I went in with my family to check out the gym only to be greeted by a very dismissive front desk staff. The two staff members were not welcoming toward us and seemed bothered by even the simplest questions. Instead of taking a moment to explain things, they told us to "refer to the pamphlet," shutting down any attempt to clarify what we were looking for. For a place that's supposed to promote health and community, the lack of basic courtesy was really disappointing. First impressions matter, and this one made it clear that customer service is not a priority here. I won't be joining. read more

I had my daughter first birthday here and they did great. Miramem and Marchella were both very friendly and so helpful to myself and party. We had a wonderful time. The build a buddy was a lot of fun decorating the shirts and stuffing the animals. All the kids enjoyed it. They even got us extra tables and chairs. They accommodated everything we needed. Summit on the park in Canton is one of the worst city gyms in Michigan. If any machine is not working, it takes 3-4 months to repair or replace. The Aquatic area was closed for 5 months for renovation last year and they spent $2.5M for cosmetic changes like tiling, paint etc with no benefits to the members like expansion of the pool, sauna, Jacuzzi etc. In fact, even after 5 months, the Steam room is still under repair!!. In contrast, the Ann Arbor, Livonia or even Westland city gyms are much more bigger, better and value for money. If you are thinking of buying a membership, its better to go to Lifetime in Canton or Livonia which is more fees but 10 times better. read more

I enjoy going to the Summit on the Park.                 There is a great water park out back for the kids.  There is a wonderful wooden structure playground.  It will need to be updated soon but it's an adventure.                 The pool in the building and the workout room and the other offerings in this center are an essential part of the local community.  The banquet center is very nice and suitable for activities as weddings and public meetings.  Their support team for the rooms is first rate.   Booking is swift and easy.  Support happens from the beginning all the way to the end of your experience.  Very nicely done.                 I appreciate their lighting, sound and other technologies when I am having an event at this location.                 The media staff is experienced and helpful.  If you are going to use the kitchen areas yourself they are kept clean, neat and well stocked with the materials and equipment that you need to make any event a success.                 This location is fairly easy to get to and directions to it are easy to follow. read more

I've loved everything about the Summit so far. I've planned a company year-end party that was held there and attended a wedding reception at the banquet facilities, and now I'm more frequently found on the other half of the building. My daughter and I took a swim class at the pool, an exercise class out on the walking paths, a music class that was in one of the conference rooms, and now we're in an exercise class that meets in one of the gyms. In addition to the services I've utilized, there's also a full gym and child care room for members. Although we aren't Canton residents, our community doesn't have anything so cool, so we just might have to pay the extra money to be members. read more

We have come here for two years since moving to Canton for the second time and the Summit on the Park is the best community center/gym/pool place we've ever joined. The exercise equipment is clean, decent condition, the gym is good, racquetball looks good, and the pool is perfect for little kids and lap swimmers. Probably a little boring for older kids but the slide and lazy river is great for my toddlers to make a full day at the indoor pool The classes which are included in membership are also of good variety and quality. Zumba is always packed and other stuff like Aerobics and Spin are typical but nothing too crazy. Kids watch is a good feature- not big but the girls in there are paying attention to the kiddies and are perfectly capable of handling a dozen or so kids. The only drawback is the price- it definitely is costlier than the Fitness Planets of the world but you do get what you pay for if you use it regularly (like 3+ days a week), and take advantage of more than just the gym. They also do have free Wi-Fi, plenty of parking as long as there isn't a big event going on like Trick or Treating or Daddy Daughter Dance, and the Senior Center is in there too. Overall a good place. More people would probably join/benefit if the price was lower, but what can ya do. read more

My home away from home. It's clean. It's very well maintained. I use it strictly for exercise/fitness purposes. If you have nothing to do during the day, I suggest you look into the matinee membership. For Canton residents it is 92.50 for 6 months as long as you enter before 4p. Unsure about non-residents. There are basketball courts, fitness classes, a racquetball court, pool, indoor track. It's got it all and the price cannot be beat. Sometimes I wish there were a few more non-treadmill cardio machines, but it is rarely an issue. The weight machines and free weights are serviceable. You probably do not get the variety that you would get at a much higher-priced gym, but for anyone who is not a professional bodybuilder, this place will be fine for you. read more

Summit is a nice - family friendly - place. I certainly feel it is great for the crowd who likes recreation and a workout - but is not trying to compete for the next USA weightlifting title or attempting to use the facility for picking up the opposite sex. They have a very nice pool area and a lot of activities / teaching for children. The exercise areas are moderate size and appropriate. Standard size basketball courts for this type of facility. Only a couple of racquetball courts. The premise of the facility is certainly family and providing ancillary activities beyond just your bench-press. If you are looking for a heavy hitting Gym - you should probably head down the road to something more commercial. I would say the center can be a bit pricy. Especially for non-residents. Which is a bit of a disappointment. You will most definitely find better overall deals at other community centers in the metro area. With that said - the facility is very clean, classy. Has a really nice connection with the outside environment with the many glass windows and how the pool butts up to the outside pond. There is daycare on onsite, a senior center, and (I believe recently) they built a really nice outside activity play area for children too. Canton has a lot of community events through the year that connect to the facility as well - so overall it blends nicely. read more

The pool and steam room are my favorite places here. I spend a lot of time here taking aquatic classes. After class I continue to workout in the pool. Some aquatic staff isn't friendly but Lisa is. She teaches classes as well as being a lifeguard. Front desk personnel is friendly and very helpful. I'm considering a land class or two. Something for everyone. read more

My g/f and I did the free one week trial but ultimately decided against it. While the price isn't bad - clocking in at just over $5 the competition chains like Planet Fitness etc - the fact that there is no option to bring a friend without paying a fee based on where they live (whahuh?) is most unfortunate. Even if you have two memberships, those memberships are for the two of you alone. If your partner didn't want to go that day, you couldn't bring a friend to sub in for the day. This is most unfortunate and really limits us in a way the competition doesn't. Otherwise this is a nice and clean facility with friendly and knowledgable staff. read more

It's a super clean. It's also super busy, at typical hours...say, 5 or 6. It's limited on equipment but it's all legit, and fully functional. I never see a machine 'out of order'... I just wish it wasn't so busy. It would also be nice if you could swim whenever you wanted. You have to go according to a schedule. read more

We live in Canton, and do the punchcard for my family, which is $5.00 per person. Nice pool, but recently they've gotten a bit silly about the rules. They insist that a parent be in the water with any child who cannot pass a very challenging swim test. My six year old can stand flat footed in the deepest part of the children's pool, and with no less than eight lifeguards circling the pools, it seems silly to expect me to stand knee deep the whole time. I imagine this rule makes it very difficult for moms with 3 or more children eager to swim. I agree with some other reviews that the onsite daycare isn't great. First, the hours are VERY limited, and I've rarely seen any children in the room. Friends who go to Lifetime in Canton rave about their childcare. All in all, a nice pool and center. Another reviewer mentioned the open gym limitations. The gym is always packed, so I think they schedule a lot events, making it tough to just walk in. read more

I just held my wedding reception at the Summit on the Park banquet center. I looked all over the metro-Detroit / Ann Arbor area for possible reception cites (we visited over 15 different reception locations). The Summit has a gorgeous ballroom with a very high ceiling and an additional grand lobby. The staff are very helpful, and the cost was on the lower end for weddings, so we were able to add hors d'oeuvres and a chocolate fountain without breaking our budget. The outside environment is beautiful. The facility is surrounded by grass and ponds and trees, unlike many of the other locations we looked at. Our ceremony took place at the Heritage Park Gazebo, which is also owned by Canton City (same as the Summit), so they waived our cost of using the gazebo. The gazebo area is beautiful, surrounded by willow trees next to lovely ponds. It is, however, right across the street from the Canton police department, so there are some random buildings that break the scenery. I think our choice of holding our wedding at the Summit on the Park couldn't have been better. Everyone thought the location was great. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that the food was respectable, but nothing to jump up and down about. This may be because we chose the cheapest main entrees, and they do not offer food tasting before the event (the hors d'oeuvres and chocolate fountain were excellent, however). Even so, I would not have chosen a different location. The Summit was overall fantastic. read more

Great fitness center with reasonable rates. Well maintained and clean equipment, lots of treadmills and eliptical machines, although there may be a small wait if you come after 5 PM during the work week. The cardio machines are limited to 30 minutes per person. Good selection of ab, leg and arm workout machines as well. They seem to have a number of aerobics class offerings, but I have yet to participate in one. The pool also looks nice for either swimming laps or bringing your kids to play or take lessons. read more

We used the Summit Banquet Center for our wedding in June 2010 and I would highly recommended it to others for weddings and other catered events. Their pricing is phenomenal, the ballroom is spacious and decorated with bland colors (tan walls with brown banquet chairs) which coordinates with many color schemes. The dance floor was huge and the lobby area was also enormous and well decorated. Bathrooms were clean and conveniently located. The main contact person we worked with was Emily Lee and she was professional, prompt, and organized. She worked out our entire reception schedule in a flash and worked out details for our live band, wedding party entrance, and vendor arrivals without issue. The food selections were standard for wedding menus but they can customize more than other places we looked at. We were originally going to go with a Filet Mignon but the the chicken dishes we tried were so AMAZING and far above the usual quality of banquet hall chicken selections that we went with a chicken selection which saved us tons of $$$. We upgraded the salad and kept the standard bar which was sufficient for our purposes and we had kids meals which our younger guests also enjoyed. The presentation of the food and hors d'oeuvres was also phenomenal. The ballroom has floor to ceiling windows which is great for natural light but terrible if you pay for or bring in specialty lighting. They also kept the lights turned up the entire reception which we were bummed about. The only real negative feedback I have for the venue is that you are not allowed into the ballroom more than a few hours before your ceremony so for us that put a huge stress on the day of the wedding to get things done in time since we DIYed pretty much everything (many other places gave more time and some even allowed access the night before) also, we paid for AV equipment for a slide show and were not told that the set-up did not work for a Mac computer (I specifically asked what we needed to bring and this was never brought up), so the slideshow we worked so hard on couldnt even be played. All of the staff during the reception were phenomenal and the venue was as elegant, beautiful, and spacious if not more so than many other more expensive hotel banquet halls that we looked at. I would have another event here in a heartbeat! read more

i went to the Summit Aquatic center after not being there for about fifteen years. It seemed to me that the place has not been updated since they opened. I decided to take my one-year-old and play in the kid's area, which was fine but dated. there was a barrier for the bottom of the slide that was a net that was all ripped apart and pieces were floating in the pool. the pool tile's grout was moldy. The locker rooms were pretty gross. it looked like they never even wiped down the lockers themselves. the carpet looked old and dingy in the hallways, which i guess is ok, but it just kind of added to the grossness of the place. as i was leaving i went to take a shower but did not because the shower are smelled strongly of urine. they have a window looking into the pool area where an old men sit in chairs and watch the swimmers. i felt gross leaving, and i won't be back. read more

We enrolled our child in the "just you and me class". We had been bringing our infant along when out of the blue the director posted a sign saying that younger siblings were not allowed . . . The alternative was to use their crappy daycare for 8 dollars but mind you, they don't change diapers or feed babies so what is the point? Not very family friendly, and this actually has deterred us from registering for any more classes in the future. If I could give them a negative 5 stars I would. In addition our son developed impetigo from swimming in their pool,which is not surprising since they regularly close the pool due to overgrowth of staph and strep - gross! read more

I absolutely love this place! From the friendly staff to the numerous leisure activities to choose from, you can't go wrong here! My daughter is currently in princess camp. It was the cutest week of my life; also my house is covered in glitter ;) The instructors knew my daughter had a nut allergy & i was VERY impressed on how they handled the snacks; they even went above and beyond and called me to confirm the snacks would be ok a day before they were served the snack. The swim classes are worth the money & my daughter loves the water now. The kids pool has a play area, which is an added bonus. Also theres a super fun slide & a lazy pool (for people like me hehe). The gym is pretty awesome &they even have a massive track. They have a great dance program as well, i highly recommend this. They have banquet rooms for parties. I had a wedding reception here. It was such a Great night! Everything went so smoothly thanks to the wonderful staff. If you have a chance, stop in and get the tour & learn about membership options! Terrible SO OUT OF ORDER AND EXPENSIVE. Depending who you talk to you will get various open gym prices... What it boils too is if you live in michigan and are visiting from another city in Michigan it is 12$ BUT if you are visiting from a whole other state it is 9$ yes a difference of 3$ but that is not the point. Either 9 or 12 is ridiculous for a day pass to play basketball. Especially when half the court can only be used because of the constant volleyball league events. So you pay that much for half court ball, does that sound like "open gym"? And if you have any questions even they have a hard time explaining their ridiculous pricing.. Great way to attract Michiganders to use your facility offering a lower price to people who visit from outside of michigan.. If given a lower price in pretty sure a Michigan resident is more likely to actually sign up for membership than somebody visiting from another state. On top of all this the staff is very rude and naive. read more
