I came for $5 spray tan week and they said they're at capacity and since they make you buy it on the app and use it the same day I asked for a refund and they said I'd have to contact client services and do a seven day process to get my $5 back and I said okay then i'll just leave and she said "bye". can you manager Heather is the worst? She accused me of lying about my name because I got married in my name changed. She made a huge scene. Twice I got in there, she is like a drill, sergeant. The rest of the girls are nice and hate her. I paid for services and she did not provide the correct service . Half of my body was tan and the other half was not. The sunless must be clogged or dirty or angled because both me and the person I came in with has the same issue . Only one sunless tanning booth works . And number 13 does not spray correctly When I showed her, she said she did not see it. Clearly half of my legs from my knee down was not Tan.. I asked another girl that was there and she said that she saw it clearly. It was probably because I was short . But Heather laughed and said I'm not gonna do anything about it. Their website and phone recording says they are open until 7pm on Saturday's and Sundays but I pulled up today (Sunday) at 6:30 and the sign on the door says they close at 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays and the door was locked. Garner, NC location is A W F U L. The girls do not have welcoming personalities & make customers feel as though we are a burden. There are no trash cans in tanning rooms...we have to carry trash from tanning packets/paper towels/disposable eyewear out of the room to find a trash can ? Not ideal. They show favoritism towards certain people Ex.--giving preference to beds before others, providing things like foot pads for spray tans to some but not others (me--she gave me nothing). Today I had been waiting for a bed to open up & trying to be social distance conscious, waited outside the salon. I called to make sure it was fine to come in & the girl told me sure go ahead and come on in! It was about 10 min til close, but keep in mind she TOLD ME to walk inside....then as I approached the door, she runs out from behind the counter WHILE HELPING ANOTHER CUSTOMER, and locks the front door right in my face. I was appalled. I said to her and the other employee "one of you guys just told me to walk inside". They looked at me, made comments to one another, & proceeded to pretend like I wasn't even standing there. When she came to let another customer out, I requested manager contact info and let her know that I was very offended by what she did, questioning why she wouldn't have just told me that it was too close to closing time today to let me tan. (Which seems wrong because 10 other customers came out 15 minutes after closing and she had no problem with them apparently). Her response was "well we close at 7:00pm & it's not my fault that you didn't arrive before then" FIRST OF ALL-it was 6:50. SECOND OF ALL-you literally said the words "COME ON IN" to me . So if this makes sense to literally anyone please help explain it to me because I can't make sense of it for one second. read more

Love this place! As a previous salon owner I look at many things from many views. I'm new in the area and of course, I had to check out the local tanning salon. I can happily say Customer Service has always been top notch from day one! Friendly ladies with beautiful smiles, who are always eager to help without being pushy. Very knowledgeable about lotions offered and the tanning equipment. I'm really impressed they ask every time about my eyewear. I'm even more impressed with the cleanliness of the salon. I have never had a problem with this place until today. My sister was just talking to me about how her spray tan was $24 AFTER the worker claimed it was $29-$35 and tried to throw products down our throats. And my sister is 18 and was wondering why it was more money. Then THE MANAGER interrupts our conversations and said "you are a adult and you have to pay adult prices" when we first of all weren't talking to her and second of all she didn't have to be rude about it. The staff are very friendly even during a very busy Saturday. The buttons on the bed were worn out so it was a little hard to work. I lucked out on parking but the lot is small so it might be a problem sometimes. However, they have teeth whitening which is unique and kind of awesome. read more

I was looking into becoming a member of this salon until the awful service I experienced. A friend of mine from out of state was visiting and I found an awesome coupon online for a free sunless tan for first time clients. I thought this would be the perfect afternoon outing for us and would give me a chance to try the salon on for size. The coupon (both on the website and the printed version) does not state ANYWHERE that out of state residents cannot use it so I certainly didn't think it was going to be this huge issue. The only restrictions were it could only be redeemed Sundays through Wednesdays. But upon us handing over our state driver's license (mine being WA due to military, her's being FL) they promptly told us we were not allowed to use the free coupons for new clients. I asked why and they said they "didn't want people from out of town just coming in and getting free tans".. I told them I'm sorry, but no free tan is worth driving out of state for, much less this far into the state. I could understand if we were on a state border but we're far from it. They then told me I should just go to the DMV and get a NC license like my WA state one simply wasn't good enough around here. Good ol' southern hospitality, hu? Since we drove from Raleigh out there I figured I'd go ahead and purchase a spray tan anyway while my friend waited. Well then the machine faulted (stopped working) half way through the second spray! Needless to say due to the service and faulty equipment I will not be going back and will be sure to refer my friends elsewhere as well. read more

I like going to Sun tan city, I have been to about 7 locations now across North Carolina and this is by far the worst. The customer service is awful and they are not welcoming at all. They did not accept a coupon even though their location was clearly stated on the coupon and did not offer anything to replace or discount another service. The workers have been rude and unapproachable in the couple times that I have been to this location. read more

I have been going to Sun Tan City in Garner/Clayton for about 2 years now. Before finding this tanning salon I visited almost all others in this area. This is by far the best of all. It is super clean, they have many different state of the art tanning beds and the staff are fantastic. They are very helpful and go out of their way to make sure you understand how each bed works and how to achieve the tan that you desire. They never "push" their products but are happy to take the time to explain the difference between the ones they carry and which one(s) suit your individual needs. I have been a member at the Garner, NC location for about a year. First, the staff is only friendly when they try and up sell their lotions, which is EVERY time you enter the store for the first 3 months. If you decline them they eventually stop asking but don't expect them to be polite to you after that point. Secondly, in less than a year the spray tan machine has been out of order two times. The first time it was out of order I could not use the spray tan machine for 3 weeks. I had to drive 45 minutes into Raleigh (I drive 2 hours to and from work, so this is not a favorable option). It is now currently broken and has been broken coming up on a week now. The machine has also cut off on me twice in the middle of spraying. Rather than wasting another 15 minutes getting to their store, I call now to see if the spray tan machine is working and get not only a rude "NO," but the same excuse that "we've called someone to fix it and they will be here soon." I anticipate this will be another 2 weeks before it's fixed. Don't attempt to ask them to adjust your monthly payment if you can't use their services. I'm not a fan of the tanning bed and is the reason I do sunless tanning, so there is no other service I can use. I was told they would review my situation and call me back. This was after my 2nd phone call to the store and I never received a response. I would not recommend this location to anyone. read more

The young ladies offer superior customer service and extreme knowledge related to tanning at the salon. I have been a tanning member for the past few years at this location. Great beds, unfriendly to rude staff. You feel like your at a car dealership with the way they push their products on you. Manager always frowning, but in her defense if I were 40 and worked at a tanning salon I would frown also. Dont bother taking your own products...if they didnt sell it to you then you cant use it..imagine that. Also there must be something awesome in the back room cause thats where the staff is always at....wouldnt it be nice for them to be at the counter and greet you as you enter. Its a shame, because its a nice place but the staff makes it a dump. For the prices they charge, I expect alot more....I would bet this is the worst sun tan city in the triangle....would be curious for owner to look that info up, I bet I am right! read more

I have been a member of Sun Tan City for about 2 1/2 years now, and I can not sing their praises enough. I have been to several locations, but most frequented in Cary and Garner. I have not yet been to a location where the staff was unapproachable or rude. In the 2 1/2 years I have been a member I have not once had a bad experience. True story. I have been living in Clayton for a year now and tan at Sun Tan City of Garner. These people are top notch; Laura and her staff are always so knowledgeable about products, beds, and never fail to inform me of the latest deals and promos. They've suckered me into buying more products than I'd like to admit...all of which continue to work fabulously! I am a military member, which requires me to leave town quite frequently for training. Whenever I need my account frozen for a month or so, the staff handles it in less than 5 minutes and I get a confirmation sheet. How seamless! Sun Tan City is by far the best bang for your buck. Their regular monthly rates are affordable, AND you get incentives like free tan weeks, discounted products and 1/2 priced tan upgrades. Beware....employees will lie to you about canceling your membership at the end of the first month. Just to get you to sign up. You have to wait supposedly at the end of the second month (a full billing cycle) before your allowed to cancel and then you pay full price. If a deal sounds too good to be true.....it is. They also are too pushy on trying to sell their products and some employees, not all, are rude! read more

I've gone to several tanning salons in the area, but enjoy Sun Tan City the most. The staff has always been very friendly and informative. I've felt pressured at many other salons to buy lotions, packages, etc...but I haven't gotten that pushiness at all from this staff. They do let me know the specials, which I really appreciate because a lot of times the specials end up saving me money. The staff is down to earth and very approachable and I appreciate that. I will definitely continue to tan here and tell others as well. read more
