The minute I walked into CA White, I was greeted with sincerity and professionalism. Linda is an absolute pleasure to deal with. She's fair, kind, and has always been responsive. I looked at one of their luxury 2 bedrooms earlier, which was beautiful, but I was looking for something a little more modest. I ended up signing onto an apartment at 84 Howe St (Campus View), and while it's an old building, it's well maintained, really fairly priced, and located in a safe area and convenient distance from Yale. First off management is horrible if you can even call "management" any issue I brought up I felt like either was basically ignored or they half asked fixing the problem. They were supposed to do "remodeling" on the balconies and literally just smeared paint on them didn't clean them or anything first so of course the paint was peeling off in a couple of months and was a different color then the paint underneath so it looked even worse after then before they did anything and they didn't fix any of the damaged wood etc. The apartment had no ventilation and all the walls were covered in a black residue which was probably mold. Staples sticking out of carpet, appliances constantly falling apart since they are ancient appliances probably from the 80's or older. And our neighbors were horrible having parties in the middle of the week and screaming and yelling all night long I complained to management a number of times they said they would "talk to them" each time but literally there was never any improvement I don't think management ever said anything to them. Woodbury Knolls laundry room is a nightmare machines constantly broken and it was a guessing game to see which machines actually worked and machines would constantly eat my money and not work. I'm pretty sure the apartment was haunted ..saw things levitating and things would randomly go missing then reappear and me and my boyfriend would see dark inhuman looking shadows outside. And our neighbors right next to us doing witchcraft I'm sure contributed to the weird things we were seeing, hearing, and experiencing. Honestly apartment looks horrible and everything is old and constantly breaks they don't properly maintain anything I wouldn't recommend renting here unless your only choice is either stay here or be homeless. Also manager clearly only cared about they money she was getting and didn't care what conditions residents live in and doesn't care about residents having problems due to covid. Horrible I'm so happy to finally be out of there. It was a nightmare living there... literally.

When i arrived, I was (and am) happy with how quiet the complex is, the neighbors are all really friendly, and they added the dog park shortly after we moved in(which my dog loves). The new windows put in last summer drastically changed my electric bill this winter, and they're nice big windows! When there's a snow storm, they are quick to get the plow guys out taking care of the parking lot and walkways. We are very happy here!

I moved in last Monday…read more Initially, my experience researching the building was admittedly a little bit rocky -- I put in my application and did not hear anything back over several weeks toward the end of the summer, which was frustrating because they do charge an application fee to explore them as an option. I was finally able to get in touch with their assistant property manager, but much to my disappointment (and surprise) I was rejected for residency. As I continued to research places to go, I was beginning to find out that due to COVID, many living spaces around Fairfield county were being lost to college kids whose parents are wary of them living on campus, drying up moving options for people like me who wanted out of where I was, but wished to remain in the area. On a lark, I reached back out to two other individuals CC'd on my email discussions with the APM and asked for a reconsideration. Much to my delight, Matt, a partner at Crestwood, who owns the building, emailed me back the very same night. I advised him of the resources I am working with, fully illustrated my situation and he promised to get back me the next day with an answer as to whether or not we can proceed. He absolutely followed through and made good on his word. After giving me a call personally to let me know the good news the next night, we chatted quite a bit about self-funding through grad school (never a cheap prospect) and he inquired as to what space I'm interested in, do I have any specifics or preferences? He really went out of his way to gauge what I wanted so he could connect me with the best fit. I ended up taking a spot on the 10th floor in a bright, airy apartment with outstanding views and high ceilings (I'm on the north side of the building, facing the Fairfield County Courthouse and overlooking the Arcade) It is clear the owners take good care here - the lobby is spotless, the elevators and common areas are all equally inviting and everything overall has been an absolute breeze. I can't thank Matt enough for taking the time to understand my individual circumstances, the time limit I was facing where I was and through that, enter into a business relationship that I feel completely confident in. A couple tips for living downtown: 1. It is not scary. Fairfield county is absolutely horrid when it comes to rental pricing and Bridgeport is frequently overlooked. While all the attention goes to the North End, landlords know this and the rents are becoming on par with Fairfield, Norwalk, etc. People historically have overlooked downtown because of a non-existent crime element that I have yet to see and haven't seen down here in quite some time. I've spent a lot of time down here over the years and It's a hidden gem. 2. As Bob Dylan once said, "Watch the parking meters!" While parking around the block is pretty easy to get, you would be amazed at how quickly the meter maids come out. They've got little handheld receipt tape things and they'll cook up a ticket for you in seconds flat. You get a reprieve over the weekends, but set a timer on your phone or watch and you'll never have an issue. 3. Invest in a pull-cart. While the garage is not far from the building at all, you don't want do the one-trip shuffle with armfulls of groceries. I took this advice myself and it is lifechanging. 4. Always, ALWAYS order your coffee from the Dunkin' downstairs in advance on the app - you do not want to be stuck in the deluge that is the workforce of People's Bank tower next door, city hall or the angriest court staffers on earth at one of the two courthouses nearby

I was told in June 08 that my lease was up even though I wasn't able to move in till October. Tried talking with the leasing office but they were near impossible to get in touch with. When i finally did get in touch with them I was told I could renew the lease or go month to month for an additional 150 a month. Personally I will NEVER deal with them again. Besides my issues it was a very nice apt. I lived on the 10th floor so I had a nice view of LI sound, and 95:/. I was also told that all the original windows would have storm windows installed and they did not. The wind in the winter against the windows was horrible and very drafty.

She does not return calls, is rarely available, and is never in the office when I need to speak with her. Christine also does not appear to take the time to properly review the bylaws before taking over the management of a new property when she joins Felner. She does not resolve issues, does not respond to residents, is never available, and does not return phone calls. Debra at the front desk is extremely rude and does not even allow you to explain why you are calling. Matt, the assistant, is even less helpful and often does not seem to know where anything is or how to assist with basic questions. The service has been absolutely horrible. There is a complete lack of communication, follow-up, and accountability. When residents have serious issues with their property, we should be able to expect management to respond, be available, and actually work toward resolving the problem. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience with Christine, Debra, or Matt.

First my belongings began to disappear, so I complained to the office, they talked to me, surprisingly that day Neil was very nice which is very strange because he is always rude, he tried to persuade me by saying that this had never happened before in the company and they blamed my roommate. They used that as an excuse because unfortunately we had a bad relationship with my roommate, who the same company introduced me to rent the apartment with her, then she moved and did not notify me that a new person would arrive to live in the Apartment, one night an strange woman appeared in the apartment which shocked me and I had to call the police, and she explained that the company had given her the keys, and the next day I heard a baby crying in the apartment. The company was very clear in the contract that only two people could live in the apartment. Now I am stranded in this place living with strangers because the company threatens me that if I move and stop paying rent they will report me for eviction and I will lose my security deposit

The apartments themselves can vary depending on which complex/building you rent from so definitely check them out either in person or virtually (e-mail for video tours). What stands out the most, however, is the management staff. When I was first looking for apartments, the management staff clearly laid out the move-in process and was (and still is) very responsive to e-mail correspondence. They stay on top of regular maintenance as well as the occasional concerns. I've thought of exploring other areas but stayed with Chelsea Co. given how my friends' feedback regarding other companies were very hit or miss. With Chelsea Co. though, other reviews as well as my personal experiences have been reliably positive. Testament to this is how separate employees on two separate occasions gave unsolicited praise for how well the management treat them and runs the company. One of those employees also went out of his way to help me out with one of my move-in tasks that I forgot to do until last minute. They also take security of packages very seriously. In conclusion, Chelsea Co. is extremely organized (even more so during COVID!) and helpful. I've lived at their properties pretty much stress free for 2.5 years and running.
