This place is open!…read more In many ways, it is a classic convenience store with fruit elements, but to me, what sets it apart is the amazing plant selection! Really cute and well-priced succulents and cacti. Not to mention, these are not sad little plants. They're in good condition and they're not the varieties that you see everywhere. I believe there are flowers as well, but the potted varieties are the most impressive. There's a good selection, ok! Go there!

I don't have a car so I tend to stock up when I go grocery shopping but I hate running out of fresh produce. This place has a ton of stuff - lots of different types of lettuce, citrus fruits, seasonal fruits, onions, peppers, herbs - you name it they've got it. And you'd expect this corner store to gouge you for the convenience but the prices are really quite reasonable. I really recommend this to anyone looking for some fresh fruits and veggies. If you can't get to Dominion or Sobeys (or Kensington, which also has great produce) this is a great second choice! Oh and don't forget to stop and smell some of their absolutely beautiful flower arrangements.

GOT INSULTED BY CASHIER WORST EXPERIENCE!!!!…read more I decided to stop by this store for the first time in my life to buy a chocolate bar before my workout, with absolutely no negative expectations. I picked a chocolate bar and placed it on the counter. The cashier (an older Asian woman) told me the price was $6. I had initially taken out a $5 bill because that's what I thought the price was, so I politely asked her to repeat the price to make sure I heard correctly. To my shock, she snatched the chocolate bar out of my hands and told me that I didn't need to buy anything from this store. I was genuinely stunned by what she said and asked again to make sure I hadn't misunderstood her. She repeated: "You have no need to buy in our store. Prices are not what you expected." It was a terrible experience. I understand that she may have misunderstood something or made a mistake, but nothing gives her the right to insult a customer or effectively tell them to leave the store. I do not recommend this place. It's very disappointing that my first experience here completely ruined my mood for the rest of the day.

Bloorcourt Village Market is an institution in this tiny West side neighborhood. A few months ago…read morethe bad news came down that the family who runs this market would have to vacate their old store location, which was on the next block over. There was such a huge outpouring of grief that the family pledged to remain in the neighborhood. Their new location took a couple of months to open, but I will never forget hearing the news that the new place had finally taken the brown paper out of the windows and opened it's doors. I won't forget it because it was my birthday and my drunken exuberance was unleashed upon the unprepared stranger who gave me the news at around 1am at Disgraceland. When I eagerly entered the new place I immediately told one of the owners that I'd nearly developed scurvy without them. She laughed and said it was great to have such community support. The new store is smaller, possibly by half, but it is now more of a specialty produce and grocery mart. The old location had a lot of room but their nonperishable aisles didn't seem to move a lot of stock. The new location still features some of their old specialties, including a wide range of latino and asian cooking supplies. The produce is always great, with a focus on organic when available. They also have a few cooler cases with drinks and some perishable goods. If you're in the neighborhood, skip the Dufferin Mall nightmare and head straight to this great little store, the jewel of the neighborhood.

Located at the foot of Windermere, it's a small store that has people in and out frequent from open to close. They sell what you would expect; pop, milk, eggs, energy drinks, candy, lotto tickets and cigarettes. They also have a decent selection of grocery items down a couple of aisles. Be warned that prices, as it's a very small convenience store, run a bit high. You might want to double check the best before on anything like bread as well. General house hold items like tools are available too. Service is generally friendly, and you'll be greeted upon entering with a hello and a smile. The place is relatively clean, but you'll notice the age of some products, especially the cheap candy toward the front, may be older than the store itself. None the less, aside from the gas station down Queensway, this is the only place in reasonable walking distance to pick up last minute cooking supplies, or a can of coke after a hot walk. We're lucky they're around, but the area really needs more shops to go with all the condos sprouting up.

Tons of coffee beans, loose leaf teas (boxes too!), spices, nuts, tons of various raisins, chocolates, candies, condiments, fill-your-own bottles of olive oil, DIY peanut butter, etc. etc. There are some samples that are put out. The only reason why it's not a 5* is that: 1. YES, as per the other reviews, I did see customers "sample" from the bins. Not sure what the protocol was, but there were signs that just said to use the scoops; 2. Some items are left en plein air and there were some flies; 3. Similar to Bulk Barn, some items have a quicker turn-around than others. That's it!

Before heading over there, I like to get most of my errands out of the way, which includes getting groceries. The closest FreshCo by the movie theatre is this one on Major MacKenzie Drive, just west of Leslie Street. Why do I like this store? - You can earn Scene points on everything - Prices are decent, especially if you are targetting sales every week - The produce is fresh The only thing that can be tricky is that you do need a quarter to use the cart. I sometimes have change. I sometimes don't have any. I have had a quarter once out of my two times shpping here. I ended up using a basket when I didn't have any change, which was fine. I only needed a few items. The produce is excellent. I had the best strawberries here. They were ripe and in pristine condition. The celery was in great condition too. The apples in bags are also competitively priced and are yummy. The only downside that I saw were eggs in cartons. Many of them were broken. I don't know if it's due to customers or if the eggs were broken in the first place. It was a bit of a downer trying to find a decent dozen. I was unsuccessful and ended up getting a carton at Shoppers Drug Mart. I like the frozen food section. The more carbs involved, the more interest I have. I have had the paratha stuffed with potatoes and plain ones. Both heated up so nicely in a hot skillet. I've also had garlic naan, which was perfectly yummy. I've had the pork and chive potstickers. They were excellent, too. I've seen steamed buns that I'd like to try next. Prices seem to hold for weeks. The Pillsbury Pizza Pops have been at $3 for a box of four when you buy three boxes. You save practically two dollars per box and take advantage of getting the Old El Paso beef and cheese taco, which is excellent. It was this price both times that I was there. I hope that the deal is still around. The cereal aisle is cool. I have seen everything from strawberry milkshake Frosted Flakes, to Cinnamon Toast Crunch Minis. I like variety and seeing what sugary flavours are out there. I've had friendly cashiers at this grocery store. Getting my Scene barcode on my phone scanned has never been an issue. I've also paid with a credit card both times. Easy peasy. It's a clean supermarket. The parking lot does get a bit busy, but I've always been able to find parking. (202)
