Dr. Allen Chen placed two of my implants (including bone grafts and sinus lift) which apparently were rather simple cases for Dr. Allen, and he also treated my father. My father's case, on the other hand, was a extremely difficult case that he couldn't find any dentist in Tokyo, Japan to take on. So he was traveling here to get his implants done and the rest of the dental work a couple of times a year the last several years. The most difficult case was the implant surgery that uses the zygomatic bones (cheek bones)-- this was a very new technology and technique two years ago and the success has saved my father's life! He has been able to eat! Dr. Allen is not only amazing in his expertise but also as a man. He has high moral and ethics, very caring and respectful to his patients yet humble -- he is definitely a man of character. Oh and he's so fun to be around! (One time he came to our house to pick my father up since I couldn't take him to the clinic myself and Dr. Allen needed him there on that day. What doctor would do that even in a very special case?!) I have to also mention his wonderful wife Dr. Alice Chen. With the teamwork of this couple, fear not! There's a way for you too! (How do I attach a picture here? Last winter, I took a picture when both Dr. Chens stayed till really late after work to take care on my father's emergency. They assisted each other since everyone else was already gone.) The entire staff from the first second going into the office to the end of the procedure was a pleasant experience. The initial greeting was friendly. People was sincere not just the normal hello greeting. Doctor came out to the waiting office and offer to turn on TV and coffee. I didn't even had an appointment with him today. Went in this morning for an evaluation on an infected molar by Dr. Chen and he explained everything in detail on what he was going to do and why. Just so happens he had an open morning to extract my tooth if I wanted so I went for it. The novacaine is wearing off now. I have a prescription for strong tylenol if needed. Hopefully it will heal well and I'll be able to get an implant in the next 3-4 months. read more

Coming from someone who never enjoys the Dentist I have to say I have nothing but great things to say about this place! Referred to me by my Dentist I had the grafting surgery for receding gums done and Dr. Chen and his assistants did an amazing job. I never once felt discomfort during the procedure and post procedure they were so accommodating. I called about three times days of procedure just to make sure what I was doing was right and they were so sweet. I was referred to Valley Implants by my dentist, George Stephens. My appointment was with Dr. Chen. Scheduling the appointment was easy and completing all the paperwork was done online prior to my appointment. I met with Stephanie and she was professional and courteous and took care of all my needs. She was able to answer my initial questions and took all the necessary pictures and the 3-D image of my mouth. The meeting went smoothly with Dr. Chen. He explained the process and proposed a doable treatment plan. Scheduling the next appointment was easy and explaining how the implant process worked allowed my concerns to disappear. I have no idea who would trust this provider. I would never recommend nor trust this provider. I was given a totally unnecessary bone graft surgery by this provider. I was ignored when I had concerns. I was charged $1614 for something that was totally unneeded. It is clear this was simply to maximize the billing, for my implant replacement. I have sent a letter but never was responded to. After being pressured to have another totally unnecessary "Bone Scan", I left this provider. I was forced to pay all of this out of my own pocket. I have a new provider that is finishing my implant surgery. The bone graft was confirmed to be totally unnecessary, for my implant replacement. I am researching now my rights with the state over site agencies. I am discovered that other patients have made complaints about this kind of arbitrary over charging. I would never trust nor recommend this provider. I would strongly advise any future patients, to seek another care provider. It was obvious that this provider seeks only maximum billing not patient needs. read more

Dr. Chen does not seem to have a very good grasp on what goes on in his practice. During my first visit they forgot about me, while passing me to different people, to figure out how much things would cost and how much my insurance would pay. Then during treatment, twice, when I was in they had other staff (front office) come help. The first time this happened they had put out the wrong sterile surgery kit before I was in the room. When she realized the mistake, the assistant called the front office for help and the other person jumped in without washing their hands. I told them I was not comfortable with this other person helping to set up and was told, they were careful not to touch things going directly into my mouth. I was not comfortable with them touching the sterile areas that things were laying on and touching other things that would be touched during my procedure. The second time this happened was during a post surgery visit. They scheduled me incorrectly so there was not a dentist there. Their solution was to have the front office person, that used to be an assistant, come back and take a look. Once again she did not wash hands. I asked her about it and she blew it off saying she will put on gloves, this was after she had already touched things, like the light, and then touched it again while putting her hands in my mouth. This person reacted insulted that I asked her about washing her hands. Overview: So I was forgotten about on the first visit. I also had to come back for the pre-op visit, because they had scheduled me to see the wrong dentist. On that quick visit, I had to wait 45 min. for the dentist, with no one checking in to let me know what was going on. Then on the surgery visit they set up the wrong sterile kit for the surgery and had to clear all of that and put out a different kit, so then they were in a time crunch, so the assistant gets a front office person to help set up, without washing their hands. On the third, post op visit, they ask why are you here? For the post op check! Oh, we scheduled that wrong, the dentist is not here, so we will have a front office girl take a look, again here one comes and without washing her hands. They were not following protocol and were cutting corners. Keeping the environment completely sterile before and during surgery is a basic, I would hate to see what goes on when a patient is not in the room. I was also kind of troubled when I found out that I really did not need that $1000.00 bone graft that other dentists charge $500 for. Most people only need a bone graft if your in a hurry for new bone to fill in. And from what I have read, your bone that fills in without a bone graft is actually more stable. Putting bone shavings in the hole before they place the implant takes a couple of minutes but costs $1000.00. Do your homework before an implant! Some of these things seem to be profit boosters. The other thing they don't want you to know is, if you go to a radiology clinic to get the special ex ray, for them the place the bone graft, your medical insurance covers that cost. If you have it done in their office you pay the few hundred dollars, they charge, out of pocket. I did try to communicate these poor practices to Dr. Chen but he let his staff take care of it by telling me how sorry they were. I asked for a $20.00 credit if I paid cash for the balance in full, due to my insurance denying a large portion, that they originally said they would pay. AND due to all of the inconvenience I had been put through. Dr. Chen said NO! Not very customer service friendly, especially after I had spent several thousand dollars there. I also spent a fair amount of time on the phone letting them know how poorly the office was run. They just wanted to know if I would fill out a satisfaction survey! read more

I have been with Dr. Chen for 20+ years and would go nowhere else for my dental care. He and he staff are top notch!

The price I had to pay today was way higher than what I expected. The last time I went to VIP (2-26-16) I was charged $223.80 for the exact same procedure that I had today (teeth cleaning, numbers, and fluoride treatment). However, today I was charged $329.40. Is the reason I was charged this amount because the doctor took the numbers instead of the dental technician? If that is the reason, which my wife, Arlene, suspects, then I'm not a very happy camper. As a matter of fact, I'm very unhappy. What I was charged today amounts to just about a 68% increase (67.94% to be exact). That, to me, is excessive. I was more than satisfied with the service I received at VIP, but the price charged today seems excessive. read more

This was one of my first big oral surgeries and Dr. Boyapati and the staff of Valley Implants & Peridontics were very compforting and reassuring regarding my gum grafting. They took the time to listen to my concerns and personally walk me through the process and the after care. Dr. Boyapati returned all of my calls personally and promptly. The office staff were very friendly and hospitable. There never was a time where I did not feel valued and cared for.
