I want to give La Uno Taxi service in Beaumont, TX a good review. They were a lifesaver Wednesday…read morenight after the local Beaumont Transit (bus) service that I depend on for transportation decided to call it a night and not run the buses after 6pm because of the heavier than normal rains that the area had been experiencing. There was a short delay as they were experiencing somewhat heavy customer demand and they were unable to come immediately, but they did come and pick me up and deliver me to my residence ... This after I had waited at Wendy's on Dowlen Road in Beaumont over 2 1/2 hours waiting on a bus to come and pick up passengers. Thank you La Uno for your great service ... !~

Still very nice people and very clean room. I felt the shower head let me down with pressure and…read morethe towels were kind of thin. My husband said the mattress was still comfy, I couldn't tell because I now have neck pain all the time. The breakfast was less, probably because they didn't have enough guests to make the sausage and gravy, the crock pot was empty. Coffee, tea, milk, OJ, hot chocolate, oatmeal, bread, butter, jelly, small danish, muffins, 2 kinds of cereal. The coffee was burned tasting. Still an excellent value, especially if you book a week in advance. I like that the Chambers Co sheriff makes rounds. Good concrete parking lot. No highway noise. Good AC. Nice pool with water 3-5 feet deep. Chairs and tables around the pool. Chair for people with impaired mobility, to get in the pool. Lift the knob up on top of the gate and push the gate to get I to the pool area. They have a washer and drier for guests. Vending and ice machines behind the office.

I chose this place based on high ratings on TripAdvisor, and I'm really glad I did. I'm on a long…read moreroad trip and whenever possible I try to stay in more interesting, independent hotels and motels, as opposed to chains. For whatever reason, the people who rate stuff on TripAdvisor LOOOOOVE chains, but I find them to be often more expensive and less inspiring than independent places, and this place was no exception. The price for my room was super reasonable, check-in was efficient if not wildly friendly, the room is spotless, the bed is comfy, and my parking space is smack dab outside my room's door, which would probably be a downer for some people since it makes the rooms a little louder than the type that have their doors facing towards an internal hallway, but it's nice for me because I have a lot of luggage to shlep in and out. There was a large group of men standing around their pickups in the parking lot outside my room and making each other laugh for quite a while, but they were done by 9pm, and it was kind of cute - all those big, tough men in their dirty jeans and well worn work boots, chatting away and chuckling. Friends! My only complaints: The room smelled a bit like farts, but I think maybe the entire town smells like farts. I am assuming because of all the oil industry factories and stuff in the area? I have a yummy smelling candle and now it smells fine. A serious lack of outlets. In the year 2013, you really, really ought to have easy outlet access. Everywhere. Especially by the bed. I had to unplug a lamp and the clock radio to free up outlets for my phone and a heating pad (cramps ugh). That's it, though. Otherwise, the place was perfect and exactly what I was looking for.

The following morning, however, my companion and I were woken up by a nascent bedbug infestation. They were on us (which was disgusting) and clearly visible on the box springs. We left immediately and called the owner to notify him of the problem,l. Instead of apologising, he yelled and fussed and was generally in deep denial over the problem. I spent the rest of my trip treating my belongings. Beware.
