Cancelled my monthly contract as I have not used it in a year or so- employee was very rude. She told me I had a $10.00 balance left from my auto debit, asked her what is was for since they auto debit my account but she could not tell me.....I told her I would pay but wanted to know what it was for, I asked to have the Manager call me.....however she insisted that I stay and pay it- proceeded to tell me not have an attitude that she was sick and had been throwing up all day- KEEP IN MIND SHE DID HAVE A MASK ON working the front desk. She said her manager was aware she was sick but they were short handed and had to work anyway. To wrap this up, not only did she expose to me to God only knows what, I did NOT get a call explaining the charge and today Suntan City charged my card $164.97! read more

Cass and Kara are both Excellent consultants. They are always friendly, helpful and honest about the services and products offered. Mandy is also very good. They are the reasons I gave this salon 5 stars! If it weren't for these employees ( I'm not familiar with the new people ) my rating would be much lower. Been a costumer here for years, service seems to only get worse and worse. The worker today told me it would only be 7-10 minute wait, now have been sitting here for 30 minutes. Had costumers that came in way after me served way before me. I asked politely when my bed would be ready and she looked up and ignored me and I asked again in a more assertive way and she just simply replied "soon" with attitude. Not someone to normally complain on yelp but I believe it really was that bad. Please go anywhere else I will be cancelling my membership today. read more

Watch out for all the upselling!!!! The different tan options they provide are confusing and geared to tricking you into paying more than you should for a tan! Their advertising suggests that you can by a month of tanning without a commitment, but you actually do have to buy a membership before you can use it. They wanted to charge me over $50 for the $29.99 option "no commitment" option on their website (see attached). I walked with my money as I despise deceptive advertising. read more

*Update* After signing cancellation forms at this location weeks ago, I saw a pending charge pop up today. They charged me another month. After calling this location to sort it out, I was given a separate customer service line where I was left on hold for around 20 minutes. The response given to me by both the location and the customer service line was: (1) "We actually don't have any proof over here that you ever cancelled." and (2) "it looks like you have another month available to you to tan! We don't have the ability to process refunds." I have now submitted a dispute directly with my bank. ____________________________________________________ New to the area, and purchased a monthly membership to this location. Every time I visited I waited from 45 minutes to well over an hour to use a machine. While the machines are clean and staff are helpful, it's just doesn't seem feasible to frequent this business. Furthermore, even with an expected wait of one hour+, you are required to wait in the waiting room and cannot leave the building. read more

Love the girls who work here. Morgan is the best! They're always knowledgeable and tell me when sales are happening. HOWEVER, I have the instant membership and they only have ONE instant bed and I can hardly ever get in--even if I check in online! I consistently come on my lunch break-as that's the only time that works for me. That's the biggest complaint I have. read more

If you can go somewhere else to tan I definitely would. Just left and after being a customer of suntan city for 5 plus years I had the worst customer service. The girl who checked my friend and I out was super rude. I didn't get her name, but I definitely will not go back to this location. Sun Tan City had promotion of 20 cent tan. I was close to another location in Olathe compared to the usual location I go to in Merriam. They could find me in the system even after I show them the scan card on my app and all my account details on the app. So the Salon Director Emily told me to check in on-line. Well doing this on-line made the tan $15.40 and not 20 cents, but Emily said if I did that she would refund it. So I purchased. After I purchased I asked for proof of refund cause Emily said it takes a few days to go back on card. She printed a receipt, but when I looked at it was for a charge of $15.40 not a refund of $15.40 so when I questioned her she kept making up lies until she could see i was not going along with her lies and she call her customer service hotline to confirm. Once we were on call it was clear it was not refunded and she lied about the refund and gave me false proof of the refund. I asked her if I had not came back in I just would of not been given refund. She said no I would of caught it at end of night. But why lie to a customer tell them to buy something and you will refund then not refund it. So it gets better next day I get call from customer service cause they wanting to process my refund request that I made her call and get and she didn't even give them my correct card number to process the refund and I had asked her if I could give them my card but she would allow me to cause she said it was her company phone not my personal phone although we using the phone to fix my issue. So everyone cross fingers I do get the refund, but I would not do business with a company that lies, steals, and treats customers poorly. read more

AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I recently decided that I would like to start tanning so I called Sun Tan City and went for an appointment. I choose the $45.00 month plan which is a fast tan for 15 minutes. The first time I tanned I came out red like a lobster, but not hurting at all. I can tell you I'm from the coast, and I'm very use to tanning. The 3rd day I went back for a second tanning session, and when i was finished I asked the girl why I was so red, and not tan after 72 hours. She told me that the package I purchased, was designed to hit the "Reddening" aspects of my skin so looking like a lobster was the purpose of the bed I had chosen. Yes, to make you red not tanned! Ironic when you consider the name of eh place is Sun TAN City. You would think the person who sold me the package would have mentioned that. But, they all high school kids, and obviously the management / ownership aren't interested in training their people. AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
