I've been coming to Sun Wellness for 2 years now. As a nurse, I have high standards when it comes to cleanliness and clinical care and Sun Wellness consistently exceeds them. The practice is immaculate and you can tell the whole team takes hygiene and professionalism seriously. I started coming here to for my runner's knee and Achilles tendinitis and the results have been remarkable. Acupuncture has made a real, lasting difference in my recovery and day-to-day comfort. I consider Acupuncture life saving because that has been my experience since I have been receiving acupuncture treatments continuously since 2009 to the present. I went to this practice expecting the best, based on the reviews but could not be more disappointed. I was surprised how cold and commercial it felt. They only work with a couple of acupuncture methods and Dr Lee sold me some herbs that when I asked what they were for she asked me to Google it. I went to 3 sessions to give this practice a fair chance but left disheartened at the rudeness and carelessness I experienced with Dr Lee during those 3 sessions. The whole experience was mediocre at best. I felt so comfortable from the very first appointment I had over there. The environment is calming and the staff are super incredible, friendly, polite, and take care of you as if you were one of their own. I went there for a serious, rare condition that had occurred seven years ago and trying to my all types of western treatments and medications, they have made it happened where I noticed improvements just from a couple of sessions. Yes, it may take others see results noticeable earlier or later but obviously you can compare every individual to each other. It's apples and oranges, right? I can't say enough great things about this establishment. I'm a travel RN and I started experiencing leg pain from sciatica. It was so bad I couldn't even drive to work to finish my contract. As everything ended abruptly, I've lost my health insurance. A Doctor prescribed Physical Therapy, not getting enough relief I added Acupuncture to my regiment. I couldn't believe how affordable each session was. After just 4 sessions in addition to seeing a PT & Chiropractor I was walking normal again and back to at least 90%. Let me just tell you, this office staff is amazing. I've been going here for a few weeks now (first time trying acupuncture) and yesterday during one of my appointments I began to feel nauseous. Firstly, as soon as I got out to pay for the session, the woman noticed right away that I wasn't feeling the best and sat me down and offered me water. Then another staff member came out to see if I was okay, to which I explained I was feeling nauseous. Right away, 3 of the staff members prepared ginger tea for me, and one of them said don't leave until I come back (to make sure I was okay), as she had another client in the room, and just relax. I told them I had to go to the bathroom, thinking I just need to throw up to feel better, they walked me to the bathroom and waited for me just to make sure I was okay. They even took me back into one of the rooms to give me a massage to help with the nausea. It was so kind of them to take care of me when they didn't have to. Overall, the acupuncture sessions have been great and have been helping a lot with my issues. The one thing I would say is, as someone with unexplained medical issues, I wish they would explain how the acupuncture is helping me specifically, and perhaps talk more about how my the acupuncture works specifically to my medical problems. Or suggest things to improve my day-to-day. I've always been poked and prodded by doctors without explanation and sometimes I feel that way during the sessions. Im a believer! Dr. Lee and the other doctors that work here have really healed my skin. Dr. Lee is a highly skilled practitioner that does her best to treat difficult illnesses. There is ample free parking in the lot for the facility and the practice is incredibly clean and inviting when you walk in. The beds you lie down on have a nice massaging and warm heat feature which is a nice way to begin relaxing prior to treatment. My mom and I both saw Dr. Lee for over a year regularly for chronic Atopic Dermatitis and vertigo/herniated disc problems. Dr. Lee always began the sessions asking how our bodies have been feeling, would listen and sharply make adjustments as necessary to where the needles were placed to address certain acupuncture points. She's very swift and precise when she places the needles so that it's not too unnerving or painful when they go in. At Sun Wellness, I experienced my first time getting auricular acupuncture, and it was an interesting new approach I'd never encountered at other practices. I came to Sun Wellness Acupuncture after needing more help with my lower back pain than 2 different chiropractors could give me. I never had acupuncture before and was not really sure what sticking needles in me could do, but I figured it was worth a try. Within 8 weeks my back pain was gone - it was due to a muscular issues that neither chiropractic medicine nor massage could fix, only relieve temporarily. I have been pain-free for over 5 months! Shortly after my back pain was fixed I underwent fertility treatments, and acupuncture was highly recommended, and it helped a lot. Let me just say that Dr. Lee is a miracle worker. I came in with a very severe case of sciatica due to pinched nerve and a herniated disk - I could not move, sleep, walk, or feel my leg. Traditional methods just numbed the pain so that I could function but did not do much else. After about 4 sessions pain was gone. I was even able to travel internationally. After 8 sessions numbness is almost gone. I feel my toes again and it's amazing! Early October I was diagnosed with left sided "sudden hearing loss." I went to the ER and was given 2 1/2 weeks of Prednisone (steroids) which is the first line treatment for this diagnosis. Upon completion of the steroids, I had an audiogram which showed no improvement. I told by my ENT that my nerve in the cochlea had died. I was diagnosed with profound hearing loss and there was nothing he could do. I would not benefit from a hearing aid because with profound hearing loss -- a hearing aid -- would not be helpful as there would be nothing to amplify -- as I had no left sided hearing left. After I was told, by my ENT that there was no longer anything he could do, I could not accept the diagnosis. I called Sun Wellness has I had previously seen Dr. Lee and Dr. Choi months early for stress reduction. Sun Wellness is a professional and nurturing environment. Both Dr. Lee and Dr. Choi hear your concerns and recommend treatment. My first visit, 2 days after I was told that my hearing loss would never return, Dr. Lee and Dr. Choi told me that acupuncture could help. I must said I was a bit apprehensive that my hearing would return with acupuncture. After my first visit, I honestly felt no change. However, on my second visit, 3 days later--Dr. Sun and Dr. Choi decided that electroacupuncture would be a good option. This visit involved the needle insertion on my entire body. This time, it was supplemented with Dr. Choi attaching the needles that were place in my ear - to electrotherapy machine. This machine sent pulses through my left ear, and I could actually feel the vibrations. I honestly felt that my left ear had been awoken. I went home and said nothing to my family -- but i knew my hearing had improved. The next morning I said to my husband "my hearing is slightly better." I had an audiogram 3 days later, which was previously scheduled, and my hearing had improved by 70 percent on the left ear. My ENT was in awe and felt the acupuncture was the reason that my hearing was returning. He then scheduled consecutive audiograms 2x a week to monitor. With every audiogram my hearing improved. Please see uploaded audiograms first and last. Red graph is my right ear Blue line is my left ear. It has been 8 weeks after my initial acupuncture treatment and my hearing (left side) has now returned to my baseline-my hearing is now back to what it was before my hearing loss. I feel so fortunate that I can now hear as my life was turned upside down on the day I was told I would never hear again. My ENT has told me that he has since referred quite a few patients to Dr. Lee who he has had in his practice. I can't say enough about how grateful I am to both Dr. Lee and Dr. Choi. I will continue maintenance, once a month, to ensure that this never happens again. This is the first time I've ever reviewed something on Yelp other than a restaurant or hotel because Sun Wellness has been that important in my life. As you will read in the reviews above and below this one, Dr Sun Lee is a special healer. For me, having only once tried acupuncture before, she has been something of a miracle. I found Sun Wellness here on Yelp after being diagnosed last summer with a herniated disc and pinched nerve in my neck. It caused the most acute pain I've ever experienced - couldn't sleep, couldn't work, even with steroids and narcotic pain killers. The symptoms went on for weeks. I met with so many doctors. Tried my normally excellent chiropractor. Even met with a surgeon at the Brigham who told me the risks outweighed potential benefits. Nothing touched the pain until I saw Dr Lee. Here's what you need to know. Dr Lee is one of a kind. A truly empathetic healer who, I believe, has a natural ability to understand a patient's well being. She has an inherent way of sensing physical and emotional trauma. And she has the confidence and expertise to fix them. Dr Lee has also developed a unique and aggressive needling technique to repair injured or atrophied muscles. She uses it on my neck, shoulders and upper back, plunging long needles in and out of the affected areas. And while it's not always fun to experience, the doctor is steady, precise and has an amazing ability to avoid pain. The effect is like getting a shot of novocaine. I'm told this is not done anywhere else - and it's one of the primary reasons why I'm not in desperate pain right now. Three months since my injury, and just over a month of regular treatments at Sun Wellness, I'm now pain-free for much of the day. I decided to seek out acupuncture treatments for severe hip pain about a week ago, and I was able to get right in at Sun Wellness. I was a little bit nervous when I went in as I didn't know what to expect, but was pleasantly put at ease soon after entering the building. The office is very nice, and we started intake right away. Dr. Sun Lee took a good amount of time to talk about my hip problems and history, before I was brought into a treatment room. Before the session started I laid on a heated table with massage features and a heat pack, so I was certainly able to calm my mind. The needles are not unpleasant, I could barely feel most of them! I can tell Sun Lee is a perfectionist, as after the needles are removed she instructs me to move about so we can find any residual hip pain, where it's coming from, and treat it. While my hip pain is still occurring (it's a severe long term injury, I was expecting less!), I do get a period of relief after the session which is a nice reminder of how a normal hip should feel! I'm looking forward to a couple more sessions and trying to make more improvement in managing my pain. read more

I have chronic back pain due to a herniated disk. Add the effects of working from home due to COVID and you have neck, shoulder and back pain compounded by the stress of COVID. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I knew I wanted to start acupuncture. I had read about the benefits of potentially preventing miscarriage, but I hadn't anticipated how it would affect my entire pregnancy. Between weeks 6 and 8 I was dealing with the usual morning sickness, food aversions and fatigue. I am most impressed with the care I receive at Sun Wellness. I started sessions almost a year ago to cope with stress, restless sleep, and general aches. It was my first time trying acupuncture, and Sun Lee was attentive to my anxiety and symptoms. She started me off with weekly sessions, and by five weeks I moved into monthly visits. Over this time, we worked up to using more needles on my legs & feet, hands & arms, head & face, and finally ears. My wife, mother in law, and I have been patients of Dr. Lee and Dr. Choi and are very satisfied with their treatment. The office and rooms are very clean and inviting. We never have to wait more than five minutes for our sessions and most of the time we never have to wait. Both are very professional and knowledgeable of their profession. The beds have a massager and also the pillows have music in them, which helps with meditation. There's also a heating cove that is place either over your legs or trunk. It's too bad we are moving out of MA and will surely miss our acupuncture session with Dr Lee and Dr. Choi.
