Only place to stay & eat in town. Older. Clean & safe. Limited hours for food & fare is average.

Anyone used the RV area of this property? Don't see any photos, either.

There are quite a few people using the RV area. It looks clean and nicely kept. It is behind the pool/gazebo/picnic area

Room was fine but some appliances were shoddy. Breakfast is typical, not bad but adequate. Staff was just fine. My chief complaint is the lighting. The large sign is currently unlit at night, and as the hotel sits way back off the roadway, it doesn't have the visibility of the neighboring Hampton Inn. There is a lit sign near the driveway, but someone ran into it rendering it useless. So I drove back and forth a couple of times before I spied the building in the dark. Fix it!

All of the staff I interacted with were pleasant & positive every time I conversed with them. The room was very clean and well taken care of. Everything was well maintained, except the below. The bed was comfortable and I slept very well. The negatives kind of grated on me at times. But considering how cheap the place was, it wasn't like I was staying at a Five Star joint, so you have to give the place a bit of slack. First, the AC was definitely "played with". No matter how cold you set it, it would run for 15 minutes and then stop for 15. It would NEVER achieve any temperature for long if it were blow 70 degrees. I'm convinced that it was set to just say F' U to any customer. The door between rooms to adjoin them was secure but it didn't keep out noise for ANYTHING. If you get one of those rooms, hope you don't get a noisy neighbor. The toilet seat was replaced and whoever was the maintenance moron picked up a local version that was plenty of sizes too small and then didn't secure it very well. Using it feels like sliding on a small skateboard across a bowl.

I stayed here years ago and I don't recall having any complaints, but on this stay I was royally…read moreunderwhelmed. Enough little aggravations to keep it from being 4-star and one glaring issue that knocks it down to two. All the pieces for a good experience are there. The staff were friendly. Check-in and check-out were smooth. The hotel was clean. The hallways were brightly lit and didn't smell. My room was clean and fresh with a good supply of towels. The exercise room was clean with nice new equipment. The parking lot was well lit and felt safe. The breakfast was only OK - better than most hotel breakfasts really - but hotel breakfasts are never great so no disappointment there. I got texts periodically from a lady named Megan, checking up on me to make sure everything was OK. Then the little aggravations began. There were no hangers in my room. Quick text to Megan got that resolved successfully. The heater in the room was Off and I didn't realize until later when I woke up freezing. Got it going but it never was able to get the room warm (temps in the 30s outside). Housekeeping did not make up my room after the first day. Texted Megan and was told that housekeeping only visits the rooms every other day. Not a huge deal, but I ran out of the little coffee pods in the room. Other hotels I stay at don't change the sheets and towels every day, but at least the housekeepers come in and make the bed and empty the trash. I get it, but it was unexpected and inconvenient. The batteries in the TV remote were dying. Probably should have asked Megan for some more but I didn't bother. The toilet would misfire more often than not and I would have to flush twice. The one glaring problem that I can't get over was the shower. ZERO water pressure. Maybe it's because I was on the second floor, but the water would barely dribble out of the shower head with no real force or flow. Temp was good - the water was hot enough - but no spray whatsoever. If there had been a tub I could have just drawn a bath, but it was a shower stall only. I -almost- asked to switch to another room but I was already unpacked and decided that switching would be a greater inconvenience. I managed to get little trickle showers throughout my stay, but I am so disappointed by this that I likely will not stay here again. But all the pieces are there. This hotel is really a solid 3-stars and could be four with some care and attention to the details. Get a room on the first floor and you might have a fantastic experience. My experience was poor enough to warrant only two.

I rarely give one-star reviews, but based on our 2-night experience in March 2026 this place…read moredeserves no better. While the public spaces of the hotel look good, the 2 guest rooms we saw had issues. Given the mix of glowing and bad reviews I saw on the hotel's own website I have to wonder if the place has some rooms that are much nicer than others. This LaQuinta looks nice on the outside and is located near several other hotels, including a Hampton where we've previously stayed. We may have booked this place because it has a guest laundry... but I don't recall. There are a couple of restaurants within easy walking distance but there are no sidewalks to get there. This hotel and others in the area seemed pretty empty on the weekend we stayed. This wasn't surprising given Winnie isn't a touristy area and spring break was ending. We could not get into the first room we were assigned. The key cards didn't work at all. After being reprogrammed, they still didn't work. The afternoon manager tried her universal key and couldn't get in. The second room we were assigned, on the 2nd floor, took several tries to get in. The key cards didn't operate smoothly. Once we got in, the room smelled very strongly of disinfectant. We could hear a crying baby across the hall. So this room was a no-go as well. At that point I asked for a refund and we were told the room was booked through a 3rd party. While I wasn't sure that was true, we decided to try another room. This time, the card keys both worked. The first floor room was quiet and seemed clean, but showed wear and tear to walls and the floor. There was an odor similar to the 2nd room, but a bit less prominent. We tolerated it, and the 2nd night seemed better. Fortunately, the king bed was comfortable. The nightstands in our room each had 2 110V outlets, and there were also outlets on the sconces above. There was an alarm clock on one nightstand. We neglected to check it, and it went off at 6 am on our first morning. The TV worked well, and the room furnishings looked relatively new. The bathroom had a tub shower. Liquid toiletries in the shower were older bottles of Dove brand, but there was no shower gel... just 2 shampoo bottles and 1 of conditioner. There was a small bar of soap for handwashing. There were no washcloths in the room. Flushing the toilet took several tries each time. Water pressure in the shower was poor, and the temperature varied. There were very few patrons in the hotel the 2nd night we stayed, so there's no excuse for this. The tub floor was slick, and the grab bar location wasn't optimal. Breakfast was included, but the hours were extremely limited, 6-9 am, even on the weekend. The selection was familiar: powdered eggs, potatoes, and a sausage patty... plus a waffle machine for hot items. Only regular coffee or tea (Bigelow) were available, plus orange juice. The breakfast area was bright and cheerful at first glance... with some obvious issues (see photos). It's been a long time since we've stayed at a LaQuinta, and it's likely we will not choose this brand in the future. This particular hotel is a victim of poor maintenance and should definitely be avoided.
