My muscle tightness was the result of walking the weekend under hot weather and sitting long hours working and watching from a chair. I haven't been exercising for awhile because I'm exhausted from work. Off to the acupuncture clinic to fix my thighs and legs. First step, I get an acupressure massage to relieve some of the tightness before the cupping. Once the cupping was done, then the needles came. Needles are fine and they don't hurt. Just a prick. At the end of the session, I saw how dark the cupping circles were. My acupuncturist was surprised how bad of a shape I was in. We scheduled an appointment for the following day, where I met Dr. Sarah and Dr. Deborah who were very professional and spent half an hour pinpointing locations that I had issues with. During this period, Dr. Sarah treated my neck which led to a burst of tears, not from pain but from relief. I'm not sure if they realized at the time, but they continued the treatment and after putting in the last needle, I felt a HUGE wave of emotions that I've bottled over the years from fear and I couldn't hold back the tears anymore. And RawASF which I will need to try. First timer for acupuncture! When I walked in, you can smell the herbal medication in the office. 2 ladies at front desk. Wrote name on clip board & filled form, advised to wait. I don't speak Chinese but all staff and patients do. Saw several people, come in, walk out , go in to back exam rooms while I waited. At least 10 15 minutes then I was called in by female, who did quick assessment on my intake form I filled out at front desk, then advised me to remove top and put gown and leave pants on. Male dr? Came in, assessment & vitals done , reviewed my medical form I filled out then said to lie face down on massage table, said he's going to place needles in certain areas and use heat and stimulation to back, My ailments were plantar fasciitis to Left foot, low back pain. Had acupuncture and cupping for the first time this evening for chronic migraines. The office lobby…read morewas warm and inviting when I walked in. There was no one at the desk at first, but one of the acupuncturists soon came out and checked me in. She showed me where the restrooms were, asked me to take a seat and said my acupuncturist would soon be with me. My acupuncturist asked me some health questions in the private room where I was to have my treatment. She listened and didn't dismiss anything I said like my regular doctor often does. Then she explained where she would be inserting the needles and why. She also went into detail about what I could expect during the session, which I appreciated. Most of the needle insertions were painless, but a few hurt a bit. The pain went away quickly. The acupuncturist turned out the lights and left the room as I laid on my back on the table with the needles in me. I couldn't feel them as long as I didn't move. I'm not sure how long I laid there, but it was very warm and relaxing with gentle music playing. I almost fell asleep. I had a button I could press if I needed help and the acupuncturist checked on me a couple times. She removed the needles and then had me rollover on to my stomach for cupping on my upper back to help with pain relief in my neck and shoulders. After the session my migraine was gone and my neck and shoulder pain had decreased. I made several more appointments and look forward to them.
