s with four wheel drive, it is well worth the expense to be able to power your way up the dunes easily

    Great staff, everyone was so warm and welcoming! Great vibes, very personable. The service was excellent, they were very orderly and professional with every aspect of the experience from end to end. The actual ATV experience was amazing, soooooo much sand, dunes, etc... I would highly recommend sunbuggy for your next ATV experience!

    The check in process was a torture with just one check in Rep. The additional paperwork was unexpected as we thought all the forms were completed online. It took a whole extra hour to wait in line to check in, to get a clip board to fill out more forms then to have to get back in line wait some more and then to finally get our helmets goggles and then another 15 to 20 minutes wait for a shuttle to take us out to the beach to get our vehicles. Our reservation was at 10, we arrived at 9:15...and we did not start driving until almost 11. All of the staff was really nice. You'll definitely need more than one hour out there in the dunes. We booked two hours but only used about 90 mins. I really hope they make the check-in process smoother in the future. Also ATV vehicles were a bit outdated and beat up. I had to swap out a couple times because the steering was stuck.

    We were told to get there an hour before our time. Maybe it was because our appointment was so early... But we ended up waiting a long time and got on the doom buggy at 10 thirtyish. Our call time was 10:00. Anyway, it was really fun and the staff was very helpful. The call time response was very quick which I appreciated. The main guy that helped us through all the times we got stuck or something happened to our vehicle was Bryan. He was very kind and helped us get un sunk. we had a very good time. The dunes were great and it wasn't too crowded. Be forewarned, bring some form of eye protection. We ended up being able to buy some on the beach. But, it'll be cheaper if you bring it yourself. It was easy to get stuck, so avoid the soft sand. Nevertheless, I had a great time and would do it again. I gave it a solid 8.5 out of 10.

    Amazing experience. We came to Valentines Day, amazing prices, great equipment. The staff? Amazing. So incredibly helpful. We got stuck and once we sent our location, they came within 10/15 minutes and helped us out. They take their time answering questions and perfect customer service. Thank you for such a great experience! We WILL be back

    I booked Sunbuggy in Oceano for 6 people 1 month in advance. I called & spoke with a female explaining I wanted 3 UTVs so we could all sit beside each other. I was told I was paying for 3, 2 seater UTVs & paid over the phone. The afternoon before our scheduled ride, we were asked to show an hour earlier to accommodate the high volumes or riders booked for our scheduled time slot. The morning of Saturday, 920/2025, 2 female employees were operating the check-in windows. They both helped me that morning but the 2nd female helped me once my forms were filled out & gave us our helmets. The 2nd female to help us was Caucasian with very dark brown hair. When she handed me my helmet, I was surrounded by 5 people. I took a step back so I could have adequate space & for someone to help hold my things. The female employee became visibly aggravated, spoke towards me with an aggressive & condescending tone. She extended her upper torso out of the window & yelled, "You cannot move from in front of the window. I need to see if the helmet fits you." I attempted to explain why I stepped aside & she continued to yell, "You cannot hide behind a crowd of people." The crowd was the group I was riding with & I was in plain site. As she handed 2 helmets to people in my group, she quickly grabbed more without watching the others try on their helmets. Her behavior towards me felt targeted & was unprofessional. Once we arrived to the beach to start our ride, I found out I was actually booked for 1 UTV and 2 ATVs. I spoke with Brad, the manager, who listened to me & explained the current situation. I agreed to the 2 ATVs as what I originally thought I booked was "booked out." Brad explained the "yellow 2 up has an oil leak. I told my guys to check it out to make sure it's safe." One male & a female, Jocelyn/Josalyn (unsure of spelling), were assisting us on the beach. Jocelyn spoke to us with an aggressive tone once I brought up the oil leak on the ATV they were renting to us. She responded, "I don't know anything about an oil leak. All I was told was to get the vehicles on the trailer." She was visibly frustrated & handed our contract over to the male assisting us. He looked at the yellow ATV & said it was safe to ride. 15 minutes into our ride, the UTV stopped working and then the yellow 2 up ATV started smoking. If it wasn't for Robert, the most incredible staff member of Sunbuggy in Oceano, I would've requested a full refund. He came to our rescue, provided us with appropriate vehicles, & added additional time on our clock that was spent receiving help. Robert has amazing customer service; he made us feel heard & taken care of. Robert deserves 5 stars for his work ethic & kind nature during stressful events. If you decide to book with this company, beware of the unprofessional attitudes you may encounter upon arrival.

    Great equipment, super fun rides, and amazing service. Check in was pretty quick (I recommend watching the safety video before you arrive), and then it was a short shuttle ride to the dunes. Amazing scenery.

    What is the minimum age?

    I think it goes by body weight .. my daughter was 9 years and 55 lbs heavy when she rode the smallest atv bike they had.

    My 12 year old wants to ride his own Atv with me and my licensed nephews ages 16-18, do we have to take the atv class a a community college or just watch a video like other places before renting from you?

    We do not yet have an opening date and are waiting for California Parks to let us know when.

    Do you have to reserve an atv in advance?

    we do accept walk-up reservations however we cannot guarantee availability on very busy days so if you are planning on an ATV trip it is recommended that you reserve in advance such that you know it is available when you want to go.

    SCAM ALERT! I have been riding sand dunes on and off for about 35 years, Pismo, Glamis. My kids…read morewanted to go out riding on Saturday, so we drove 2.5 hrs. to Pismo to ride the dunes. When I asked for the Polaris 1000, the lady at the counter asked me if I was sure I wanted the 1000 and not the 900. I told her I have experience and I feel very comfortable driving it. The vehicle we received was clearly beat up and run down. Zip ties to hold the trim piece, the doors wouldn't close to easy, driver side mesh shield did not have a way to clip it so it flaps as you are driving, major rust and paint pealing frame (I have pictures). About 30 minutes into our drive we stalled. Due to recent rain and fully inflated, non sand-pedal tires, we dug in the wet sand. I tried going in reverse and the gears grinded. All kids out, we started digging. We finally got the Polaris out but this time the "H" gear did not work, only the "L" gear. Check engine light was on as well as the steering wheel with exclamation mark light. I decided to drive the vehicle back to camp. Upon arrival I explained the situation and the reply was: "everything was working when you left here." I was treated like the bad guy and was even refused to get my receipt back, let alone credit for my time. It felt like this scam was very well orchestrated. Long story short, they are claiming I was responsible for destroying the transmission. Short of driving the Polaris full speed and putting it in reverse I have no idea how a transmission would suffer this much damage. I am glad I took pictures and videos and have already spoke to my attorney. This is clearly a scam to have clients pay for maintaining their broken down vehicles. They ruined our day and made us feel cheated.

We stayed at the RV resort across the road from the ravine waterpark, which had so many activities close by. I loved how they had all the extra kitchen supplies and even toilet paper and paper towels which I forgot to bring from home. The trailer was nice and clean, and a fantastic price for three days to rent! They even put out four chairs for us to enjoy. It was great having more time to have fun and relax, instead of setting up and taking down the trailer. We hope to use them again soon!

They provide a small table, two chairs, pots pans, and with the pandemic going on the trailer was extremely clean. They also provided sanitizing wipes and cleaning materials. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking to rent a trailer. We rented the smaller trailer for a family of five and we all slept very comfortable.
