I just started tanning here in April so my experience with Sun Tan City has been short. However, based on this short period of time I've been very pleased. The salon is very clean and the staff has been super helpful and friendly. I've read the other comments and yes sometimes there's a bit of a line. The salon is located in the busiest shopping center in Greensboro and not to mention it's peak tanning season. From what I've seen the staff works quickly to clean beds and get everyone checked-in. Also, yes the staff will try to sell you the bigger more expensive packages and their array of products. Just go in knowing exactly what you want and stick to it. Some of the things they try to sell you really are necessary while others are not. For instance, I bought the Instant bed package that comes with unlimited sunless tanning. Of course I bought a nice tanning lotion but when they told me I needed a lotion for sunless too I was like no thanks. Then one of my friends told me the sunless lasted a lot longer and went on more evenly with a specialized sunless lotion. So the next time I did sunless I bought a sample and she was right! read more

This place is a rip off. Service is terrible. Refunds forget about it. They'll take your money, but they won't do anything else for you. Do yourself a favor, save yourself that headache of driving to this place. Take your money out in the backyard and burn it in a pile. You'll be much better off for it. read more

Long time customer because it was super convenient but the mean girl attitude never ended.. I found a better salon with way nicer equipment for myself and way friendlier staff.. read more

I came in on Friday 01/03/2024 to get a spray tan and I had a good expierence. The women that helped me (I cannot remember her name I apologize) was a blonde petite framed women with a nice tan herself, and I ordered the Malibu bronze spray but accidentally received the Catalina clear spray. When I came back to the front desk to let her know I think I received the wrong color, she was VERY polite and professional about the whole thing. She had a good attitude and apologized right away and immediately got me into another booth with the proper color to spray again. We are human and accidents and mistakes do happen but when the staff is friendly and professional about it and makes immediate amends, it turns a small problem into no problem at all and I will come spray tan here again and would recommend this location to anyone in the Greensboro area. read more

I have went there several times, the spray tanning is not consistent. It seems like every time it's different even tho I've used the same product. The last time I went there I was told they do not accept cash. I will not do business with anyone that does not accept legal tender. read more

I am an employee at Sun Tan City and never tanned there before working there, but gosh i wish I did. The equipment is very easy to explain and top notch. My coworkers have become like family and I never feel like I have to handle any situation at work, good or bad, alone. I love how we all work together as a team to make sure our customers are satisfied first and foremost, and that our salon is clean for us and our customers. read more

Client time is not respected. Every time I go in, I am waiting for at least 20 minutes. I understand the employees want to spend time talking to each customer so they buy more (and earn commission from it) but customers and their membership money should be just as much a priority. Please keep this in mind when there are 5-6 people waiting to get helped. read more

I cancelled my membership in stores and was not told that a confirmation long story short my membership was never cancelled and i was charged double what my original fee was i will never be coming back here again this business lies to its customers read more

I had went here for probably 20 years. Recently past 6-8 months service started going down hill. I froze my account and was still charged and was told i didn't . Then SOME HOW my account was terminated and I go in to tan and find this out. I had to pay for a new member ship. Then i was told the fastest and the instant package were the same. I go in to spray tan and was told this information was not correct. So I had to pay for an upgrade. So I go a few weeks in the instant and spray tan and started using the fastest a few times. I go in and use instant and then was going to tan and i was told i did not have that package. THEN Sam totally disrespected me and called me a liar. At that point i told them to cancel my account and she would not do it. I will never go back there and i will tell every one i speak to about this crap of a business. In the past it was great. I don't know if it is the new managers or what but totally distrustful and to call me an out right liar. WOW... read more

$50 for a single visit spray tan. That is a joke! I can get a custom air brush spray tan for $15 less.

The girl that works there Charlene is rude and needs better training. I would not recommend going there. Any company that thinks she is suited for customer service is sadly mistaken. I never felt so unappreciated a customer. read more

I am tanning to get a little natural-looking color for my wedding and they helped me pick the package that would meet my goals. There are a lot of beds to choose from and the place is very clean. Just to let everyone know I just had to cancel my membership at Sun Tan City in the Greensboro location. One of their employees either gave my chain away to the wrong customer or stole my chain. I had originally called the day I had accidentally left it. They confirmed with me that they had the necklace and all I had to do was come in and get it. I had called a second time and they had reconfirmed it was mine. When I went into get it all of a sudden they do not have it. There has been so much miscommunication and unprofessionalism on their part. 1) They didn't enter in my information correctly and left my personal information on another person's cellphone. 2) They are giving me a run around and their stories keep on changing. 3) They said they pulled the calls and said the necklace they found that day could have belonged to someone else and that owner could have picked it up. 4) I said let's pull the calls when you guys said you had it and listen to it together. They won't let me listen to the calls with them now, but initially when I requested it they did. 5) They never originally notated when I had called the first and second time, or if they did they deleted it. 6) When I asked them to pull the security footage they said first it only goes back 2 weeks... and now when I just called they said it can go back 30 days. They said they are not responsible for any lost or stolen items. I told them that would be understandable if you didn't confirm already that you already had it. It was confirmed on a recorded phone line twice that your company had it. Just take accountability and stop making excuses for your employees either being thieves or giving my necklace to the wrong customer. Don't use that policy as a way to enable your employees to be irresponsible and untrustworthy. Just do not do business with them. Please repost and share. Thank you. I tried to be as patient as I can with them. My mom gave me that necklace. It means more to me than money. I ended up just canceling my membership with them because of the way they handled it. read more

I rate this place with only one star simply because of its cleanliness. The wait times and staff attitude are below par and certainly not competitive with other tanning salons in the area. This place is not worth the time waiting to tan. Every time I go, I have to commit at least an hour because of the lines and slow bed turnover. read more

I have been tanning here for almost 3 years and I love Sun Tan City. Very clean establishment with great promotions and an excellent staff. Their staff is always extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and takes their time to help their customers. There can be a bit of a wait in the summer(especially on spray tans), but its Friendly Shopping Center so that's to be expected. Their services and customer service is unparalleled. read more

Over the years I have visited many tanning salons. In the past I was satisfied with the service, knowledge and equipment that was provided at other tanning salons. I had no idea what I was missing out on. Finally, in 2015 I decided to visit Sun Tan City! I was hooked immediately! No other tanning salon can be compared to the amazing experience that is Sun Tan City! read more

I don't even know where to begin...I freakin hate this place. It was early March when I decided to go in for a tan to prepare my skin for spring break in Florida which was in a couple weeks. That day I was somehow was bribed into making a stupid membership and with the upgraded bullshit it was costing me $82.00 a month. Keep in mind I'm a out of state Studnet from New England. On my way back from spring break I get a email from my school saying we were being shut down and I immediately packed my bags and headed back north. During my road trip home I made sure to cancel all my memberships in North Carolina including this one. As it says on the website you may only cancel your membership through the website or at the salon itself. However I never created a profile with a login and password so I wasn't able to cancel via online or at the local store. Instead I called customer service and spoke to a lady who seemed to be nice and I explained my concerns and she said that it would be taken care of. Late September I come to find out that my membership was never canceled and that I was being charged for a membership that I never used up until now. I immediately called customer service end the lady was extremely rude and was saying how I could only get store credit which is ridiculous. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM! ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY! DONT BE FOOLED INTO MAKING ANY MEMBERSHIP OR ANYTHING! THEY SUCK! read more

It's about time I leave a review! I've been coming here on and off since 2016. Never have I had a less than stellar experience. I've laid in the beds which are always nice and toasty. However, the spray tans are my cup. Today I tried their newest spray machine The Norvell (did I mention they are always updating?) and I am super happy with the result. I Got such good results because my mains up front made sure t clearly explain to me how the process works and best practice for achieving my desired color. They also educated you on how to make the tan last the longest. For my WoC Who have tanning needs PLEASE MAKE A TRIP HERE! There is no stigma or that all too familiar awkward "why are you needing to tan" conversation. They offer their help and advice with a smile. Beyond that they are accommodating- I recently got my nails done and they were 2 steps ahead and made sure they didn't get stained or damaged. Also they are EXTREMELY transparent with their billing and pricing. read more

I was told it would be $20 a month. No one gave me paper work, had me sign a screen I could not see and now charged me $34.95. Amanda at the call center is very rude and refused to transfer me to a supervisor. They will not refund my money and want to give me a gift card for the facility in return. DO NOT USE THIS SALON. They are very misleading. read more

I've been coming here since last year and i won't go anywhere else! The girls are so sweet and make me feel like they really appreciate my business with them! Fantastic place fantastic staff!! read more

I went to the salon for a double dip. Angelina, the district manager in training, put me in a dirty bed. When I asked her about it, she told me she had cleaned it. She also mentioned three times the specific client that had laid in that bed before me. I took it as her way of rubbing it in my face since I don't see any valid reason for giving me that information. She then proceeded to talk about how that client was acting strange during his visit, she demonstrated how at one point he got in her face. She stepped forward and was within 2-3 inches of my face. Without a doubt, she was attempting to provoke me to become physically violent with her. I remained calm and gathered all of the information I could. I sprayed in the versa and then spoke to her again about the incident. I advised her to be more careful when putting clients into beds considering infections could potentially be spread if proper sanitation is not exercised. Not to mention it could lead to a lawsuit. This time she was unsure if she had cleaned the bed. She became extremely nervous and tip toed around the point. She apologized without making eye contact with me and didn't do anything to try and compensate for what had been done. read more

Make sure you get a copy of your commitment agreement and make sure that what you're signing for is really what Sun Tan City said you're signing for. Your "signature" is a finger print pad so you never see what you're signing for or actually seeing in print what you're signing for. It's all done electronically. I was told I was signing an agreement that I would wear protective eye wear and use tanning lotion while using their beds. However, I guess what I was signing was giving them permission to set up recurring payments. I paid for 1 month of tanning with a no commitment package on 10/19/17 and on 11/3/17 another charge for $32.99 was taken out of my account unexpectedly. I only wanted 1 month!!!!! I have not tanned at all for the month of November and the big ass joke of a corporate office will not refund the $32.99. Will never go back to this place. Sun Tan City is very misleading and a bunch of crooks in my mind. I'll be sure to share this review with everyone I can. read more
