We were served pasta, salad, and then we had preselected entrees that they ran out of. Our table was one of the last ones to be served and they couldn't give us the food that we had ordered because they couldn't manage the counts. The water constantly had some floaters in it. The venue was nice, the location was good, the cake was good, but the entrees and drinks were not quite there. We were lucky they found entrees for us towards the end, but it wasn't what we had preselected it was just what they could pull together.

The pasta was a perfect al dente, and the sausage and peppers were high quality. There was also a nice antipasto tray with olives, cheese, and veggies, which was arranged very nicely. The general area is very nice. Never having been to that area of Metro-Detroit before I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was very nice. Our party had bocci ball courts attached, and many members from our group utilized them. I didn't get a chance to do so, but the courts were in great condition. The IABC has a ton of space for multiple parties, and parking to match. If I lived closer I would certainly host an event at this location, and suggest you do if you are anywhere nearby, looking for great food and a unique experience.

I was recently a guest at Farmington Hills Manor for a youth sports banquet and was very…read moredisappointed in the service we received. Although the facility was beautiful and spacious, the staff were less than friendly and the portions for the amount charged were terrible. Our youth attendees received chicken tenders and fries, it was 2 tenders and a handful of fries, approximately 10-12 fries. Our adults received a small chicken cutlet, half of a potato sliced, and for vegetables 5 string beans and two baby carrots. The vegetarian plate was one potato's quartered and a handful of veggies. To my dismay, when the owner was told about the dissatisfaction with the portion sizes, he was extremely rude, disrespectful, and dismissive. I would not recommend doing business with Farmington Hills Manor.

We booked this place for a youth sports banquet on 12/7/25 with approximately 250 ppl. They…read moreinitially were very accommodating and promised a great meal with a "deal" on the food. They insisted on a plated meal and at first you think wow - fancy and convenient! But they really do that to control the portions because they do not cook the food in house - it is outsourced from another vendor which I realized on the day of our event. The portions were offensive - adult plates that we charged our guests $40 for came with a small piece of chicken, 1 piece of potato cut in half, and literally 4-5 pieces of green beans and carrots. We were stunned! The kids plates - which we charged $25 for - had a meager 2 chicken tenders and 10-12 French fries. It was so few we counted them! Our vegetarian requests that we gave in advance? They simply took the chicken off the plate and served the handful of vegetables and they upped the potatoes to 4. After the event I talked to the owner to voice our dissatisfaction and the charm did a sharp turn to rude and condescending. I asked for compensation for the vegetarian dishes - he said sure I'll pack you up some veggies (as he showed me a Sams club value size of frozen mixed veggies). There were other events I had planned on booking with him - this could have been a fruitful relationship but after his response to my complaint - I told him to erase my January booking and we would not be back and he did not care. He was extremely dismissive. Other than the food - the venue was clean, nice, and the staff were friendly. Photo below of the vegetarian dish!

The Jam Handy is a hidden local gem-of-a-venue…read more The owner, Simeon, is very personable and great to work with! It was a piece of cake to work out the accommodations. A little hard to contact initially, as the website doesn't have too much info. I recently found out that the Jam Handy actually has AMAZING history attached to it. It's named after a guy named Jam Handy (surprise!), who was an Olympic swimmer in the early 20th century. He started the Jam Handy Organization to produce training films for the auto-industry! Later, the organization produced thousands of training films for the army in WW2. Now, it's a bad-ass event space. Hosting events from weddings, film showings, epic dance battles and more! There's a small parking lot and also free street parking on Grand Blvd. If you get the chance to go here...go!
