I've been coming to Sun Wellness for 2 years now. As a nurse, I have high standards when it comes to cleanliness and clinical care and Sun Wellness consistently exceeds them. The practice is immaculate and you can tell the whole team takes hygiene and professionalism seriously. I started coming here to for my runner's knee and Achilles tendinitis and the results have been remarkable. Acupuncture has made a real, lasting difference in my recovery and day-to-day comfort. Every therapist here is skilled and attentive, but I have to give a special mention to Mandy because she asks great follow up questions at the start of each appointment and seems to hit the right spots every treatment. Great team overall though. It's been a great addition to my health. read more

Sun Wellness has helped me in way I never thought possible. They say when you hit a certain age women can get frozen shops or really bad pain in the shoulder. I had a bit of both. My mobility was poor and the pain was so bad OTC anti-inflammatories didn't work at all. So, I decided to take the advice of an old Vet and visit them for treatment. They've been very patient with my anxiety of the needles and have explained the process well including welcoming of all my questions. I love feeling relaxed and pain free after each session!! Wish I started this sooner! read more

I consider Acupuncture life saving because that has been my experience since I have been receiving acupuncture treatments continuously since 2009 to the present. I went to this practice expecting the best, based on the reviews but could not be more disappointed. I was surprised how cold and commercial it felt. They only work with a couple of acupuncture methods and Dr Lee sold me some herbs that when I asked what they were for she asked me to Google it. I went to 3 sessions to give this practice a fair chance but left disheartened at the rudeness and carelessness I experienced with Dr Lee during those 3 sessions. The whole experience was mediocre at best. Needless to say, I will not be coming back but sadly, this is making me rethink the concept I had about acupuncture and acupuncturists and questioning if this will continue to be the right treatment for me. read more

This team is the absolute best in the business, I feel so lucky to have found them. I came to Sun Wellness for fertility support and as I started our IVF journey. Dr. Sunyoung Lee was so caring and knowledgeable in the space of fertility acupuncture. She always remembered what stage I was at and adjusted her practice accordingly. Her and the entire team at Sun Wellness are fantastic providers and I felt very well taken care of, and the best part is now I'm 12 weeks pregnant! I truly enjoyed the holistic approach, and have felt better in many aspects of my health (not just fertility) that I attribute to their care. Don't hesitate to book with them, you won't be disappointed! read more

I felt so comfortable from the very first appointment I had over there. The environment is calming and the staff are super incredible, friendly, polite, and take care of you as if you were one of their own. I went there for a serious, rare condition that had occurred seven years ago and trying to my all types of western treatments and medications, they have made it happened where I noticed improvements just from a couple of sessions. Yes, it may take others see results noticeable earlier or later but obviously you can compare every individual to each other. It's apples and oranges, right? But I would put my confidence in them that they will do whatever it takes to make sure you see an improvement of your medical issue or in general. Most definitely worth it!! I'm so thankful acupuncture (the last treatment I would ever decide specifically for my condition) and the acupuncturist's that I get to work with are so loving and caring. Again, I am so thankful I went to get acupuncture performed, in addition to having great staff members to help me go through my recovery so supportively. read more

Great team. Very nice. Professional. Everything is good but I had trouble communicating my needs and being heard.

Sun Wellness has become everything to me and my wellness! I started coming in almost a year ago and have since come in for various different issues. I can honestly say acupuncture works. I can't say enough great things about this establishment. I'm a travel RN and I started experiencing leg pain from sciatica. It was so bad I couldn't even drive to work to finish my contract. As everything ended abruptly, I've lost my health insurance. A Doctor prescribed Physical Therapy, not getting enough relief I added Acupuncture to my regiment. I couldn't believe how affordable each session was. After just 4 sessions in addition to seeing a PT & Chiropractor I was walking normal again and back to at least 90%. I know the in and out technique they use help my painful, tensed back a lot. If you're out there experiencing sciatic nerve pain like myself, well there's a quick solution for you. read more

Let me just tell you, this office staff is amazing. I've been going here for a few weeks now (first time trying acupuncture) and yesterday during one of my appointments I began to feel nauseous. Firstly, as soon as I got out to pay for the session, the woman noticed right away that I wasn't feeling the best and sat me down and offered me water. Then another staff member came out to see if I was okay, to which I explained I was feeling nauseous. Right away, 3 of the staff members prepared ginger tea for me, and one of them said don't leave until I come back (to make sure I was okay), as she had another client in the room, and just relax. I told them I had to go to the bathroom, thinking I just need to throw up to feel better, they walked me to the bathroom and waited for me just to make sure I was okay. They even took me back into one of the rooms to give me a massage to help with the nausea. It was so kind of them to take care of me when they didn't have to. Overall, the acupuncture sessions have been great and have been helping a lot with my issues. The one thing I would say is, as someone with unexplained medical issues, I wish they would explain how the acupuncture is helping me specifically, and perhaps talk more about how my the acupuncture works specifically to my medical problems. Or suggest things to improve my day-to-day. I've always been poked and prodded by doctors without explanation and sometimes I feel that way during the sessions. BUT, my last session showed me how much they do care about their client's wellbeing. read more

Im a believer! Dr. Lee and the other doctors that work here have really healed my skin. I recently started suffering from eczema and after I went to my doctor and dermatologist and was only given steroid cream but no way to treat the real issue I decided to try acupuncture on a whim. It was the best decision I could have made and I really feel like we have holistically treated the issue with acupuncture herbs and diet. I feel healthier than ever with so much energy and a real boost in my mood. Dr. Lee provides so much wonderful support and is a true angel. Everyone here is so professional and kind. I cant say enough good things and im so grateful for the amazing care i received here when western medicine failed me. read more

Dr. Lee is a highly skilled practitioner that does her best to treat difficult illnesses. There is ample free parking in the lot for the facility and the practice is incredibly clean and inviting when you walk in. The beds you lie down on have a nice massaging and warm heat feature which is a nice way to begin relaxing prior to treatment. My mom and I both saw Dr. Lee for over a year regularly for chronic Atopic Dermatitis and vertigo/herniated disc problems. Dr. Lee always began the sessions asking how our bodies have been feeling, would listen and sharply make adjustments as necessary to where the needles were placed to address certain acupuncture points. She's very swift and precise when she places the needles so that it's not too unnerving or painful when they go in. At Sun Wellness, I experienced my first time getting auricular acupuncture, and it was an interesting new approach I'd never encountered at other practices. Dr. Lee also made recommendations for dietary and lifestyle changes for my eczema, which were helpful. Very high quality care, professionalism, and treatment here! read more

I have been a regular (weekly) at Sun Wellness for about five months now and I couldn't be more impressed with not just the results but the results but the professionalism of every single team member. Also a plus that they take insurance and highly recommend. :) read more

I came to Sun Wellness Acupuncture after needing more help with my lower back pain than 2 different chiropractors could give me. I never had acupuncture before and was not really sure what sticking needles in me could do, but I figured it was worth a try. Within 8 weeks my back pain was gone - it was due to a muscular issues that neither chiropractic medicine nor massage could fix, only relieve temporarily. I have been pain-free for over 5 months! Shortly after my back pain was fixed I underwent fertility treatments, and acupuncture was highly recommended, and it helped a lot. I am currently more than halfway through my pregnancy and all is well! Dr. Lee and her staff have vastly improved my life. Just thinking about laying down in those peaceful rooms drops my blood pressure and makes me feel calmer. read more

Let me just say that Dr. Lee is a miracle worker. I came in with a very severe case of sciatica due to pinched nerve and a herniated disk - I could not move, sleep, walk, or feel my leg. Traditional methods just numbed the pain so that I could function but did not do much else. After about 4 sessions pain was gone. I was even able to travel internationally. After 8 sessions numbness is almost gone. I feel my toes again and it's amazing! Dr. Lee has also been extremely helpful in recommending the diet to follow so that I can reduce the inflammation without having to take ibuprophen daily. It's a miracle! Thank you Dr. Lee! read more

Early October I was diagnosed with left sided "sudden hearing loss." I went to the ER and was given 2 1/2 weeks of Prednisone (steroids) which is the first line treatment for this diagnosis. Upon completion of the steroids, I had an audiogram which showed no improvement. I told by my ENT that my nerve in the cochlea had died. I was diagnosed with profound hearing loss and there was nothing he could do. I would not benefit from a hearing aid because with profound hearing loss -- a hearing aid -- would not be helpful as there would be nothing to amplify -- as I had no left sided hearing left. After I was told, by my ENT that there was no longer anything he could do, I could not accept the diagnosis. I called Sun Wellness has I had previously seen Dr. Lee and Dr. Choi months early for stress reduction. Sun Wellness is a professional and nurturing environment. Both Dr. Lee and Dr. Choi hear your concerns and recommend treatment. My first visit, 2 days after I was told that my hearing loss would never return, Dr. Lee and Dr. Choi told me that acupuncture could help. I must said I was a bit apprehensive that my hearing would return with acupuncture. After my first visit, I honestly felt no change. However, on my second visit, 3 days later--Dr. Sun and Dr. Choi decided that electroacupuncture would be a good option. This visit involved the needle insertion on my entire body. This time, it was supplemented with Dr. Choi attaching the needles that were place in my ear - to electrotherapy machine. This machine sent pulses through my left ear, and I could actually feel the vibrations. I honestly felt that my left ear had been awoken. I went home and said nothing to my family -- but i knew my hearing had improved. The next morning I said to my husband "my hearing is slightly better." I had an audiogram 3 days later, which was previously scheduled, and my hearing had improved by 70 percent on the left ear. My ENT was in awe and felt the acupuncture was the reason that my hearing was returning. He then scheduled consecutive audiograms 2x a week to monitor. With every audiogram my hearing improved. Please see uploaded audiograms first and last. Red graph is my right ear Blue line is my left ear. It has been 8 weeks after my initial acupuncture treatment and my hearing (left side) has now returned to my baseline-my hearing is now back to what it was before my hearing loss. I feel so fortunate that I can now hear as my life was turned upside down on the day I was told I would never hear again. My ENT has told me that he has since referred quite a few patients to Dr. Lee who he has had in his practice. I can't say enough about how grateful I am to both Dr. Lee and Dr. Choi. I will continue maintenance, once a month, to ensure that this never happens again. Please see below journal articles (which are hard evidence that electro acupuncture does work) as well as attached photos of my first audiogram vs. my most recent audiogram. As for myself, I can comment that if it was not for Dr. Lee, my hearing may have never returned. I cannot thank her and her colleagues enough. My life is back to normal. I came to Sun Wellness after an injury to my back left me in constant pain and discomfort. Their work was extraordinary and after a few weeks of appointments - each time getting better and better - I felt 100% again. Their technique is excellent and I have started using their weight loss program as well. My energy level is great and the bloating I was experiencing is greatly diminishing. The staff is caring and their office is run with great efficiency. I have referred several friends who are dealing with pain in their backs and joints. Highly recommend! read more

This is the first time I've ever reviewed something on Yelp other than a restaurant or hotel because Sun Wellness has been that important in my life. As you will read in the reviews above and below this one, Dr Sun Lee is a special healer. For me, having only once tried acupuncture before, she has been something of a miracle. I found Sun Wellness here on Yelp after being diagnosed last summer with a herniated disc and pinched nerve in my neck. It caused the most acute pain I've ever experienced - couldn't sleep, couldn't work, even with steroids and narcotic pain killers. The symptoms went on for weeks. I met with so many doctors. Tried my normally excellent chiropractor. Even met with a surgeon at the Brigham who told me the risks outweighed potential benefits. Nothing touched the pain until I saw Dr Lee. Here's what you need to know. Dr Lee is one of a kind. A truly empathetic healer who, I believe, has a natural ability to understand a patient's well being. She has an inherent way of sensing physical and emotional trauma. And she has the confidence and expertise to fix them. Dr Lee has also developed a unique and aggressive needling technique to repair injured or atrophied muscles. She uses it on my neck, shoulders and upper back, plunging long needles in and out of the affected areas. And while it's not always fun to experience, the doctor is steady, precise and has an amazing ability to avoid pain. The effect is like getting a shot of novocaine. I'm told this is not done anywhere else - and it's one of the primary reasons why I'm not in desperate pain right now. Three months since my injury, and just over a month of regular treatments at Sun Wellness, I'm now pain-free for much of the day. I've also begun regular PT and the acupuncture is helping me recover from some tough sessions. This may last many more weeks but it beats spinal surgery. And it's been amazing working with this doctor. I am genuinely better for knowing her. The office, just off the VFW parkway in West Roxbury, is attractive, quiet and clean. Most insurance is accepted. JM read more

I decided to seek out acupuncture treatments for severe hip pain about a week ago, and I was able to get right in at Sun Wellness. I was a little bit nervous when I went in as I didn't know what to expect, but was pleasantly put at ease soon after entering the building. The office is very nice, and we started intake right away. Dr. Sun Lee took a good amount of time to talk about my hip problems and history, before I was brought into a treatment room. Before the session started I laid on a heated table with massage features and a heat pack, so I was certainly able to calm my mind. The needles are not unpleasant, I could barely feel most of them! I can tell Sun Lee is a perfectionist, as after the needles are removed she instructs me to move about so we can find any residual hip pain, where it's coming from, and treat it. While my hip pain is still occurring (it's a severe long term injury, I was expecting less!), I do get a period of relief after the session which is a nice reminder of how a normal hip should feel! I'm looking forward to a couple more sessions and trying to make more improvement in managing my pain. read more

I cannot speak highly enough of Sun Wellness Acupuncture!! I started treatments there in November, for a broken foot. Not only did my pain subside after just 2 treatments, but my orthopedist was quite pleased with how quickly my foot healed. I am now training for the Boston Marathon, and am injury free. I really owe this success to Dr. Sun Lee and all her wisdom. I also struggled with vertigo and some reproductive issues. She has been able to help me take great strides in finding relief and healing. I have been to several acupuncturists over the years, with varying results, and never have I found a practitioner that is more competent, compassionate, or effective. Thank you Sun for your dedication and expertise!! read more

I have the Sun Wellness team to thank for my happy, healthy 6 month old son. My husband and I tried for a second child for over a year, and I was over 40 when I sought fertility treatment from Dr. Lee. Every week I received knowledgeable, compassionate, and professional care by the team. The day I came in for my weekly appointment with the news of my pregnancy was one of the happiest days of my life, and the staff seemed almost as thrilled as I was! I continued my sessions in order to support my healthy pregnancy, and though I had to give birth in the middle of a pandemic, I and my son got through it with no complications. I can't recommend this team highly enough. In addition to the results, the sessions themselves were nurturing and relaxing, the facilities were lovely, and they accepted my insurance. read more

After Dr Lee was able to heal my arm from chronic pain -- allowing me to play competitive tennis again -- I have come back to Sun Wellness for all sorts of ailments, from digestion problems to lower back aches. She has an intuition about where you have issues, which has really made me trust her implicitly. She recently recommended that I make myself green smoothies from cabbage, kale, fruit and organic yogurt in the morning, which is actually quite tasty! I look forward to every visit: I enjoy the acupuncture (sometimes it's so relaxing I fall asleep) and feel rejuvenated afterward. read more

I have been going to Sun Wellness Acupuncture for about a month now. I was able to get an appointment quickly and the hours are very convenient as I work in Boston (6 pm was my appointment). Excellent customer service was evident as soon as I walked in. The assistant/receptionist greeted me, gave me a questionnaire to fill in and then Sun Lee invited me into her office. Sun Lee reviewed my intake questionnaire and asked me what I was looking to gain and asked questions to get to know me. She listened to me and was attentive. I am pregnant and have nausea but after seeing Sun Lee I feel so much better, less nauseous and relaxed . Her office is very clean, she is welcoming, and I feel good. read more

After I few months I am sleeping better, have better digestion and am pain free! I only go in every so often for maintenance care now. I am most impressed with the care I receive at Sun Wellness. I started sessions almost a year ago to cope with stress, restless sleep, and general aches. It was my first time trying acupuncture, and Sun Lee was attentive to my anxiety and symptoms. She started me off with weekly sessions, and by five weeks I moved into monthly visits. Over this time, we worked up to using more needles on my legs & feet, hands & arms, head & face, and finally ears. Recently, I've had more pain in my neck/upper back, so I just enjoyed a session with stimulation focused only on these areas. Sun Lee has helped restore the flow in my body. I feel rejuvenated each visit - like a monthly tune-up! I appreciate that she asks me how I feel at the beginning of each session so that we can focus on particular problems. I also like the setting: warm, clean, comfortable, and unique. It is relaxing while healing, and I am hooked! read more

As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I knew I wanted to start acupuncture. I had read about the benefits of potentially preventing miscarriage, but I hadn't anticipated how it would affect my entire pregnancy. Between weeks 6 and 8 I was dealing with the usual morning sickness, food aversions and fatigue. After just two weeks of seeing Dr. Lee, all of these symptoms vanished - so much so that I was a little worried! I'm now 21 weeks pregnant with a healthy and steadily growing baby. I've been lucky to have a very easy pregnancy so far, and I attribute feeling so good to Dr. Lee. Although I could have stopped seeing her after week 12, I've continued to go 1-2 times per month and will do so until the end of my pregnancy. The beds have a massager and also the pillows have music in them, which helps with meditation. There's also a heating cove that is place either over your legs or trunk. It's too bad we are moving out of MA and will surely miss our acupuncture session with Dr Lee and Dr. Choi. Before I found Dr.Lee, I tried a few places by my work in Backbay and they charged almost double the cost and couldn't compare to my sessions with her. I've also had lower back and shoulder pain which she addresses at every visit - she has been so much more effective than any other treatment I've ever received.
