The Burien staff is amazing. I had 5 teeth pulled and chose to have nitrous oxidefir the 1st time in 50 years. The nurses and office staff were all friendly and efficient. I felt no pain at all. Went in to get all my wisdom teeth and one molar extracted. Got a quick x-ray done and proceeded to get numbed up. Took about 10 minutes for the numbing shots to settle in. They gave me nitrous gas to take the edge off which was effective as I was very nervous. Surgeon came in and did everything in under 10 minutes and I was out the door quickly! read more

I found this office after looking for second opinion for my son's oral surgery. I almost canceled the consultation appointment but decided to go ahead. The friendliness of the office staff from the phone call to the day we went to the office is just awesome. On the day of consultation, the assistant explained the brief plan. Then came Dr. Beatty, the handshake not only to me but to my little boy made my heart warm. He sat across from my son and kept his eye contact with him while explaining the plan of care to me. He interacted with my little one like they had been buddies for a long time. My son needed urgent oral surgery so we just went with the next available appointment with the surgeon on that day. We had the best experience on the day of the procedure. I simply couldn't remember the name of the surgeon but he is professional, extremely friendly and funny and treated all of us with respect. Then the charges were explained clearly step by step; what was used and what not by the lady at the front desk. From the phone to the front and all the way to the back of the office, every single person in that office was phenomenal. I am so glad I found this group of amazing people. Part of my wisdom tooth fell out last week and I was like "oh I'll just do nothing about this!" Fast forward to Thursday and I was experiencing the worst tooth pain ever. My dentist didn't have any space for wisdom tooth extractions until next Friday and I was referred to Summit. They were able to make space for me to be seen the next day since I was in a lot of pain. I was super nervous and expecting the worst, but the staff and Dr. Cottam took great care of me. My IV went in without issue (I'm a hard stick), chatted with the nurse for a few more seconds, then, to my surprise, I was awake, they'd already finished and let me know that everything went great. Dr. Cottam gave me a call once I got home to make sure I was doing fine. I'm super happy with my experience, so glad to not be in pain. My out of pocket cost ended up being a bit lower than what I was quoted. I've got two more wisdom teeth that will need to go, so will be getting it done here and also not waiting until they fall out of my head to do it. For anyone apprehensive about oral surgery, this was a great practice to go to! read more

These folks are the real deal from the front office to the chair in back, and all the players in between. They put you at ease the minute you check in. The staff and doctor make sure all information is complete, and all questions answered. Dr. Beatty performed the entire procedure of placing the implant in less than 30 minutes. He worked carefully and diligently, making sure I was comfortable and well cared for. No pain, or discomfort at all. So much so, that I was relaxed enough to feel drowsy. I have the best experience with Dr.Cottom! He and his team are knowledgeable, professional and made the scary experience not so scary. They understood my insurance policies, they recommend me the best procedure and follow up several times up up until my visits and after the procedure. Please note I did have a little infection in the area and feel minor stingy/discomfort, I texted Dr.Cottom as I wasn't able to speak clearly, he was able to quickly understood my discomfort and prescribed medication. It was easy as 1-2-3, within few days, my pain went away and two-three weeks later, I'm all heal. read more

Excellent doctor. We got all 4 wisdom tooth extraction for our son in one sitting and the procedure was great. My son was able to go to school the next day. The reason I gave 3 stars is the accounting practice and due diligence. We paid for part of the procedure that would not be covered by insurance (in Feb). Insurance actually covered more than that, however, the office did not revert back to refund the amount proactively (atleast until Apr end). The moment we reached out to them, they did refund the excess amount. I would expect them (any service provider) to be proactive when they overcharge customers to avoid considering this as malpractice. I am not sure if we would have received a refund if we haven't reached out to them by scanning the EOB from dental insurance. read more

I had an implant done on June 29th, 2018. I paid them on the day of my visit. On January 16th, I went online to verify my remaining insurance balance and found that my EOB showed I actually owed less than what I had paid. I had to call them to get the credit back on to my card. They don't have a problem billing me if I had owed them; plus interest, luckily I found the discrepancy. Summit Implants and Oral Surgery in my opinion is very dishonest and I will never use them in the future! read more

My experience at Dr Cottam office was amazing from the consult a week before and day of surgery. The staff made me and my husband feel so welcome and Dr Cottam he is so nice and warm but that is a true southern nature you can't change that ! Now I was a little reserved on the method of how he was going to proceed with numbing or gas but the assistant fixed all that ! after explaining I was ready ! WOW ! the nurse and the assistant came in very professional/friendly then Dr Cottam came in said, here is little medicine for you in the IV and the last thing I remember is asking oh, yeah you did say you graduated from LSU ? OUT !!!! 30 minutes later from what my husband tells me I keep saying to those guys, you guys are amazing over and over !!! Such a terrible experience for my son. We felt like a number as the dentist told us how many thousands of surgeries he'd performed. No comfort, just a sterile empty feeling. I had to have a failed root canal removed along with another tooth. I was expecting to be in pain and swelled up for days. However, I only experienced minor discomfort - no pain or swelling at all. I had to get two teens with wisdom teeth taken out, expensive! The process wasn't bad, the kids didn't have any dry sockets or anything. The staff made them feel at ease. The only thing I would ask that they improve is.. please be more accurate on what may be the final costs of the procedure.. I am aware that costs can come up with procedures therefore changing the price.. however my understanding after procedure that we had put well enough into the accounts that there should not have been more costs later, and after paying final due amounts that I thought were the end of it all, I still walked away with still more bills. I had to call the insurance myself when there was a confusion with the insurance and company ( generally if I explain it the dentist.. insurance was handled by the account manager), however the company did work with me on getting the final stuff paid. All I ask is that the dental companies go that extra mile to make sure dual insurances are contacted and that final bills are final. Thank you, other than that they were perfect! read more

I was a complete nervous wreck when my wisdom teeth got infected!!!! After days of calling different oral surgeons in the Seattle area I decided on Summit to remove all four wisdom teeth. Their website was very imformative, professional, and easy to navigate. On the day of my appointment I couldn't help but cry from being so nervous!!!!! Dr. Cottam's staff was so comforting!! They gave me a blanket and made me laugh with their bubbly and friendly personalities Dr. Cottam was so gentle and kind he answered all of my questions before the surgery no matter how ridiculous/ paranoid I sounded he reassured me they would take good care of me. It is my second day after surgery I have very little soreness in my jaw and almost no swelling!!!!! Dr. Beatty is a great oral surgeon but his staff are not professional and responsible. The financial person doesn't do job right. She wrote you an estimate that implant would be covered by insurance but ended up you have to pay a huge bill yourself. "It's all your responsibility" per office. Be ware! read more

So obviously I hate having to do oral surgery, but Dr. Beatty and his staff make it a lot more bearable. I think I've had 5+ surgeries here including my wisdom teeth and an implant. The environment is comfortable and everyone is nice. I haven't had any issues after any of my surgeries and always felt informed about what was going to happen and how to do proper aftercare. I am a huge over thinker - to the point I scare myself out of surgeries, dental work, etc. I was so nervous to get my wisdom teeth out that I waited WAY too long for this procedure. My friends mother, Doina, works for Dr. Beatty and basically made me feel "at home" when I finally went in for the surgery. It was the easiest, stress-free situation I've honestly had when dealing with the dentist. I went in, laid back in the chair, literally said "night night" then woke up and it was all over! The Dr. himself called later in the evening to check on me and made sure I was doing alright and all of the nurses and front desk ladies were really nice too. Unfortunately, I had to go back in for dry-socket but it wasn't nearly as bad as all my friends made it seem. Today, 5 days after my surgery I am feeling little-to-no-pain and very happy I had these wisdom teeth out. I highly recommend Summit and Dr. Beatty! I saw Dr. Beatty for a simple extraction on an abscessed molar from a failed root canal. Honestly, this was the least traumatic dental experience I've ever had. Dr. Beauty's bedside manner is extremely comforting and he eased a lot of my anxiety regarding my procedure. He made me feel in control of my care and was cautious and compassionate about my level of pain. I am some body who loathes dentistry work and has immense anxiety surrounding any kind of work, let alone an extraction. The Dental Assistant who did my X-rays and aided in my procedure was friendly and professional as well. She carefully explained what to expect during my procedure and went over aftercare thoroughly before and after my extraction. Jo, the office manager went above and beyond to help me sort out some concerns about my dental insurance coverage and estimated out of pocket costs. Her communication is prompt, thorough and friendly, she was even nice enough to direct men over the phone when I was having trouble finding the office. I felt a bit questionable at first when my regular dentist referred me out to an oral surgeon for a simple extraction, but I am SO happy that she did. This whole practice is wonderful and their high level of care is evident by the way they perform as a team. I would highly recommend Dr. Beatty if you need an oral surgeon, and will definitely return if I ever need further services. read more

They showed us what the procedure was going to cost and had us sign that paper. Once everything was done they couldn't figure out how to bill the insurance correctly and came after us for an additional $1000. They waived the paper we signed in our face saying that we agreed to pay all charges and that the balance is our responsibility. They messed up the billing and were too lazy to fix the problem. Unless you like endless hours on the phone with the insurance company, I recommend finding another oral surgeon. read more
