I ventured to Brazil one weekend morning and was looking for a breakfast spot. Sun Rise was recommended heavily on yelp, so I decided to try it. It was a bit of a challenge to find - maybe my GPS was having a problem. It's on the main Street, but I was directed just past it. I had to make a couple weird turns to get back, but I don't recall seeing a big sign with the name on it. I went in and saw some people ahead of me go sit down, so I did the same. Apparently they were "regulars" and could do that... but I got a bit of a look when I sat down. The server was nice and I apologized... not sure if it mattered or not. I asked for recommendations and was told the skillets were good, and some other items - but I wanted to try the biscuits and gravy. The server said they were good, and I probably should have paid attention to her recommendation. I got a half-order of B&G, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes and sausage patty. * B&G were okay. Missing any crumbled sausage in the gravy. Biscuits were much to describe. * Sausage was like a McDonald's patty. * Eggs were very good and hot. * Potatoes were good - not as crispy as I like, but decent. The water I had seemed to have an odd taste, as did the coffee. Maybe it was a local thing. I was in-and-out in under 30 minutes. Service was good, and the restaurant seemed full of locals. I sat near the kitchen area, and there was a lot of back-and-forth yelling/talking among the staff and patrons. Overall okay... but it wasn't the best breakfast I've ever had. The locals seemed to really like it, so maybe I had an off-day experience. Next time I go to Brazil I'll try something different though. read more

This building has been a landmark of Brazil for decades. It's a traditional diner with some great choices on the menu. Breakfast/Brunch is a "go to" on a Saturday late morning. I believe they serve breakfast all day. Our server, Jana, is super-friendly and likes to gently joke with all patrons. She is efficient and makes sure everyone is satisfied. There is no reason to leave hungry. Portions are plentiful. Food comes out fresh, hot, and flavorful. Desserts in the cooler look delicious, but haven't tried them yet. Look around and you might see a nifty little diorama of the original drive-in. Good stuff!! read more

This diner exceeded all of our expectations! The food was awesome (great portions, too), the bathrooms were clean, and the coffee was hot. There is no "kids menu," but the special was easily split by two of our kids (French toast, eggs, meat). Our server was attentive and kind. This is a jewel in the rough of Clay County. GREAT FOOD!!! I enjoy the unique country fare. Today I had a Farmer's Omelette (ham, onions, peppers, hash-browns, sausage gravy and cheese). THE best omelette I've had in years. So good I'm considering coming back here for lunch so I can have another! Whitney did a great job keeping our coffee cups topped off and anticipating our every need. The one suggestion I have is to wrap the outside of the air conditioners when they are not being used. This morning we got to experience fresh air flowing in near us as we enjoyed this awesome food. Sorry the photos weren't taken prior to tasting the food! We stopped in for breakfast after a visit to the town. We were immediately seated by a cheerful gal with holiday lights headband. My husband banters, so it was a pleasant exchange. We were waited on by Silca. She was very attentive. The food came, and looked very pleasant and tasted great! I had the veggie skillet (no peppers) and my husband had her choose between the Greek and Farmer's omelette. The Farmers omelette won out. My wife and I brought our granddaughters to dine here after spending the morning at the Exotic Feline Rescue Center. The restaurant has a classic small town restaurant look without a lot of attention to atmosphere. The focus is probably meant to be upon good food and service. Unfortunately, both areas were just okay, maybe a bit lacking when compared to other similar style places I have dined. We were greeted promptly and shown a table even though the place was pretty busy. After placing our orders, we were a little surprised that it took about 25 minutes to get our meals, especially since the girls ordered hot dogs and french fries, my wife ordered a salad, and I ordered a tuna salad croissant. I am not sure if they were just backed up from other orders or just slow on bringing the items out. The quality of the food was average. Not bad, but definitely not as good as what I make at home. My wife's salad had lettuce that was nearly frozen. The items lettuce and other items were served in large pieces that meant the salad, served in a deep bowl, required cutting with a knife or spearing and biting the items. Seems like they cut corners on making the meal customer ready. My tuna salad was very plain. Although the croissant was tasty, the tuna was missing any secondary flavor like celery or sweet pickles which could provide crunch or interest. There were some lettuce leaves and a tomato slice along with dill pickles, but the dill flavor didn't work with the tuna. My wife also ordered a root beer float and although the serving was large, it had a single 14 cup scoop of ice cream which was not that cold and disappeared rapidly. The girls didn't think their vanilla shakes tasted very good either and left over half their shakes behind. Although I didn't personally sample each item, I could tell that my guests were not enjoying their experience. I guess it was just disappointing after reading so many positive reviews. Waitress was great. Food was ok. Inexpensive. Upsides: varied menu, but vegans stay away. Comfy. Downsides: they have no real butter, just the Land-of-Lakes flavored vegetable oil masquerading as actual butter. Somewhat varied selection of tea; there is a hint in this statement. I had the Western omelette with wheat toast, and it was delicious! The omelette was big and full of flavor. The wheat bread was toasted perfectly and buttered just right. Our waitress, Diane (I believe was her name), was very friendly and helped with patron favorites of the menu. We were greeted when we walked in and thanked before we walked out. Recommend!!!! Stopped in after a day of Covered Bridge and camping at Raccoon Lake. This place was EXACTLY what we were looking for! Huge servings of real breakfast food, super attentive wait staff and great coffee! This place is a true American diner. Not going to lie, I worked here for a total of two weeks. In my time there I was told if you can get away with overcharging customers, you should. The owner is a nasty and hateful man who is very rude to employees. And they have had bugs for years in the kitchens. read more

We wanted a break from the typical interstate exit restaurants and made the short drive into Brazil for breakfast. The Sunrise Family Restaurant is the place to satisfy your Midwestern hometown breakfast place desire. The a/c required us to retrieve our jackets (evidently the thermostat is near the grill). This no smoking, seat yourself diner gave us prompt service and fresh hot coffee as we were seated. The breakfast menu is extensive and prices are very reasonable. Servers are friendly and polite. Very clean and neat dining area with carpeting. Food is very good. Eggs were cooked correctly per order. Sausage gravy and biscuits very good. French toast and bacon very good. Coffee cup was kept full and hot by excellent server. Would rate this hometown diner with five stars if the a/c was not so freezing cold. read more

myself and family have dined there for 16 yrs,and really,never a problem until saturday morning feb 23 2019 when we arrived,received our drinks and in less than 30 seconds we were told to leave by a very rude arrogent manager.the problem isnt relevant here,what is relevant is the manner in which we were treated by this woman manager.this situation couldve been done alittle more tactfully,and in a private office,instead,that manager just blurted out the thing for the entire dining room patrons to hear,RUDE RUDE RUDE.myself and my daughter are both classified disabled through social security,and are protect from discrimination by the americans with disabilities.the department of justice will be contacted,and sunshine family restaruant,employees working at that time,the manager,and owner shay ajroski will be sued by both myself and the dept of justice under ada,and i will effectively close that establishment permanently read more
