(Might be a duplicate review, but this team is really good.)…read moreYelped for assistance with a pesky, underperforming a/c unit in the middle of July. "Un-fun." Cooling & Heating Repair were the first to respond and set-up an appt. for the same day (Desert Bonus!) Ilia the Wise (Technician) did a quick system check and surmised that one system was low on Freon (take THAT Al Gore and W.E.F!), and both were missing safety switches, in addition to needing filter replacements. Switches were added and operation verified, and filters replaced (except a special order), and Freon topped off. Both systems work like a champ and I'm very thankful for the response time and professionalism. Great work Ilia and C&H Team!

1 Star We called…read morethis company to fix our air conditioner, which suddenly stopped working after years of trouble-free use. The technician diagnosed and replaced a bad capacitor and fuse in about 45 minutes, and the system immediately started cooling perfectly again. But then things got strange. The technician called his office and said he couldn't leave the working parts in until we approved a new, much higher invoice. He actually removed the new parts and reinstalled the broken ones until we agreed to pay. The invoice was vague, not itemized, and he then said he would "add refrigerant" (or later claimed to remove it)--even though cooling had never been the problem. When asked how much refrigerant was needed, the technician gave a random estimate ("I usually add 2-4 lbs") with no real explanation, and never told us about actually removing any. Later, my husband (who is knowledgeable about HVAC) got a completely different technical story from the company--saying refrigerant was removed for supposed "high pressure," despite the system cooling fine (supply air was 57°F with a 90°F house). Adjusting refrigerant before the home cooled is not proper industry practice. It felt like, because the real repair only took 45 minutes, they needed to pull a fast one to justify an inflated bill. The explanations kept changing, and we were left feeling ripped off. We will be reporting this company to the BBB and the California Contractors State License Board. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for honest service.

One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. We called over a week in advance for an inspection on a house we are closing on, already in escrow. I let the person booking know that we needed a sewer inspection and that contingencies were being removed so it was crucial that we get the inspection as promised. I was told we would get an estimate for services in advance. Despite calling back three times prior to the inspection, I never got an estimate. It was too late to find a new service. On the day, we were able to get a price, which seemed fair. Our window was 12p-2p. Alan, the tech, showed up at 2:30 and only when it was time to do the video inspection of the sewer did they discover that the battery for the video unit was not charged. They dispatched another battery, but our realtor had to leave by 3:15, and there was just not enough time. How do you show up to do a video inspection and not have a charged battery, not have a backup, and not KNOW in advance your battery is dead? OK, not great. Alan promised us he would return at 10:30 the next morning. I explained to him that this meant we'd have to book another night at the hotel, and incur expenses for the dogs, food etc. All in all, it cost us an additional $350 because of their failure to bring a charged battery, Not happy. My jaw hit the floor when Alan informed us that there'd likely be an additional charge to come back the next day which was a Saturday, but then quickly backtracked, saying it wasn't his call. We spoke to someone on the phone who assured us that since the error was theirs, they wouldn't uncharge us for having to come back the next day. Well, thank you SO MUCH. Needless to say, the next day, after having incurred a $350 hotel stay, plus dining, toiletries, etc. NO ONE SHOWED. The realtor was with us, having left her family for the appointment. After 40 minutes of trying to figure out where the hell Alan was, we were told that unless we paid the additional $150 - again DUE TO THEIR MISTAKE WHICH ALREADY COST US AN ADDITIONAL DAY AND $350 - no one would show. And they didn't!! UNREAL. The guy we spoke to on the phone was cold, displayed no remorse or empathy, It felt like a total shakedown. What a great grift - have your battery not charged and up-charge people for it when you can hold them up in the wild. We ended up calling USA Drain and Plumbing who were courteous, understanding, and sent someone right out to do the job at a fair price. They also wrote a great report. Again, I hate to write bad reviews as you can see from the vast majority of my reviews. This one though left us no choice. I wish there was an option for ZERO stars.

We also had the team install a built-in filter system to avoid having to change those flimsy fiberglass ones every other month. And, then we paid for the service plan (very reasonable). Every six months, on the spot, they follow up w/ me about scheduling. They do outstanding work. Leo, Daniel, and all of the professionals that provide service are respectful, thorough, and as I have said in other postings--patient. You do not get that attitude that you get w/ some businesses. What I very much respect is the promptness in addressing issues. Leo and the team quickly respond. I know that when I call, I am going to speak to someone, and the individual (be it Leo or Ed) quickly get me scheduled. There are none of those insane auditory wait/holds--they are on their game. I will add this one in closing--When we looked at replacing our HVAC system, we had three businesses provide estimates. I am not going to "throw shade" at two of them--but let me say. . . they were "cra-cra" on their estimates. Leo sent a professional over who discussed options--there was none of that crazy over-the-top pressure sell maneuvering by the other two. I will offer a word of caution on one--no name mentioned. But if an HVAC person starts trying to sell you insulation--run. We had one actually tell us we had no insulation above our garage--guess what? Spoiler alert--we did. Again--if you want to streamline your HVAC needs-- NexGen HVAC & Plumbing will have your back--and keep you cool:)
