The big sign out front touts this historical hotel as one of the most haunted places in Texas...and believe me...it is! I wandered in on a whim, and the hotel owner came out of the office to ask who I was after seeing me touring the pink painted halls on the security camera. I explained that I was from California and had seen the big sign out front and thought I would take a peek. I have never met a more friendly and welcoming person in all my life! Mrs. McCain gave me the grand tour, and showed me many things I would have missed on just an unguided walk through. Riding through and realized I needed to stop, but if you have options, you should probably stay anywhere but here, doesn't seem like management wants your business. Stay somewhere that is well run and wants to accommodate travelers. I've served and been around the world and back again with the Army and out of all the places I've stayed, this management response is certainly unique in my fifty plus years! Reputable hotels all around, this isn't one of them. Probably best to avoid.

There is one big room with multiple beds that's perfect for families or just hanging out with bunch of friends. The Duck Farm is also available for gathering, receptions, birthdays, spiritual retreats, etc. We celebrated my mother's 88th Birthday in the main house and then decided to stay in the Bed and Breakfast. This was one of the best decisions of our entire trip. Next time we're in the Raywood/Liberty area will certainly be staying at the Duck Farm.

This place is horrid. Been here twice, stayed once…read more The first time was when my dad booked the room for me as I was coming in town for a family reunion. I could feel the nasty the second I walked in the door. It smelled stale and overall unpleasant. The shower head was covered in mold. I was done at this point. To try not to make waves I stayed the night anyways but didn't set foot in the shower. The second time was two years later and Sept 2016. Again, my dad booked the room and I didn't remember the place until we pulled up but even then I wasn't sure this was the same place. We checked in and I proceeded to my room. The same stale, unpleasant aroma was present. I went to the bathroom and though there was no mold on the shower head there were small dead bugs on the floor and in the toilet along with what looked to be dried mud from someones boots on the floor next to the toilet. I then checked for bedbugs which I didn't find but thought it interesting that the box spring was never removed from the plastic it was shipped in. I went back to the front office about 10 min after checking in and asked for a refund stating that it wasn't clean and we were just going to go somewhere else. The gentleman was nice enough and seemed like he wanted to help but then came Medusa from the back ranting and raving and being all kinds of loud. She seemed offended that we didn't like the room and actually took it personally. Then they didn't want to give me a full refund for two reasons...1) It was a non-smoking reservation and apparently its really hard for them to book the non-smoking rooms and 2) they had already swiped our cards and had be charge the swipe fee from the credit card company. I'm sorry but neither of those, as a consumer, are a concern of mine. I'm paying for something, I didn't feel that I was getting it and I wanted my money back. They settled on refunding us our expenses less 10.00 for the fee they incurred from the credit card company for simply swiping our card. As we went back about the refund and as she got louder I found myself matching her tone. As they still refused a full refund the police were then called to moderate as the lady was growing more and more agitated by us wanting our money back as she seemed to simultaneously embarrass the hell out of who I believe was her husband. The officer showed up talked to the people but there was nothing he could do as it was a civil matter at that point and would require small claims court. Not worth it for 10.00. It really wasn't even about the 10.00 in the beginning. It was about the principal of the matter. She even told the officer something to the tune of "Oh, the room is clean. There are some bugs on the ground but it is fine, I show you.". The officer couldn't have cared less about seeing the room and told her but the fact that she acknowledged there to be dead insects in the room AND that that met her standard of clean blew me away. Save your money and go somewhere else. We ended up at the Best Western in Dayton which was twice as much per night but thousands of time better than this rat hole. I wish I could go lower than a single star.

I recently stayed at Deluxe Inn because my mother is now living at the Liberty Health Care Center…read morenursing facility there. (FYI - If you have a loved one who is on a ventilator, there are VERY FEW vent units in the State of Texas, this being one of them. :-(. I live in the DFW area, and am going to have to make several trips to Liberty until Mom can (hopefully) wean off of the ventilator.) Anyway, the lady at Deluxe Inn was good to me. The room was clean and good enough to sleep in. Don't get me wrong, this is nothing luxurious, but it wasn't "ratty" either. I drove by a couple of other motels in the area before choosing this one, and they scared me. A couple of the ladies at the nursing home later told me that this was probably the best one of all of them. The one complaint I have is that it is across the street from the railroad tracks, and there were construction vehicles in that area, and one would occasionally (sometimes at night) blow it's horn, and it sounded like a train right over your shoulder. Otherwise, I will probably continue staying here until I find something better.

I build power lines and for the past 5 years I had to travel around a lot and stay in hotel from hotel and I never been treated this way before not before nor after to the point where I refuse to not tell my experience Before I start, I would like to state that absolutely nowhere no website or app in plan sight when I booked dictated that I need to bring a kennel to keep my pet in and I booked in advance where the could've even contacted me to let me know. To begin I just finished a 4 hour drive and I get to the front desk just to get told that I had to go spend my money on a kennel I didn't want nor have the space for in my car then These people here have no respect for privacy. The hotel staff blows up my phone while I'm working. To inform me that my dog is not in a kennel and that they can't change my towels to which I responded. There is a do not disturb sign on my door knob why are you in there just to get told apparently they have a policy where they go around walking to everybody's room every day to see what's in it I know this is a hotel, but I expect a certain level of privacy and security considering the piece I'm disappointed in this so called pet-friendly hotel I don't even lock my dog up in my own home this is 2nd time in my life where I had go out my way to write this just because every hotel I been to since has treated me and my best friend with open arms and kindness
