This place is so good! We went by on a whim and had a wonderful time. Happy hour is from 3 to 6, and we were just in time for a couple rounds of super tasty margs for just 5 bones each. We also pride ourselves on being foodies, not just drinkees, so of course we had to try the poutine. Dear LAWD! That poutine was TOO good. The pepper jack was just a hint of spicy, the gravy was rich, the fries criiiiisp. No regerts. For our entrees we both had the Nashville Hot Chicken. I got everything on it, my lady got everything on the side. The sandwich was spicy! Oooh, so good. If you really enjoy spicy get everything on it, but if you just like a little bit of spice we both recommend getting the causes on the side. The chicken breast was thick and juicy, the breading crisp and our sandwiches were served piping hot and fresh. Finally, I have to say the service was on point. Our waitress never let us empty our glasses and asked us if we wanted another round BEFORE we were to the ice cubes. She was also very kind and helpful with her recommendations. I'm so glad that Summit Grill is in the Northland, as there are so few nice places to eat. This is definitely one! I was able to easily make a reservation and we were seated immediately upon arrival, even though the restaurant was almost to capacity with lots of people waiting. We ordered cocktails, which were both good, and the only issue was my husband had told the server he wanted a second drink soon but she never asked or brought one. Other than this, our server was fast, efficient, friendly and accurate. We ordered the calamari appetizer, and wings and sliders from the happy hour menu which was more food than we were able to eat. Had a great visit to Summit Grill's newest location in downtown Gladstone. Situated just off North Oak Trafficway in the heart of this northland community, this is the upscale restaurant in the northland area has been waiting for. I highly recommend advance scheduling dining times for this business. On a previous attempt, we were told there was a lengthy wait for dinner service. Booked our brunch for noon on a Sunday. Parking is a bit tricky. Some side street parking and a few public lots that are a block or so away. The restaurant is grand! High ceilings greet you with a feeling of opulence. Black and white floor tiles and gold lighting accents. The dining space has plush, dark blue seating with combinations of high-top, low and booth options. A more private dining space on the northern side of the business has a more intimate atmosphere. Our server, Abigail, was warm and welcoming. She was great at pointing out the daily specials and making some personal recommendations. We started with the bottomless mimosas. Offered in premixed orange, grapefruit or pineapple. We were offered a combo of orange and pineapple. Well mixed! I ordered a grilled chicken club sandwich, which did not disappoint. The chicken breast was juicy and hearty. Far larger than most sandwiches. Topped with a pickled pepper garnish, served with lettuce, tomato, onion and shoestring fries. This was definitely a filling meal. The fry dipping sauce was phenomenal! As we rounded up our meal, we were shown the dessert tray. Omg! I should come back for just mimosas and desserts. A beautiful assortment that's sure to appeal to any sweet tooth. Certainly looking forward to the next visit to try out their lunch and dinner menus. read more

Giving Summit Grill 4 mostly because it is a cool unique place that should build up the Gladstone area. It is big , spacious and very modern. It is extremely clean. The bar is very nice, long and looks like it is stocked with everything imaginable! For lunch I ordered the soup and salad combo choosing their soup of the day, clam chowder and the wedge salad. The wedge was amazingly good! Fresh iceberg with loads of chunky blue cheese and real bacon! The chowder was good but seemed to have more potato chunks than clams. My dad ordered the crispy tuna melt with fries. There was nothing crispy about it and it was a little spicy. I could tell he didn't like it so I gave up my salad and took the other half of his sandwich. Whatever it is they're doing to this tuna salad I would suggest changing it. I asked the waitress, she said they mix it with some kind of aioli sauce instead of mayo(I do like aioli) but it didn't mesh well with the tuna and it made the bread completely soggy. The cheese that was on it looked like the basic Kraft orange sliced cheese. I'm the sandwich didn't have a lot of tuna in it either. Salad was a success, the sandwich not so much..I would definitely come back to try some other things. The staff was very friendly and we really liked the ambiance. read more

Been here a few times and they are really excellent. You will want to know that the parking can be a little confusing an the door is on the north side of the corner. Beyond that, we were greeted and welcomed each time we've been. The decor is very inviting, upscale, dark wood with nice subdued lighting and plenty of booth and table seating. It looked like they had a nice private room in the back too. The bar is in the middle of the dining area and, while I have yet to belly up, it looks like a good place to hang, eat or just have a couple of drinks. If you are with your special friend and want some private time, ask for a booth, they are part of the dining area, but also well secluded. They have a nice beer selection with the usual suspects, so you are covered. Also, tried a couple of their craft cocktails - and they were clearly done with pride by an excellent bar tender. You when you get a GOOD cocktail and you just know it on first sip? This is one of those places. On to the food, had the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich. It was a generous piece of white meat chicken, buttermilk fried in a crunchy coating that was saturated with a hot sauce. It also had pickles and they claim a jalapeño aioli which was lost to me. This is all on a delicate potato roll and served with lightly seasoned shoestring french fries. To me the sauce was nice and bright, with a good cutting spice that is not for the heat averse. The pickles cut through with a needed crunch and cooling effect. The bottom of the bun was quickly overtaken by the sauce, but otherwise had an outstanding potato flavor, fluffy, chewy and buttery. The fries were also excellent, crunchy and nicely seasoned with salt and pepper. We also tried the Fish & Chips, made with beer battered haddock that were generous of size with a good light coating and a good crunch, nicely seasoned, with an almost tempura taste and texture. Very good with a nice dose of vinegar and the provided creamy tartar sauce. The steak fries were fresh, crisp and plentiful. This dish also came with a small side of coleslaw. Normally, I'm not a fan of coleslaw, but I can say this was very tasty, not too sweet with good crunch and not overdressed. I did not get a chance to try my friends Mahi Mahi blackened fish tacos, but was told they were fantastic! They certainly looked it. Served with black beans and, very oddly, plain white rice was told they were some of the best in recent memory. Also, a friend had the blackened Faroe island salmon salad. The salad is dressed with mashed avocado, bacon, corn salsa and some chips. Again was told that the salmon was particularly delicious and flavorful. I can vouch the salad looked perfect. Finally, one of the party had Chicken Fried Chicken, which is literately a large chicken steak or breast fried and served with white gravy, mashed potatoes and a vegetable melody with green beans, cauliflower and broccoli. Again did not get a chance to try this, but when it was set on the table I said, "You win!" It looked so good. In the end the price point is a bit up scale, but the food, decor, service and atmosphere is well worth the visit. Highly recommend you try it! read more

Need (and plan) to return soon for dinner, but meanwhile made my initial visit for a restaurant week lunch. The place was packed and there were lots of people I knew there (the Northland can be a small town). The space is beautiful and people were clearly super excited to have a new option in the heart of Gladstone. The menu itself (for restaurant week only) was decently varied - I started with baked potato soup, which was excellent, then had a steak and crispy potatoes. I am kind of a steak snob and this one wasn't the best, but the portion was great for $15 and the potatoes lovely. The fried chicken and mashed potatoes another friend ordered was much better, so I had total entree envy! On the main menu, I was sad not to see the crab dip appetizer that I've enjoyed at the Waldo location, so I sure hope someone brings that back. Quality upscale restaurant in the Northland. Arrived around noon for lunch and the place was very busy, but ample seating meant we were sat right away. The server was wonderful help as we navigated the menu, with the wide array of classic and new American fare. Great place for a brunch with friends, a nice date night meal, or even a big family get together. They were playing classic holiday music while we were there, and the trendy decorations made me forget I was on North Oak. Definitely worth the visit, and I plan on being back soon! What we ordered: Started with the calamari (100% recommend) which was plum, well seasoned, and juicy. The fried peppers that were also inculded in the dish also added to the wonderful taste. The calamari was made from steaks and not small ringlets and tentacles which was why it was so good. One person in our party got a Caesar salad, which was nothing special. Our entrees of Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwhich, Jalapeño Cheesy Grits in a Jar, and Chicken and Goat Cheese Salad were all incredible. This was my worst experience ever at this restaurant. I made reservations for 10 people for my husband birthday for happy hour. I was even sent a text the night before to confirm. As soon as I walked up to the reception desk I knew there was a problem. They had NOT prepared a table for us. So to make up for their mistake they jammed us in a booth for that would hold 6 people comfortably at the most. I went to the manager who was very argumentative and mean to voice my concern. He wouldn't admit their mistake. Finally saying he would find us another table after being extremely ugly to me. 30 minutes had passed after all this back and forth so happy hour was just about over. He puts us in the back dining area where happy hour wasn't honor. Needless to say he spoiled my whole night and upset my guest. I had to feed my husband and grandkids cause they had to leave but no one else ate because of the rudeness we were shown. We left and ate at another restaurant. You let 600.00 walk out the door. I will not return to your restaurant without a formal apology. And let the public know how we were treated. Very unhappy customer. Your manager is the worst should have kept Margo. read more

This is one my top favorite places to dine and it's typically always good. I've never had a problem with the food or service. However this visit was a big disappointment! I went with a party of 7 and 3 of us got the fish and chips. This wasn't the first time I've order this entree, and both the fish and chips were way over cooked. The batter fell off the fish and the chips were very dark with the potato cooked out of the fries. All the baskets were cooked this way. I don't understand how they could have been delivered by 2 different servers and neither saw a problem. My lack of satisfaction would have been shared with the server, but we weren't asked about the quality or liking of our food. Server could have stepped up his game. I'll return, but next time won't stay quite about the quality. read more

The food here is phenomenal. I had a Caesar salad to start and the Parmesan crusted tilapia. The fish was delicious, the mashed potatoes were amazing, and the vegetables were pretty good too. My mom has the salmon and it was amazing as well. And my dad really enjoyed the fried chicken. We finished it off with a creme brûlée which was served in a dish made out of chocolate. YUM! We'll definitely be back. It's still pretty new, and still a really busy place as people come to try it out, so I definitely recommend a reservation. There's a bar side and a restaurant side. They can close off sections of the restaurant side, unfortunately making it harder to be seated over there if you're looking for a more intimate setting. We went for my mom's birthday with a reservation and when we arrived they asked which side we wanted to be seated on, we picked restaurant and they still tried to seat us on the bar side. After a short wait we did eventually get seated in the setting we preferred. Nothing against the bar side! They used to have great food, past few times I've been the food was not cooked all the way and looked disgusting.

Have eaten here 35-50 times over the years. Brought big groups for celebrations. After tonight won't be back. We don't go out to eat to be stressed and tense. Seated at 7:05. Took 10 minutes for our server to bring water and order drinks (two glasses of wine). Took 15-20 to get those to glasses of wine. Took our order, salads and entrees. 10 min later salads arrive. But we have no silverware. One minute later entrees arrive. Literally had our entrees before we got forks to eat our salds. Hadn't even cut up my wedge salad before entree arrived. Told runner who brought our food, we just got our salads 1 minutes ago. He said "oh I'm sorry" and walked away. Our waitress then comes by and looks funny at our table as our entrees are on the end and we're eating our salads. "well that's weird" they brought those so early. And basically walks away. She comes back by to check and see how our entrees are, I said these skinny fries are cold and our entrees are cold. She says, "well I guess they screwed us both" and walks away. Final straw we sat there for 10-15 min waiting for our bill, never asked us if we wanted a refill, never asked if we wanted more water, both gone halfway through entree. Finally had to go up to the host station to get our server, not serving us, just chatting, to ask for 2 boxes and our check. Manager came by the table, we explained our disappointing evening and so he comped us our glasses of wine. I've worked in restaurants growing up and honestly never seen complaints about food and service result in $20 taken off a bill for drinks. Disappointed. Has been a favorite for many years. My Mother in Law wanted us to come eat here as we just arrived from Key West. The Nashville Chicken Sandwich caught my eye. I was not disappointed. When it was delivered to the table it was the size of the plate. If you can handle a little spice I highly recommend this. Our server, Madison, was very friendly. Tried to have a special Mother's Day lunch here. Server forgot our drinks and didn't apologize. We waited over an hour for our meal, not getting served until 3:00 after being there at 1:30. Seems like it wasn't only drinks she forgot as tables were sat after us, served and left before us. Don't think the general manager will care, either. After letting Russell know, he said I wish you would've said something sooner and wished happy Mother's Day. Guess that was our fault? The food is always delicious. Happy hour food & drinks 3-6 and affordable every day! The bartenders are awesome and will remember your name and go-to orders if you come in more than once. Stacey, Ashley, Dom, Sarah are great servers/bartenders who have been here forever and will make you feel welcome. The bar has plug-in outlets all across, so it's a great place to get work done if you need a laptop charge away from the office. Used to love this place and will never be returning. The past 6 times i've gone the hosts have been beyond disrespectful & i've had to wait 20 minutes minimum when there's 20 plus tables open. And when I came to check on my status after it was 10 minutes past the quote they gave me, the hosts continue to be extremely rude. The male staff also doesn't check if there are females in the restroom before entering, and stays in there to clean even when they realize there are females in there using the restroom.
